Hello Ali, it's so nice to see you again:heart::heart::heart: It's been too long since we've had the pleasure of your presence on TPF! Very happy to see you on this thread - I'll keep my fingers crossed that you score a MP. Welcome back & stay safe!:flowers:
❤ MBtL! You are the sweetest! It's nice to be back and seeing all the pretties but at the same time very dangerous. Not sure what I'll end up with but have a feeling I won't be able to resist a future splurge. Hope you're doing well!

After closely scrutinizing the new Escale MP vs 2011 DA MP, I have come to some conclusions:

Firstly, The classic MPs have no lining at all.
I’ve seen some posts talking about lining in the classic MP which is why I looked closer and am writing about it now.

The inside of the classic MPs consist of canvas - it's simply the backside of the canvas it’s made of, with fabric sewn over the joined edges. I tried to get good angles so this can be seen. It allows the bag to have slightly more room because it’s just a sewn fabric "bumper" over the raw edges of the outer material. Believe it or not this minimalist approach to the interior lends even the slightest bit more packable storage.

Also, I wouldn't know the precise answer since I'm not in the atelier on the front lines, but maybe they chose to use a thinner mm for this canvas because they know the fabric lining would add bulk. Perhaps they were trying to subtract some chunkiness from the canvas to make up for the addition of that chunkiness gained from the fabric ? Just a thought. Shrugs.

Secondly, the new Escale MPs have a sewn drop-in lining. Which means that underneath that pretty purple cloth lining, there are the same "guts" as can be seen in the classic MPs. The difference is there is extra fabric sewn to fit the interior and then dropped in and sewn around the top for the Escale MP.

So essentially, when I see comments about "cost-effectiveness" and "cheaper" methods with the new Escale MPs, I have to disagree. It is by far more costly to include additional fabric in these special edition MPs. Also, I tried to show in the photos, because of the addition of the drop-in lining, there is an added step to sew all along the interior top of the MP in one continuous length. That means: more sewing = more manual labor = more cost.

In the DA MP, it can be seen in the photo of the interior where the zipper meets the top of the inside canvas, that the zipper has one line of stitching along the top to hold the zipper in place. Thus all of the innards of the bag are raw and out on display. Making it very easy to see how it is constructed. Again, looking at the interior of the Escale MP, everything is hidden beneath the pretty lining and all buttoned up.

Just wanted to point all of this out, if for nothing else but my own amusement. Hehe. I do not agree in the price increase on the limited edition MP, but it does seem that they are indeed trying to make them "nicer" or have a little bit more of a special interior with some flavor. I agree there is less room due to the addition of the fabric lining, which doesn't bother me personally, but I understand the nuance of it.

I included photos of the zipper issues, mine has it too, sadly. I would venture to guess that this will be the norm for this piece. Very disappointing. The canvas itself does feel thinner and more flimsy. It's like buying poster board (older MP) and then getting one little piece of printer paper (new Escale MP). Lol. The thickness is not at all up to standards as we used to know them.

The zipper issue could be fixed if more attention was paid to where the zipper was being sewn onto the canvas during construction of the piece. It is being sewn too far back. It should be hitting where the older ones hit. I hate to say it but I think the mass production and rushed inventory demands is causing so much to slip through the cracks. More employees hired and trained quickly and less attention paid to detail. I know I'm not saying anything we don't already know (but is cathartic to type it). ;)

I will be keeping this Escale MP - the pop of color and spring vibe makes me happy. And I probably won't use it enough to get annoyed by the inside bulkiness. But simply having it and being able to look at it cheers me up, so it is what it is. Hope this was helpful in some way to understand at least the construction method of this piece, both new and old.

Can I ask, whether this new lining can be "pulled out" (by that I don't mean completely removed) to enable a careful hand wash? They do tend to get dirty on the inside. Is the bottom sewn in/stuck or loose?

My bag arrived!!!! I wanted the pink pastel bag so bad but then I was having second thoughts on the color. However, my bag wasn't supposed to be delivered until Monday BUT THEN I HEARD THE DOORBELL AND OMG ITS MY BAG!!!!

The color is soooo much more muted than the online store shows it to be, like a while shade lighter and it's...I can't even. It's just WOW to me.

thats just lovely and Spring-like. Enjoy!

Thank you my dear (hugs). :hugs:
Don’t know how that happened. Maybe a computer glitch. 4 are coming next week and 1 is still in preparation (got charged for 5). Sheesh thank goodness I handle the finances. Hubby would go ballistic. :panic:

As I mentioned I called yesterday before any of them showed a shipping status. Gonna get back on the phone. Hopefully the packages can be intercepted.
:hugs:Hugs to you & keep us posted!

Thanks.
Ok I was told they couldn’t intercept the packages which were already sent out and that when they arrive, not to sign for it. I guess he didn’t realize we don’t sign for anything with the pandemic. So I guess I am stuck with receiving 5 bags and won’t get reimbursed until they receive them back. He did note in the records that I called twice regarding this matter. He was however able to cancel the other 2 bags that said Pending Order Validation. Oh well.

Hello lovely people. Wow what a time to come here during this worldwide pandemic outbreak. So sad.
I loved the new summer additions; especially the bleu. Of course when I decided to look just about everything was sold out. However I was able to order the TP26 in both bleu (My favorite) and pastel. So very happy about that.

ok so now I’m Thursday night the NF in bleu became available. I was estatic! Ordered it right away. However it appeared it wasn’t going thru. So I ordered it again. Same thing happened. Till it turns out 7 NFs appeared in my history with most Pending Order Validation.
So yesterday I called LV and spoke to Shay? She told me she doesn’t know how it was allowed for me to get 7 NFs. So she told me she cancelled all orders except for one. Which was great.
So now after checking my account, it turns out I was charged for 5 NFs, and as of this moment 4 have already been shipped.

how can this happen?? Anyway 2 still show Pending Order Validation and 1 is Order in Process.

Now I’m sure I will get banned from ordering after I return 3, and possibly 4 NFs if the 5th bag gets shipped.
Ok, that craaaaazy!! :whut: Sorry for all your trouble but glad you got your piece. They gotta fix their website.

Welcome back hon! :hugs:What a time to come back and then charge 12 grand all at once:P Mistakes like that should not be allowed to happen. Hope you really really like that bag. I know it could be tricky but I wonder if your credit card company could intervene and put a hold on those charges while you’re waiting for it to be resolved. I don’t know if that would mess up your history at Louis Vuitton but it might save you from a really large bill before the credits actually rolled in So sorry that happened you are so kind and you sure didn’t deserve that mess! It’s good to see you back anyway!

I absolutely love that little wallet it caught my eye but I couldn’t justify the price of something so little. I’m now on the fence about kirigami set as I could have a piece of pastel and turn it into a crossbody and the blue would be nice for in my blue neonoe that just arrived yesterday!! Blue speedy is arriving today! I’m told myself I’m going to pick one but I’m torn. The speedy first caught my eye in collection it was oos when I placed my order for neonoe and then it came back for a split second the moment I checked out with it site showed it oos again. I have a Damien ebeine speedy already and love how much it holds but carrying it full without a strap it gets too heavy. The neonoe has been a bag on my list for quite some time. I had steered away after hearing quality issues with canvas being thinner and glazing issues. Now that I have this in my hand though I absolutely love it!! Canvas actually feels very study. Strap stays perfectly on my shoulder and is beyond comfortable!
Love your bag!! My first canvas bag with Vuitton was a rose Poudre neo noe. Wasn’t sure if i would like it but it is ever fabulous. It does fit perfectly on his shoulder and does not get too heavy I absolutely love this bag yours looks great in blue hope you enjoy it!!!

ps famous last words “I’ll only keep one

One quick update about my mini pochette in pastel. I stuffed it with a large fuzzy sock overnight, and it pushed out the edges of the bag and the lining and I swear even the canvas feels different now, I’m sure that’s my imagination. It looks better too. But here are a few pics. I really do like this little piece, so maybe this trick might be worth a try for those of you on the fence.
