Suggestions for an "investment" bag?

Well, I'm kind of in the same boat. After buy cheep-o bags for so long (mostly Nine West...), and dieing to own some high end designer bags I decided to start investing money in bags that, are not only high quality, but bags that will last my for years to come.

I wanted my first higher end bag to be a LV since I have always wanted one. After asking around and doing some research I decided to go with a Mono Speedy 25, but I ended up getting the 30 after seeing the size of them in person.

So my personal opinion for a LV "investment" bag would be a Mono Speedy 25 or 30. I never see the speedy going out of style, and especially the monogram version.

Yeah..investment bag ?? Any LV bag is an investment, you use it and someday when you decided to sell, you still get some $$

I personally think sometime epi line doesn't really have high resell value especially for that style you mentioned.

Really? Why do you think that is?

I ask, because I've wanted to buy a black Epi bag for a while now. I would have thought that the fact that it's made on leather (versus canvas) is a point in its favor, along with the fact that texture's just so complex and maverick -- a lot of work has been put into it.

Just my uneducated two cents - if she's going to sell it to a non-specialist market eg on e-Bay at a later date, she'd do well to stick to something fairly classic as some of the limited editions look "wrong" to a casual buyer - eg the mono Mini Lin range is lovely, and far from cheap LOL but doesn't scream "classic LV" to a rebuyer....? :confused1:

Also - do I need to say?! :graucho: - suggest she keeps everything, carrier bags, receipts, box and dustcover!

I'd rather sell a kidney than a bag though, so take my advice at what it cost you! ;)

Seems you are talking about a bag that you can use for years and won't be dated?

I've thought about it since I am just starting my collection of investment bags and one of the pieces I want for sure is the monogram speedy 25 (or 30 if you prefer). It's been around for years, suits women of all ages, and will never go out of style. Another piece I want is a simple black Chanel.

In this case, go with something in either the Damier or Monogram canvas. Both patterns are classic and never go "out" (though when you truly love a bag, and love carrying it, it will never be "out"). If she doesn't want something with a pattern, something in either the Suhali or Epi would be nice as well.

I could be wrong about this, but it doesn't have the noticeable LV pattern, only the small logo on the corner and most times, only educated LV buyers would know it's LV. Most people who are investing in only a couple pieces want the recognizeable pattern of LV.

ummm.. i think speedy is a bag that will last for years especially if u have it in canvas. it's very classic and great shape.

i personally think a speedy in a discountinued epi color will holds its value more and resell more easily. but then saying that mono and damier are the same but when ppl look at ebay they probably think i can get mono/damier in LV. so they be turned downed by that option.

If I was rich - I would probably get a black suhali, one of the gorgeous ones, like the one that looks like a doctor bag. To me that would be an investment bag of a sort - not to resell, but an investment in me - never worry about vachetta. Otherwise, I agree - one of the limited edition bags like the mono stephen or something.
