 for our deluded attempts, Betty Kay to deny the squirrels the lion's share of all our bird feeders forever and ever! I for one love squirrels so I'm not too bothered, as long as the birds can get a look in.

Thank you for the nice note, BK! It is a Leah Shoulder Bag in Eggplant. (this Leah style has a comfy shoulder strap and a wee flap that comes over the top with a Mulberry gold coin type "charm" on the ring. Mine is missing the charm, but Leahs being as rare as the proverbial hen's teeth, I leapt when I saw it in spite of this, and plan to add a charm of some sort to finish her off. I'm aware that many would not have anything to do with a bag thus flawed, but she is otherwise so lovely and in such good nick, I could not resist. I cannot imagine how/why someone removed the charm. ) Moo beautifully described some of the qualities of plonge lambskin on here, and shared pics of her stunning examples, which helped me to decide to purchase her. The lambskin does seem to require some extra care in terms of wear and tear, but is remarkably soft and supple and the feel of her on my shoulder is light as a feather. I imagine this is one of the reasons Leahs were so well loved when they came out. There is a stunning example of this model in hazelnut--a knockout shade-- also on npn: https://www.npnbags.co.uk/naughtipi...der-Bag-in-Hazelnut-Lambskin-Plonge-SOLD.html
(I hope this is ok to link, as npn is such a stellar site and so well respected--apologies if this is not ok, please mods let me know, thanks!)

It's too dark to take a decent pic now but I shall do so tomorrow so you can see. I shall need to stuff her as she's totally puddly and just collapses elegantly in a little heap ;)
Oh, I see, in a quick glance before I mistook the Leah with a flap and shoulder strap for a rucksack ! It looks beautiful, and your description of the leather is also mouthwatering... I am curious to see a picture, in eggplant it must be beautiful. You really seem to collect very rare and extraordinary mulberry bags which are crafted beautifully - it sometimes makes a bit sad that this era of the brand seems to be over...

As far as the questions of letting go some beloved nuts... I am of the opinion that style sometimes change, but also return, so that perhaps after not having carried one special bag for a while, or two years, you might like to carry it again- so that I would always fear to regret selling it. One exception could only be if a bag turns to be too girlish for my age:lol:

Totally agree with the wonderful qualities of the plonge lambskin, it's a fabulous finish. I immediately grabbed a Bays large clutch in the Outlets several years ago. I don't think there were many made in the mushroom which is a very light colour and does need TLC and babying. It's a Mulberry that I refuse to part with even though she is rarely used, she's still immaculate. The feel of the leather is amazing and it's finished with loads of rose gold.

Enjoy your Leah MulberryMermaid, eggplant is such a fabulous colour. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures

Mulberry gal, thank you for your kind words:smile:
I spent some time earlier looking online for a pic of your fabulous Bays mushroom clutch to no avail--must have been very rare and I am so glad you were able to grab it when you did. Have seen the stunning mushroom color and can only imagine how knockout it must be paired with the rose gold:love: Surely one of the all time best pairings Mulberry ever created. You are right to keep her close and enjoy her judiciously for all time. May I ask your advice on what you do to baby her? I've used some Collonil 1909 cream already on the Leah to clean and moisturize and it's come up a treat. Shes not perfect, but still lovely. Please let me know what TLC measures you take so that I may learn from you.
Have a meeting now but promise to post a pic later...

It's so difficult to part with our hoard. I've loved all of my Mulbs but there were some that just didn't suit my lifestyle any longer, they'd stay unused for far too long and I just had to move some on. I can justify keeping four or five I rarely use but not the mass I'd gathered.
I love your thinking MulberryMermaid................best to imagine them happy in their new nests. :annoyed: at this time of year I always think of my gorgeous champagne metallic tiger Bays that I foolishly parted with. I used her once, she was the first very delicate Mulb I bought and an evening out to an Indian restaurant made me think I was mad  and after not using her for some time moved her on.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I paid a ridiculous £350 in the sale, oblivious at that time how crazy the prices would go. When I think what a Bayswater costs now and how much more I pay for a bag I could have justified keeping her and using just as a special for Christmas. I'd love to still own her and always keep a watchful eye out although I can't imaging finding one in pristine condition.

Oh my, oh my, oh my! Mulberrygal, you've floored me with this one! I have but a few minutes but must tell you how much I feel for you! What a remarkably beautiful Bays! The name, Champagne Metallic Tiger says it all! :girlsigh: and the purchase price (sound of gnashing teeth)

It must be so hard at this time of year when you miss her most, I truly feel for you, my dear! There must be many of us who have let go a beloved nut on our journeys and regretted it. All I can say is that one makes the best decision one can with the information and circumstances one has at the time, hindsight be damned! Please don't blame yourself, you thought it was for the best and after all, how can one know these things?
And you set such a shining example for us all with your disciplined process! I for one can only aspire to being as rigorous with only four or five rarely used nuts in your cache. Ashamed to say I have far more than that--I won't for ever but right now, you set an example for me:hugs:

p.s.
I pledge that if I ever see your Champagne Metallic Tigress I will alert you pronto--it may not be pristine, but you never know. There may be another squirrel who decides to cull their cache of this lovely so will keep my eyes peeled! xo

I totally agree! One evolves as does one's cache of nuts, yet some are evergreen and always provide pleasure. I too am at the dangerous age of perhaps not quite getting it right--yet Mulberry classics are so classic, can we ever truly go wrong? Perhaps it also has to do with how we wear them, accessorize them, etc.
I cannot imagine you making a mistake in any case, dear BK--your nuts are so very elegant!

OMG, your Leah is really gorgeous, the eggplant color with the golden hardware looks stunning! :hbeat:Wear her in good health!
Thank you very much for your kind remarks concerning my collection! :flowers:At the moment I cannot imagine letting go any of my beloved nuts- and I am still waiting for a message that the seller has sent my purchased Mable to the secondhand shop, who will send it afterwards to me...You are absolutely right that most Mulberry bags are so classic you can wear them at any age- but I had for example massive doubts before buying a mini Lily. I thought perhaps more a bag for girls, and I am also a tall person, sometimes another problem with some bags (and the shoulder strap) but I loved it in metallic mushroom, looks like a little gem, and now I am happy to have her- as a very special evening bag. But the regular lily is generally more practical for my purposes! A bag like the Cara Delevingne looks more for younger persons IMO.

:drinks:Thank you my friend, I will wait in anticipation for news of sittings  Champagne Metallic Tigress is so missed, why did I part with her??? I was gob smacked at her RRP at the time, over 1k. Bays were selling for around £500 so she was very special, an exotic beauty and a fantastic buy at her discounted, then further discounted and last reduction of 20% off...............Arghhh Grhhh those were the days :crybaby: It was lust at first sight, with no thought of her practicalities, at that time my collection wasn't large and I couldn't justify a bag in my cupboard I daren't use.

I ended up with 7 Bays and although I loved them all my lifestyle of over a 2 mile walk to work didn't suit using a Bays every day.......................some just had to go. I kept only two of these precious nuts, blue Ostrich & red onion, an amazing practical finish.

but a good example I'm not!! Lol my stash of nuts are plentiful, I struggle to keep them down to 25  but I love using the majority and rotate loads, most seem to have a purpose now and my collection is well pruned. I never (well maybe just a tad) spontaneously buy anymore, if something gets away I'm sure another will come along. I just regret as I'm sure many of us do, letting go of ones that were gorgeous and now cost three times the amount. I guess a large amount of the pain is to do with replacement cost :graucho:

I do still have a credit card slip to remind me, strangely she shows little signs of use although used regularly

Not sure why I haven't joined this club yet, as I am probably the dictionary definition of a squirrel... I own quite a few M bags, only use a few of them, and buy & sell when I decide it's time for a change. I'm generally ok with that, but sometimes have to be tough with myself!

To my earlier point about your elegant cache of nuts, dear BK! A metallic mushroom lily petite, how dreamy for so many special occasions. I know you won't like my saying it (as I've discovered from other friends who are tallish who've told me I'm wrong) but as a diminutive person I do envy your height! I know it can present wardrobe challenges and strap issues, though. Still, with tall people surrounding me, I always think it adds a certain flair and elegance to what you wear, including of course your Mulberrys! I bet you look smashing whatever the lovely nut you wear!
I think perhaps you may be right about the Cara-- but I am certain I still covet one! (the oxblood studded one, sigh) Cannot we carry it off anyway? I imagine it depends on the ensemble, as it were;)
Thank you for your kind words on Leah, she is still being lavished in 1909 cream and compliments and slowly feeling at home. When I was searching for dear Mulberrygal's divine metallic Tiger bays today on different sites, I did see two Leahs today (on VC) when I happened to check there, one in eggplant, a Messenger Leah I believe and a Mushroom Leah. Both looked lovely and the eggplant had her coin intact--luckily my Mlle. Leah did not see, don't want her to have a complex :giggle:

Welcome Skater! So nice to have you here, you are an esteemed Mulberry person! :flowers:
I hear you about the being tough with oneself. It's an ongoing struggle.
Sometime you must share your nut-gathering and nut-divesting strategies with us, and I will search around here tomorrow to see if I may spot your cache which I'm sure is an amazing one!

What a wee beauty, sweet Mulberrygal! I can see how you fell head over heels for her Big Sister. Arghhh again on the entire price scenario! double:facepalm:
So today I did have a Champagne Metallic Tigress Watch on this afternoon, scanning all sites I could think of and the closest I came was a Metallic Snake Bays, lovely but not The One. Oh my, did see some other lovelies, but fortunately Father Christmas has purloined all my funds for quite a spell now, so just window shopping. I will continue the vigil, don't worry and if I find her, believe me I shall PM you pronto. We must do all we can to reunite you with your love dove! Surely some other wonderful fellow M ladies will read this and keep a watch out. Don't lose hope, we'll find one, I know we will. (I am deeply sympathetic on the replacement cost, but again, one never knows what may surface and with all the online sites we have available to us, we shall keep a careful watch. I know it's infernal, but then the whole pricing of Mulberry bags has become mad, no?)
Your blue ostrich and red onion Bays sound just superb, in two of the most gorgeous ever shades and leathers. I've seen pics of each and thought how fab they were. Well done for hanging onto those two precious nuts.

As far as your stash dimensions, dear Mulberrygal, you made me laugh! 25 is a perfectly respectable number, particularly when you use most of them and chop and change amongst them. And the fact that you can say the cache is well pruned is commendable indeed. I therefore reserve the right to use you as a model!
Happy Christmas Eve, must trundle off to the shops now before it gets too late. Sending a big Christmas Eve hug your way :hugs:

Oh, thanks so much for friendly words, dear MM! And VC is always very tempting, I have recently seen a black Fitzrovia there, but for the health of my finances it was not available, otherwise I perhaps couldn't resist.. Your Leah looks also very stunning without the coin! A merry Christmas for you and all your beloved, and a merry Christmas also for all dear squirrels and the other purse forum members!:drinks:

What a beautiful shot of your Christmas tree, sweet Betty Kay! Lovely thing to see this Christmas Eve morning! Thank you for the kind words about Leah and wishing you and all your beloved ones a very Happy Christmas! Hope you are able to be with those you love most in the world :drinks::heart: (we'll just imagine something bubbly and sparkling in flutes there, instead of beer ;) xoxo)

Thank you, dear Mulberry Mermaid, what a beautiful tree,. In fact, my picture shows just a close-up from a wreath, a real tree would be too huge- and I need space for my handbags! Here we have already Christmas Eve, my DH is preparing our meal:biggrin:, and soon we'll start with something bubbly and sparkling! Also have wonderful Christmas days:hbeat::hugs:
