You know what's crazy? Even though I'm a ride or die LV girl, I have to say that Coach is actually making some really nice stuff right now. I recently purchased the men's bleecker backpack--it's absolutely gorgeous and incredible quality for its price point (under $700 for a large, all-leather backpack is a steal, imho). But I digress...back to LV, I do share your concerns that some of the recent designs seem to be pushing the boundary of good taste.
It's not that I'm against Coach, I'm not. If people want to buy Coach, by all means- they are great. they have good quality. they used to be this expensive fashion house as well. I can still remember when my mom bought her first Coach all leather bag in the 90s, it was a big deal. Then they went mainstream with the canvas and every 12 year old in the country had Coach. I just think LV is held in a different light.. just like Hermes is considered higher than LV. I think Coach is more mainstream and more affordable and for that reason is more popular.. but lately, with all these "pencil-case" types of items that LV is pushing out factory style, i find it hard to still consider them ultra luxury. Which is SO disappointing. I LOVE LV and wish they would go back to their amazing craftsmanship and focus on quality rather than quantity.. it seems those two switched priorities since NG took his spot. I don't know if I'm making any sense, and i i do NOT want to offend anyone because i always think to each their own.. it's just frustrating to me that i can't even see all the new bags because they are literally CHURNING them so fast with new styles and then discontinuing.

With all due respect, your perspective on Louis Vuitton is warped. I worked for Louis Vuitton over ten years ago and all bags and accessories were already made in giant factories. And it's been that way since Bernard Arnault took over 30 years ago! The scale doesn't prevent quality or craftsmanship.

I agree. I like LV still but 11 years ago when I joined this forum I had a fascination for the brand. There was this allure that has totally dissipated now. I walk into a store and will be happy buying a bag or two but back then, walking into the store was just another world. I'm not sure if I'm just a little bored by LV or if my tastes have changed or if I just don't care as much about buying and having things but LV is definitely churning out bags and styles by the truckloads and it's overwhelming in a not so great way. I remember 10 years ago LV made bags and they had staying power..... now it seems they make one then off it goes to discontinued island. I just remember having a sense of what LV was back then..... and now not so much? Who knows. This is my opinion obviously.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind.. and i think ALOT of people would agree that the quality of LV has gone absolutely DOWNHILL over the last few years. I don't mean they were never made in factories.. when i say factories.. i mean like just churning them out so quickly.

I so agree. It was like walking into the boutiques and the angels sang.
