Spend threshold for B/K/C

I think the price increases are factors to the pre-spend as well. My SA once told me last year that her month goal is roughly 450k USD.
And lately I visited her after the price increased, she said this month goal is 550k USD.
She also told me that if I fast enough to buy the desirable bags from H.com, I better buy it. Her bags allocation depends on the shipment and her performances. So if I want the specific specs non-QB from her it might takes very long until that bag arrives store and allocated to her.
This is so true. My Sales Specialist said the same thing. If you see something you like, purchase it right away. Even scarves sell pretty quick on the Hermès website. People of all walks of life buy at Hermès.

If the SAs of the stores keep hitting their sales goal, the bar would be raised anyway. So, it will result in the store keeping raising the bar for pre spend, for sales goals….

Ooo that’s true! On the plus side i heard/read that stores that keep hitting their sales goals get allocated more bags and push offers…
So prespend may increase but it may take less time to get a bag ? 🤔

Pre-spend will always increase because of price rises (and if demand continues to grow). The only influence on how long it takes is whether (or not) H make more quota bags.
H has been opening a lot of new factories lately (2 last year iirc) and plans to open at least one each year. But imo even if they were able to match supply to demand they would definitely still milk the scarcity of the bags as per their marketing techniques.

Agreed

But H also don't like too many items they have to store. More opportunities for bags, more (pre) spend. They have to manage real client's expectations as well as wider perceived consumerist desire.

Even B/KC and other 'display only' items are only held on to when there are real shortages.

Please do not think by more pre spending it means it will take less time to get a bag. On the contrary, some SMs do not approve bag offers if a customer pre spend a lot in a short period of time.

Not sure if I can agree with you entirely on the last statement “some SMs do not approve bag offers xxxxxx in a short span of time”.

It really depends on the “length and breadth/depth” of your H profile. What they don’t want are flash buyers. But for consist and long term clients with higher spending prowess, the higher prespend does indeed cut down the waiting time. That’s a fact.

I understand that you’re trying to discourage higher prespend but it’s a necessary evil that you can’t avoid in the H journey. Either you’re in or you’re out.

I have been wondering if even for consistent buyers, they want to space out your QBs. Of course, there are many factors like stock and wishlist and such. But, I have been wondering if there was some system in place…last visit my SA said to me “when was your last qb? Feb right? So yeah, you should be up for your next now…”.

Just thought it was interesting and was always curious as I hear of many people who seemed to get two offers back to back.

Could be related to my prespend or that I’m still a relatively new customer (~2 years, monthly visits, at 3.5:1 currently but waiting for a mk)

Oh wow is this goal including leather goods like QB/non-QB or excluding? That's quite a lot.

Pre spend is a fact of Hermes life. All Hermes customers know by now.
And might want to re read my sentence, it’s not about high pre spend only. It’s about high pre spend in a short period of time. It is often heard, u can get a quota bag offer with high spend in short time, but may not get a popular color that she doesn’t want. And the high pre spend customer gets mad, blah blah blah….all the happenings in the maintaining of relationship thread.

For consistent and long time buyers, such customers do not need to have very high pre spend to get good offers from the store. Unless you are in a store with the pre spend “price” bidding system, generally they go by time.

It has to do with managing inventory/sales goals on monthly basis, satisfying SAs (if working on comms basis, need to eat every month) and customers equally no matter walk in or long time customers.

I am not against pre spending but pre spending in a short time, excessively. That just increases the pre spend for all the Hermes customers in general. Anyway, the Hermes corporate wins it all.

When demand is the way it is right now, and when a huge part of the customer base is focused on iconic bags, SMs and SAs tend to look at it as "how do I keep as many clients happy at once as possible?" To some extent that means offering those bags in a kind of cadence. If a client has not had a bag or bag offer in a long while, they may be "up" whereas if you bought a Kelly last month, maybe not so much.
"Back-to-back offers" - do you mean offers, or bag purchases? Anytime you don't accept a bag it's perfectly likely to get another offer very soon.
