Spend threshold for B/K/C

Just to set expectations - I think a pastel pink GHW mini Kelly is the most difficult non-LE bag to get right now. (1- currently only one or two pastel pinks in production, 2 - light pinks almost never come in GHW, 3 - sooooo many big spenders want this exact combo) Prespend expectations will surely be in the $50,000+ category (if they even consider someone who hasn't been a client for several years).
Ya girl can only dream lol ! Hehe

I spent more than 150.000€ (approx. $164.000 US) in my boutique during 2023 and did not get Chypre sandals in my specific size/color! Chypre sandals are very rare and hard to get. So pleeease don't take this personal. Demand is crazy these days..
Yup  I’m sure you, like me, are happy with the stuff you have purchased, but for sandals, I ended up with a ton of Birkenstocks lol. My SA simply could not get gold leather chypres with black soles in my size. My SA was able to get a black pair for DH. This is a prime example of the reality of H. An SA cannot miraculously manifest the __ item of your desire at will if it doesn’t exist. But, they will do their utmost to try to find one for regular clients that are patient and not a total PITA to deal with. Sometimes, I wonder if they might make an offer to make an annoying customer go away, but who knows. Regardless, I don’t think the prespend is set in stone, but it is certainly way above 1X or 2X for many of us. I don’t see the point of deluding yourself that minimal spend will get everything in one’s dreams.

ETA: I hate the website. Not sure if they still have that really annoying prancing pony icon, but I don’t want anything enough to find out.

Curious, what does "non-LE" mean?

I'm so curious about this comment! It sounds like you're suggesting that a SO might be easier to obtain than a regular B30 offer? :amazed:
It can be. Depends on your location, your desired specs, and your relationship with your SA/SM. If as original poster commented, the immediately offered a quota back bc she expressed dissatisfaction (my short interpretation not her words), then the SM may accommodate an SO. I have seen plenty of contributions from regular tPF regulars, that this is possible. Have also seen posted regarding paris trips with no prespend and no relationship. Anything is possible at H.

Yes, as many posters have said, with H anything is possible. I was offered SO in Paris with no previous SA relationship.

One of my favorite quotes on TPF by @acrowcounted (from the San Francisco thread) demonstrates that anything can happen irrespective of prespend, but I wouldn’t automatically assume that I’m going to be the lucky one who gets a popular bag offer with minimal 1X (excluding leather) spend.
There are no rules about prespend in the USA, it’s just a gauge for market competitiveness. It’s not you vs a rulebook, it’s you vs all the other clients. There needs to be a reason to give you the bag over everyone else that shops at your store who also want that bag. The reason could be you’ve spent more, you visit more often, you’ve never made a return, you were finally the one to buy that unsalable poncho that’s been on display for three years, you’ve never gotten a bag before, you’ve been shopping there the longest, it’s been three years since your last quota bag, you’re the only one who can make it to the store to purchase before the month ends tomorrow, you happen to ask right as the manager gets a second date confirmation with the hottie from the bar, or they just plain like you more for whatever reason. None of these factors alone guarantee you a bag and none of them automatically take you out of the running. Your profile doesn’t expire so just be the best well rounded easy to work with client and good things will eventually follow.
ETA: In the US, there is no official prespend, but I feel that in a competitive area, where many shoppers are high spending regulars, the unofficial prespend for new clients might reset in between bags. DH and I happen to love H RTW, and as a result, we maintain a 5X plus per offer. (I use 5X as a very rough estimate at which point I stop the calculation. I also reject more offers than I accept bc I have a substantial bag collection already). So, if you are not a lover of boutique merchandise, a reseller, even one that charges a premium, may actually be the fast, sure, and unfortunately cost effective choice. (Of course authenticate before purchase via @bababebi or other; buy only from a reputable source that takes returns; pay with PayPal goods & services backed with amex; and do the other advisable things.

I read about your experience @FrenchNewbie! Congrats! I've also seen a Youtuber documenting the same experience, so I knew magic can happen in Paris!
I didn't know that this is something that can happen outside of Paris, though. My SA in the US always spoke about SOs as a more difficult goal than a regular leather offer (maybe not super difficult compared to a MK offer, but definitely compared to a B30 offer).
A friend of mine (also US) has inquired about SOs and was told they need a minimum of 3 QB offers prior to a SO offer.

Yeah. I am not holding my breath either, but I have asked my SA in the US about the possibility of a SO.

If my next bag doesn't appear soon, maybe I'll bring it up again

Although I'm not a friend of resellers - reading such a bit frustrating experiences: I could understand that very well.
Maybe others think differently, though personally, I really think quite some K/B - even new 25! - in a price range above 15.000 might be more difficult to sell anymore in EU - please check on VC and other sites.
And - now I have to run into hiding - I even think prices will drop further - so for those who aren't in a super hurry: why not wait a few more months - . E.g. a family member could have bought a B25 in gold and in black PHW - new - for 14.500 Euro each (from a private seller in Germany - decided against phw and buying from reseller) - maybe checking private sale sites and only buying in person might help ...
Yes! I’ve noticed a few popular reseller sites and even a personal shopper reseller drop their prices. New Birkin 25s for less than $25k. I don’t buy designer bags for resale value so i’m not disappointed. But i’m sure they will drop more! It’s seeming more and more like the way to go since I already have most of the Hermes non-bag items that I want.

Very true! I have a good friend who is very well off and decided she can't be bothered to play the game. One day she felt like buying a Birkin, so she did! She found one from a reputable source- and it arrived a couple days later in the color, size, and hardware she wanted and she couldn't be happier!

ETA: You know, if a Birkin is considered a status symbol, then perhaps one could even argue that buying at a premium from a reseller is even more of a flex! Like I'm so rich, I don't care if I'm paying 2-3 times what it goes for retail. I want what I want, and I want it now! (Unfortunately I'm too cheap to pay the premium and apparently I like to torture myself with the H game LOL!)
My daily struggle :P

Agreed. Box kelly is also hard to come by.
