Let me start by saying our experiences are similar including getting offered whatever I want at Chanel. I started shopping with H last Feb (with C in 2015). I’ve only had one wishlist offer which was a “coveted” item. My next offer will possibly take long because I want another “coveted” item. Over time I’ve learned that my SA does not veer from what’s on my wishlist. I’ve also learned my SA has lots of high spenders so for now I’m able to get ONE (not two) wishlists item a year. She’s not going to randomly offer me things because she’s also learned that I’m specific about my requests and I travel a lot. So if I were to compare my experience to others constantly getting offers I could get frustrated thinking “why don’t I get lots of offers, too?” I know my shopping relationship and don’t expect it to be like others.

I get your frustrations but you have to take your expectations waaaaay down and understand that SAs don’t read minds. How can a SA advocate for you for a bag when they don’t know what you want? That leaves you down to getting what’s left over and we know that’s not a plenty. You’re not the only one spending money, look around, we all are! Unless you are buying furniture and high end jewelry with diamonds spend is only a part of the equation. H is not Chanel and you shouldn’t compare your experiences, especially if you've been shopping with C longer.

Under a year is not a lot of time at all. The biggest difference you are totally forgetting to add to this equation is to see how your store/SM/SA operates. Are you at a larger store with lots of high spenders? Are you at a smaller store that don’t get much inventory? Does your SA have a lot of clients? What is he/she saying about stock/deliveries/possible wait time? How does your SA prefer you to communicate? Have you read your local city’s thread here to see what shopping is like? Have you asked about when you can put in a wishlist? You can’t build a relationship if you arent asking questions about things you would like to know to the actual person you are working with and how things at your store works.

All stores are seemingly different. In multiple threads some people are saying they get one bag a year and others say it’s two. Some very modest posters also don’t disclose that they are very high spenders or have established roots years ago and has transcended the need to spend! Those that have been shopping for multiple years/decades get more offers per year. So as a new client that wants 10 bags, from a store that *possibly* offer one bkc and one non that’s at least five years.

I suggest taking some time and reading a lot of these threads to get a better overall, not exact, idea of how things work. Otherwise your journey will be extremely frustration with all of the high expectations and missing info. Good luck on your journey. It’s only frustrating when you let it be! Keep in mind it’s not personal, it’s H.
great post

ETA: Also agree with @ffice16 to spend generously and wait patiently

articulated beautifully. five years…that’s exactly what i have envisioned. client spending habits have never come up in discussion, but based on visual observation, it seems high. my sa has mentioned inventory for ALL leather goods is very low. i just remembered!! as i was leaving my sa asked me to email or text her things i want. this experience is so unique. i’m getting a hang of it now after reading these comments. i haven’t asked for anything specific. i’m too passive in temperament.
time to step up my game.

Sorry to hear that you left the boutique feeling heart-broken. Did you already spend a lot at Hermes boutique?
At the current environment when so many new H enthusiasts want to score a desirable bag from Hermes, many of them are spending 2X - 3X of the bag retail price and still waiting for their offers (birkin/kelly/constance). This also happens to some Hermes clients that have been with the brand for several years, especially at the competitive boutiques where there are lots of big spenders.

What was shared in social media can be smoke and mirror a lot of times. The reality is, shopping at Hermes and getting continuous bag offers from Hermes take lots of time (patience) and money. It is a long journey and please do not invest too much in it emotionally.
i love this. thank you for the gentle reality check. yes, i have spent quite a bit as everyone has. on all things i love…definitely some things i didn’t even know i needed. but they were too pretty to resist. ill spend time reading this forum, i have lots to learn. thank goodness…patience is one of my strengths. i just didn’t realize it would be tested to this extent. i’m playing long game, so i’m here to stay.

Ive never asked about spending but much like you I’ve observed the person shopping before almost always buys a lot! She’s also mentioned how full her appointments are and the amount of requests per bags they get is uneven.

Ahhh so your SA prefers for you to email/texts your requests! Not in person! Go with that. My SA is the same. Email an wishlist asap! Once you email/text asks your sa if they have suggestions on your requests. That way you can confirm receipt and then they can give you feedback on what’s possible.

When I sent my list in my sa responds with things like “we rarely get x in store” or “we get this in store but it may take some time” or “we only get this color in b35” which is why I know my next offer will take time or I will not be getting a gold with ghw b35 this year since the store director only ordered black and grays. Boooo but that helps me manage my expectations.

It takes time to get use to the different style shopping. I get it. Just be patient. It does get better and less frustrating once you understand that your experience will be a personal one and not an exact way of others! I hope you get an offer soon! Best thing is when you feel the want to buy something there’s always something g to get at Chanel lol. They are like a good tag team for my shopping needs lol

H is a totally different ball game than what u r used to.

I dont feel like I have the luxury to wait for offers from SA. Almost never happened except for that wallet she had to “beg” her manager to release it to me. So most of the time I gave her a list of exactly what I want.

haven’t asked for anything specific
I dont generally ask my home store for specific things. It’s more that he knows my taste and what I have and can somewhat extrapolate. But this does take longer. in fact, he was chatting with a dear friend who is a long-standing Wall St client when they came up with the idea of a sellier 25B for me. . .

i needed to read this today. i left the boutique so broken hearted. i never ask for anything but it’s “known” that i’d like a large collection of handbags. all of the styles not just the highly coveted. maybe i haven’t been specific enough to my sa? idk. we’ve built a strong relationship and i shop several times a month. large shop. idk what more i can possibly do? maybe you can advise, i’m certainly not pushy but at the same time, it would have been nice to get “something”….even a charm.
Hi Lizzie

I hope you are feeling better after all the various replies from the community. I shan’t repeat what’s been mentioned here. Perhaps you can have a candid conversation with your SA, indicating your top three preferences (be it qb or non-qb). Be assertive but also respectful because after all, you enjoy a good relationship with your SA. We always want to maintain a good relationship. See her reaction to your choices then follow up with an email or text as per her request.

See how it goes from there. Sometimes we might overthink especially when it’s quite a new game for you. Sometimes, things aren’t that complicated. A connection with your SA might help to eradicate the ambiguity.

Best wishes! Keep us posted

Oh man... How I wish you were around and posting about shopping at H and managed expectations back in early 2021 when I started at my boutique; I would've been less stressed out during that 15 month wait!

Live and learn.

I wish I was into H then, too! I’d have another year under my belt  At the time I was Chanel focused. I couldn’t “court” both c and h at the same time! The stress!

Yep live and learn. I’m definitely still learning. I’ve also been lucky enough to have built relationships with some members here well before I started h that started H eons ago! They’ve been very helpful with the advice and I trust them!

I’m really sorry to hear of your experience. I was frustrated shopping at my previous boutique as well, and would leave the store disappointed time after time. I thought I had a great relationship with my SA, got texts for new items that came in, shopped large each time I went in like you, but no offers despite telling me it was coming. Enough was enough (because shopping is supposed to be fun right?) and I finally decided to just walk away from a large purchase history (let’s just say well over 5x since my last QB) and started shopping at a different boutique about 2 months ago. I met a great SA, and maybe the stock is better at this other boutique, and maybe he’s newer and doesn’t have a lot of clients, but he offered me a B25 in noir ostrich on my second visit with very little spend history (I had only purchased a couple of inexpensive RTW from him the time before as I was still trying to feel out the store). I just visited for the third time and he offered me a mini Lindy in nata ostrich, along with a touch pegase. I’m not sure of my exact spend at this boutique, but not including leather, I’m guessing I’m around 2.5:1 (1 being a regular B30) currently after my most recent purchases. I’ve shopped with him 3 times in a little over 2 months, and both bags were surprise offers. I don’t have a wishlist but we have talked about what colors and leathers I like. I know this is very unusual and I got super lucky I was randomly assigned to this SA my first visit, but I am so happy I decided to just walk away from my old boutique. I feel like I went from one extreme (a lot of spend and no offer) to the other (not as much spend and 2 offers a month apart!)

Is there another store you can switch to? Or do you travel to another place regularly enough to make that your home store? What about trying Paris?

You sound like how I felt at my previous boutique, and that’s just not how shopping, even at Hermes, should be. I would try some of the great suggestions as far as communicating with your SA that have been mentioned above, but if there is no change, then I would say cut your losses and find another store. :flowers:

Edited to add: This is just my own experience. I understand everyone has a different situation and every store is also very different. Just wanted to share in case my experience might help you.

Sorry, my post may have been confusing. I only have one account. My DH does have 2 accounts with 2 different phone numbers, emails, as well as physical mailing address, but I think the phone number is the most important. Our SA's know that we shop in both places, we are fully transparent with them about that. They also know when I go shop in Paris (because I bring back treats and show them what I got.) They seem to be cool with it as long as I continue to shop/spend for each profile. My newest SA (since I recently switched home stores for various reasons) pulled up my account to see my shopping history at my prior store, as well as DH's account at our vacation city, since DH has a small spend at this new store. Vacation city people know it's not our primary residence, so obviously they realize I have another home store and are cool with it. I have a great relationship with my SA in vacation city and he ships me stuff to my primary residence all the time and sets stuff aside for me when I visit. Hope that helps. @FrenchNewbie, you can DM me if you have further questions. :flowers:
Hi! Does your SA ever share your spend profile with you?

We don't talk about purchase history... The only comment my new SA made regarding my purchase history at my old boutique was "yeah it's big." I don't really keep track. I just buy what I like. Actually my DH was doing the math in his head and the number literally shocked me, so it's probably better if I stick to selective addition...
