hi, i recently did my first hermes purchase at an airport during lay over, dropped >10k usd for a fine jewellery bracelet (maybe under influence of alcohol or dopamine) and hope to work towards getting a K. as expected, i wouldnt expect to just walk into a shop and come out with a K on first visit, they offered a Picotin (and also being generous to offer whatever they have at the moment in store), but we took the Picotin because its really cute. But later on the SA says that they can never offer a K or B which really gutted us sleepless. ._., not that we dont like what we bought, but we could have bought it at a store/SA which can one day build towards offering a K or B which is the first little milestone we hope to achieve. T_T is there any advice if it is possible to use our recent purchase in the airport to build towards a downtown store that can one day offer a K/B. or I have to rebuild from scratch (likely meaning to buy another couple 5 figure fine jewellery)

unfortunately airports don't have B/Ks. they do have Cs. Maybe you can build up towards a C at the airport and start a new profile in downtown store for the B/Ks. airports and downtown stores (and online) all have separate P&Ls...so it is unlikely you can link airport purchases with downstown purchases towards the B/K..

I have to rebuild from scratch
Rebuild from scratch. On the bright side, you do have a piece of FJ that you love. Since it’s done, I would absolutely focus on the positives. If you decide that you don’t like other boutique offerings, do consider resale which can yield precisely what you want at your own timeframe and often costs less than prespend at a boutique. Your local boutique may also not have your particular piece of FJ in stock; stock at the airport is often quite different, and many of us do buy items we love wherever we can find them.

sorry i am unsure what does the advice mean "do consider resale which can yield precisely what you want at your own timeframe and often costs less than prespend at a boutique." i feel like its important but i'm missing something between the line. to resale the FJ or to resale the most valuable bag offered at airport in order to work on a downtown boutique?

I think she is simply saying to consider purchasing what you like from a trusted reseller where you might find the bag of your dreams without having to jump through hoops or consider prespend. No subtext implied as our dear 880 enjoys shopping at boutiques as well as trusted resellers.

Simply put, 880 is suggesting you just buy from a reseller if you’re not interested in other H goodies or care to “play the game”.

Thank you @luckylove, that’s exactly what I meant :flowers:

@airtaiga , depending on your location, it might be worthwhile to look at individual boutique threads to see what prespend is like in your area (this subforum, Hermes shopping, but scroll down for the city threads, such as Singapore, Paris, London, etc )
Totally agree! I shop a lot at airport boutiques as they often have stock that you don't see in regular stores and the duty is already taken off the price. This means it is cheaper to shop the airport than city boutiques- so the pros are if you want a kelly belt and are not interested in getting a bag then it is better to make the purchase from the airport than the boutique. Cons- airport boutiques do not get Kellys/Birkins and your spending does not count for pre-spend towards quota bags at boutiques.

Be aware that you cannot combine spending across boutiques- so if you shop in NY, LAS, and LA your respond is the spend only at the one location. IF you spend in multiple boutiques it may actually hurt you because you have not been "loyal" to one location. The recommendation is to concentrate you're spend in one boutique.

If you don't want to play the game, wait and jump through hoops then going the resale route through a reputable reseller may be a win/win- you get exactly what you want, you don't have to wait and if you don't have a long list of items you want/love in the boutique this may be the best option.

Enjoy your beautiful new FJ!

I’ve read quite a bit that a good technique is to figure out what Hermes’ current marketing goals are/ items that they are eager to sell at the moment. Ofcourse, as always stated, it’s important to love what you buy.

For example, when the makeup line came out, many people were joking that all it took was purchasing a highlighter that pushed their next offer.

I am just curious if anyone has ideas on what Hermes’ focus is on right now.
