it’s been under a year. a curated collection would include around ten pieces. i’m not even thinking of multiples at this time. two quota bags per year than scatter some other non quota bags in. i think that’s realistic. please correct me if i’m way of
Depends on so many factors including where you shop, how much you spend, H policies that limit the number of bags of each type that can be purchased etc. It is definitely a very ambitious target that will be hard for most to achieve in the current climate and could take years. If you travel a lot outside of your country, the non quota bags may be easier to obtain in your travels.

thank you for managing my expectations. clearly what we see on social media is not always reality.

Two quota bags in what colors and sizes? What non quota bags are top of your list?

SAs are not mind readers and it’s much easier for an SA to advocate for a client to get a bag that’s “their number one” or “top of the list” than tell the SM that all that is on their client’s list is “bags”.

It’s time to figure out what is on your wishlist and communicate with your SA. If you’re not sure, ask to see the swatch box. Ask to try on any sample bags that they have if you’re unsure of how sizes will look on you. Understand what colors are seasonal or not so you aren’t asking for something that might not ever be possible.

I keep a relatively short wishlist that I share with my SA. It works for us because she only has a couple things to keep top of mind. Then we discuss what is next when the time comes.

Good luck!

regarding the lindy, i’m well aware that every bag is hard to come by. once again, with my spending history, i thought something would be offered. clearly i’m mistaken.
To tell you the truth, in my journey starting from 2021, I have only been offered a bag 2 times.

1 time my SA told me I can choose any bag on a small section of the display wall (2023). Another time, my SA asked me if I want one of the same bags that other clients are looking at (2021).

Offers happened once in a blue moon. All other bags I specifically asked for and waited between 3 to 8 months. If you are looking for the social media experience that you get a surprise from your SA….I dunno, maybe ur SA is not the fairy godmother type.

agree! it’s time now to get down to business. i was looking for guidance on color and hardware selection. i guess i need to make a selection and be flexible?
It’s just a matter of telling your SA that you specifically want a bag. Otherwise you can say “I would like to get a lindy26, which colour and hardware do you think suits me?”

Or for a quota bag “I have been building my profile here since xxxx, do you think it’s strong enough to request for a b/k/c xxxx?”

@Lizzie2022 under one year isn’t a long time; a lot of the members here have been collecting for more than a decade so comparing or having similar expectations isn’t very fair to both them and yourself.

My concern though is that you’re coming across way too emotionally invested into this; ultimately Hermes is a business and their products are really luxuries, & not necessities, in life. It’s easy to get sucked into the chase but at the end of the day it’s not something whose ownership is going to alter your entire existence.

I can understand and feel your disappointment. To give you a sense that waiting is the norm right now, I’ve been waiting for my first quota bag for almost 16 months now. Would you consider the reseller or preloved route for your first bag such that you can feel satisfied for a while and tide your wait?

this is exactly what i need to do. when we first met, i had no idea what i wanted. now i know so much more. would communicating this over text be appropriate with pictures attached?

thank you for sharing. yes, i would consider the preloved market for leather goods selling at retail, but i’m not inclined to spend over retail….yet. ;)

In person and don’t give your SA a list of ten bags. You should factor your spend into your requests if you want something rare or very popular and realize if you get a coveted non quota bag it may delay a quota bag. I suggest asking for what you really really want being mindful to ask for available colors.

Let me start by saying our experiences are similar including getting offered whatever I want at Chanel. I started shopping with H last Feb (with C in 2015). I’ve only had one wishlist offer which was a “coveted” item. My next offer will possibly take long because I want another “coveted” item. Over time I’ve learned that my SA does not veer from what’s on my wishlist. I’ve also learned my SA has lots of high spenders so for now I’m able to get ONE (not two) wishlists item a year. She’s not going to randomly offer me things because she’s also learned that I’m specific about my requests and I travel a lot. So if I were to compare my experience to others constantly getting offers I could get frustrated thinking “why don’t I get lots of offers, too?” I know my shopping relationship and don’t expect it to be like others.

I get your frustrations but you have to take your expectations waaaaay down and understand that SAs don’t read minds. How can a SA advocate for you for a bag when they don’t know what you want? That leaves you down to getting what’s left over and we know that’s not a plenty. You’re not the only one spending money, look around, we all are! Unless you are buying furniture and high end jewelry with diamonds spend is only a part of the equation. H is not Chanel and you shouldn’t compare your experiences, especially if you've been shopping with C longer.

Under a year is not a lot of time at all. The biggest difference you are totally forgetting to add to this equation is to see how your store/SM/SA operates. Are you at a larger store with lots of high spenders? Are you at a smaller store that don’t get much inventory? Does your SA have a lot of clients? What is he/she saying about stock/deliveries/possible wait time? How does your SA prefer you to communicate? Have you read your local city’s/country thread here to see what shopping is like? Have you asked about when you can put in a wishlist? You can’t build a relationship if you arent asking questions about things you would like to know to the actual person you are working with and how things at your store works.

All stores are seemingly different. In multiple threads some people are saying they get one bag a year and others say it’s two. Some very modest posters also don’t disclose that they are very high spenders or have established roots years ago and has transcended the need to spend! Those that have been shopping for multiple years/decades get more offers per year. So as a new client that wants 10 bags, from a store that *possibly* offer one bkc and one non that’s at least five years.

I suggest taking some time and reading a lot of these threads to get a better overall, not exact, idea of how things work. Otherwise your journey will be extremely frustration with all of the high expectations and missing info. Good luck on your journey. It’s only frustrating when you let it be! Keep in mind it’s not personal, it’s H.

i needed to read this today. i left the boutique so broken hearted. i never ask for anything but it’s “known” that i’d like a large collection of handbags. all of the styles not just the highly coveted. maybe i haven’t been specific enough to my sa? idk. we’ve built a strong relationship and i shop several times a month. large shop. idk what more i can possibly do? maybe you can advise, i’m certainly not pushy but at the same time, it would have been nice to get “something”….even a charm.

Sorry to hear that you left the boutique feeling heart-broken. Did you already spend a lot at Hermes boutique?
At the current environment when so many new H enthusiasts want to score a desirable bag from Hermes, many of them are spending 2X - 3X of the bag retail price and still waiting for their offers (birkin/kelly/constance). This also happens to some Hermes clients that have been with the brand for several years, especially at the competitive boutiques where there are lots of big spenders.

What was shared in social media can be smoke and mirror a lot of times. The reality is, shopping at Hermes and getting continuous bag offers from Hermes take lots of time (patience) and money. It is a long journey and please do not invest too much in it emotionally.
