Spend threshold for B/K/C

I haven’t gone through this thread or any thread about pre spend/getting an offer in a while since I’ve developed a good relationship with my SA for the past few years.
However, I thought it’d be fun to read the trends over the last year and see where a typical ratio is like with everything going on. I’m not shocked to see 2-3:1 being normal but if this is normal for everyone, then I honestly don’t understand why some friend of mine got an offer with less than 1:1 spend for a B25 in a neutral color (one of the most popular ones) in a competitive US store?
I thought my store was competitive so my ratio has always been more than this, and I have no problem spending on items I love (over the years I’ve developed real love for H items beyond just bags), but when others are spending 2-3+:1 at the same store with the same SM, how is it fair that some SAs offer some customer a highly desired quota bag for 1-? (Mind you, the friend did not buy anything else since getting the offer either, not sure if next time she wants a bag, the ratio would still be this low..
People get funny talking about prespend. Do you know for a fact it was 1:1? Sometimes people say that so they don’t want others to know how much they spent.

Or she got really lucky. Sometimes that can happen but don’t expect lightning to strike twice.

We hang out a lot, including visiting her home, etc. so if she purchased a lot more than 1:1 then I'd probably notice. I know for a fact it's over 1:1 (so not 1- as she shared to others) since I've seen H items totaling over 1 before she got the bag, but it's still very low amount pre spend for a new account considering everything I've read here including other friends' experience in the same store.

It's possible she's lucky. It's probably not good to feel unfair but if she does get another bag with low pre-spend I probably won't be able to help it haha, especially since her SA should have known her not to spend for over half a year after getting a quota bag... (I always thought this is bad signal to continue relationship?)

I dunno about definitely being able to notice dear. Even my husband, who *lives* in the same house as me, doesn’t realize how much my “pre spend” is.

Also, comparing yourself to others is a sure way to be unhappy :flowers:

+1 with @momoc

No one said H is fair. Having said that, someone else on this forum once posted that her friend got a coveted Qb with an estimated 1:1 spend, and it turned out that the friend simply counted items for her own use, not gifts for family or purchases by others on her acct.
Thanks for sharing that. It does make me feel somewhat better haha. All my other friends are not so lucky and most of us are in the same range across different stores in US lol. I honestly do not mind my prespend as I love everything I bought (I love RTW and even some watches!). But cases like these do make me wonder sometimes

:panic::tup: I bet most DH's don't know how much we pre spend. Sometimes I hide deliveries in the guest room closet or say my shoes aren't new when he asks lol

Sharing purchase history with your friends is hard because they fall into 2 camps:
1) They're not too familiar with H (just know that you need some kind of purchase history) and think you're crazy to spend that much for a bag
2) They are familiar with H and think you're lying or underestimating your spend
I feel that I can't win and avoid these conversations as much as I can

I think also you tend to hear anecdotes about someone being lucky having a lower "spend ratio" because thats worthy of a brag for some people, but that doesn't mean it's the norm. You just tend to hear those more because not many people, especially outside of this community is going to boast how much they spent before getting an offer for a QB (at least here, it's used for reference and to set a somewhat realistic expectations). The more you compare your experience (especially to those whom you don't know the while story), the more unhappy you'll be. Additionally, getting a QB is (or should) not a race :) Hope you get an offer soon!

Ya some people definitely understate their spend, but also, some people go the other direction and say they spent more than they actually did. People are weird. The point, in either case, often seems to stem from a desire to come off as “better” than reality / or in the case that it’s truthful then better than others (the norm) - whether that’s “I’m so lucky I didn’t need to spend much” or “I’m so rich I don’t even care” is just the flavor they prefer. If you are jealous then that’s kinda mission accomplished.

I have a handful of very good friends who are fellow H lovers (met online or IRL) and share a lot of useful info with me and I treasure them. But it’s honestly (increasingly?) rare to find one. And I’d still never ask them what their spend ratio is.

ETA: and that’s another reason why I’m always grateful for those who are knowledgeable and helpful on this forum

This is why I don’t take shopping bags or boxes lol. If it’s a naked item, shorn of its tissue paper, tags, and other stuff, it can’t really be brand new, can it :P

i do not discuss my shopping habits with non TPF friends or my family. I don’t know anyone else’s exact prespend. I have had to repeatedly tell my mom that she cannot just walk in and buy a birkin or kelly, but I don’t mention prespend or anything else.

Does anyone know which bags go towards prespend or all bags are not part of prespend now?
There’s no magical “prespend number” to hit so it’s an impossible question. All non quota bags will help your profile to some extent, though the more coveted ones (Constance, mini Lindy, Evelyne tpm, etc) are likely to also delay a quota bag because you’ve already been somewhat “satisfied” so you no longer are as high of a priority. To get an idea of how much an item helps your profile, look at the resale price. If an item sells on the second hand market for a huge discount from retail, then it is likely to help your profile more. Regardless, most prespend numbers quoted online are excluding all bag purchases.

In the US, it’s not about spend. A selling supervisor in a US store told me exactly that. So, I think that’s why we have the most discrepant in terms of spend is in the US.

I have heard stories in Singapore and Hong Kong. Some customers who have evidence of such cases will go to the store and complain to the SM why certain customers get certain bags with certain prespend, waiting for certain period but they could not at the same conditions. Or why were certain customers offered certain bag but they could not get the same when they asked.

I’m guessing that’s why stores in asia try to be more “fair”. Or at least try to tell their customers not to post on social media or share pre spend.
