I think you would need to look through at least 150 pages of The thread titled Maintaining a H relationship and the Hermes thread of your own country.

Agree with others that say look in your local thread (NY;BH; Paris; London; Singapore etc) and of course go visit your local store. It is different for everyone, and going reseller can be quicker and less expensive unless you love the non leather boutique offerings. Also the search feature (magnifying glass, upper right corner) is very useful

@smoothsailor , I still read that thread. And I still get confused when someone says they’re long-standing customers of about 4 years or 10, and when asked about prespend they say they’ve barely bought anything

Who needs books when there’s countless long threads to read  I have been thoroughly intrigued by reading a lot of these threads!

I will say I’m glad I didn’t read this thread before going into the store earlier this year. It would have totally clouded my judgement.

I went in Feb 2022 just to “pick out” my SA. I’m really good at reading people and their energy. I went in and the first person I saw (after the door guard) was the SM (didn’t know at the time) and there were a couple of SAs standing waiting. I made eye contact and smiled at one she smiled back with a little shyness to her. I felt she’d be a good person as she could maybe sense my hesitation. So I asked her a question. She then lightened up! I told her that I had been a Chanel lover and that I had put off going into Hermes far too long and nows the time. I also told her that I just wanted to look around to get familiar with the store. She gave me a mini tour. She took the time to explain that stock has been really low lately but just have patience. I bought some scarves, bracelets and shoes. I thanked her for her time and left. No mention of bags whatsoever. Things need to be organic for me and I didn’t feel the need to. She gave me her card with her number and email. I left. I texted her later and told her it was nice meeting her and thanks for taking the time with me. She responded immediately saying likewise.

My second visit which was like June. I text her to see if I could come in for some things. She responded immediately with a yes! I bought more shoes, scarves, a bracelet and a belt. I was looking for rtw stuff but they didn’t have my size. At the end when I was checking she asked me if there would be bags that I’m interested in. I told her yes. She said ok great send me an email of your wishlist items. I said will do!

July I got a text from her asking if I were in town (I mentioned earlier that we travel a lot (she has great memory!) and could I get to the store. I told her it would be a couple days. She said she had a MS constance 18 in chèvre w ghw for me! The MS constance with ghw was at the top of my list. She was excited once I picked it up and said “your first wishlist item! Yay!” Obviously, so was I.

At that point I’d only visited her 3 times. I hadn’t spent a ton. I haven’t bought fine jewelry, rtw or homewares yet and am really interested in(but again it has to be organic and stuff that I really like). My local store stock is awful! For me, it was fairly easy to get a C. Now I want a B and a C1 24 so I wait lol.

One of my visits she mentioned “maybe you should look at watches!” I’m guessing that was a hint but I’m not in the market for a watch right now. I’m not easily pressured lol

I can tell each time she is trying to get to know me. She’s also paying attention to my style and how I dress. She’s picked up (and mentioned) that I mostly wear pink, black and white :PShe asks about my life a little. She tells me about her hubby and kids (I try not to ask her personal questions but she always volunteers lol). Also, how she and her husband are always working and don’t have much time to spend with the kids (that made me a little sad for her). I recently shared with her that I’m going to Paris for my bday. She was super excited and said she can’t wait to hear what happens and that I MUST go to all of the Hermès stores there and could we take her with us (jokingly of course).

As of now, without leather goods I don’t *think* I’m at 1:1 and definitely wasn’t at my C offer. I may be but I’m trying not to get caught up in *I need to spend x to get y*.

Sorry for the long post but that’s my somewhat data point. I can tell relationships matter at my store. However, that doesnt mean that if I went and bought that leather bed frame/structure on the wall upstairs that I wouldn’t get any bag that I wanted lol. I honestly don’t know if my home store (US) is competitive or not.

so you went in
you were nice
you were appreciative
you went back four months later
you were becoming a regular - not frequent customer =
you built up a kind of trust
you were not calculating
you were treated well

that's what happens to nice customers who are clearly not scheming
Basically. Others will thank you for the cliff notes, I’m sure!

Thank you! My SA and I had a good talk about the leather wall furnishing. Apparently a whole team of people come out. The squares are also moveable/interchangeable(?)!

Love your H story so far!!! I'm so glad you came over to the orange side, beware, it's so addictive  We are far from our Louboutin days! I regret spending (wasting?!) so much money on those shoes I barely ever wear anymore!!

Thank you! Haha I see that it’s addictive. At least I have no choice but to pace myself.

Those were the days! I was just looking at all my shoes the other day and definitely a waste. I don’t have a daughter and my sisters can’t fit them. Some of them I can’t part with because of the memories lol

Same! And we wouldn't make anything selling them anyway, not worth it!

Thank you all for the useful advice. I was just shocked about hint and since that I have been self critical about whether I have been spending the “fair amount”. I have been offered C18 and she suggested that I should look for other items for the upcoming appointment. I am just paranoid that she is expecting me to spend certain amount again and giving me mean word if I am not spending enough. I am a regular customer albeit not big spender (About $8k a year) and she always suggests me to buy furniture and jewellery but I don't feel interested at this moment (definitely not furniture, my husband will kill me). My SA made it sound like everything is decided by the store manager and he is responsible for allocating bags so its out of her control. ‍♀

I bought a Lindy before my K28 offer last year so I was curious if that was part of the spend threshold. If yes that I think I am > 1:1 then she shouldn't shame me! If not then I would be maybe 0.5:1.
Buy a twilly. Twilly diversion is good (and somewhat on the affordable side). Lots of twilly on offer and it takes a while for ppl to decide among the copious amounts of twillys.

Tip goes out to ppl who get told to consider adding ‘more items’.

Tip: wear your Apple Watch and they won’t ask. Except they may tell you to consider their watch straps.

None has ever asked me to look at watches. That’s because my watch has a wait list worse than B&K and it isn’t a Rolex.
