Are you here in Canada too? I feel like instead of varies by SA, maybe it varies on the store? My store has too many affluent clients to compete with the x numbers of bags that is allocated to the store. they would want us to buy those hard to sale items for the quota bags. I am generally very compliant to what my SA hints me to buy. I draw my line at the furniture. I wont be paying 20k for a lamp.

I am also in Canada and I agree that it really depends on the SA. Some SAs are very strict on the spending and will tell you straight you still need $XXX in your profile before you will be offered a bag. For my SA, it's more like a mutual relationship in the way that she expects me to come and spend once a while to show my "loyalty" and by the way bags don't count towards profile. She mentioned that she has clients who rarely show up in the store but when they come they just ask for a quota bag and it just wouldn't work!!!

I think it might have been a variation of sayings by SAs. I remember my SA in the US said all leather goods don’t count but I find that odd. There are people who got offer without spending a fortune so it may as well be a luck and fate thing and they just make excuses. Who knows. Its so confusing!!!

Did she say how often you should come? I just heard of someone told an amount I thought was a lot in a pandemic!

She did not say specifically but I usually go once a month just to say hi and maintain the relationship. Same as many other posters, I would just get what I like and what I will be using and won't buy stuff for the sake of buying.

I was definitely once a month before because I was able to drop by often. Now that my schedule has changed so much and am appointment is needed, once a month feels like a lot. I will see how it goes. I am definitely at the spend for another offer so it would be a shame to “fall off” for not going in enough but such is life.

In general, you should really only buy what you love. I don’t believe in buying things to compromise and hope that you would get a bag. Slow and steady. You have to communicate with your SA and share your honest expectations. I know there are SA who plays games so I would hate for anyone to buy something they don’t love and end up being disappointed. If you don’t get a bag after a period of time and a lot of money spent, at least you know you still got some amazing things.

I’m sorry for the lack of romance here but I lost my patience with buying what I love. I buy what I love because I love all things Hermès, but when I want a B or K (specially in a specific combo) I just say I’m looking for a nice piece of jewelry/watch and a bag to match :giggle:
Sometimes I leave it reserved waiting for the bag, some others the bag shows up magically. It’s impressive how much stock they do have.
Besides, if you look at the resale market, the price of a B25, for instance, is equivalent to the B + nice jewelry at the store :coolio:

So true! :)

So would that be an expectation of 4-6k of jewelry?
It depends on the store and COVID times may make things easier. My experience is varied. I’ve bought bags successfully with this strategy with jewelry from 1k earrings + scarfs to 5k bracelets. Some stores are not allowed to sell jewelry and bags together, but I’ve also heard that with COVID this policy has changed. In any case, I’ve bought jewelry and bags in a week difference between them and it also worked super fine. Gold watches are also a wonderful tip.

Question that if my SA told me that she hopes and should have a bag for me by year end, should I hold off on spending as it won’t be count towards next bag until I get my offer? It’ll be my first offer so I’m trying to wait as patiently as possible, it’s so hard!
I wouldn’t completely stop with your spend, maybe just smaller ticket items so you can still have contact and personal interaction with your SA. You don’t want to be forgotten right at the finish line and I feel like the first offer can be your biggest hurdle as you are trying to firmly establish a relationship.

Best of luck!
