Spend threshold for B/K/C

Hello! Yes, I think the spend is also different depending on size and color. If you were open to taking a bright yellow C24, you could probably get one without any pre-spend. If you want a C18 Gold GHW then you probably need significant pre-spend, maybe not 1:1, but still a long-term customer.

Also, does anyone have any guidance on non-leather spend? I am in the US and even though the Constance is a non-quota bag, does the Constance go towards your B/K pre-spend? I've seen a few people ask on these threads but re-surfacing in case people have a clearer answer!

The problem with this question is that to answer it assumes that the US works on a strict prespending ratio (like some Asian stores do) but it does not. Yes, buying a Constance will help your profile as it gives commission to your SA. It will however help at the least extent possible for the money spent (ie the same amount spent on literally anything else would be better for your profile). Buying a C will also likely delay other bag offers for at least a little while during these low stock times as stores tend to want to satisfy as many clients as possible rather than give everything to one person. If I was strictly calculating my spend to try to gauge when I could expect a bag offer, I would recommend not including and cost of other bags purchased, especially a Constance.

Thanks so much for sharing. Is this the same case with other leather bags (Lindy, GP, etc?) that it delays other bag offers? Or you think Constances are kind of a special case?

recently, i was offered a C18 which i took and shortly after (within a few weeks), i was offered a birkin in the specs I asked for as well. I bought both of them. If you think getting a constance could delay in getting you another bag offer, I would just ask your SA before accepting. SAs are usually very transparent about this. anytime you're not sure, just ask! :)

Be patient. Stick your SA and ask them about stock or that you were hoping to get a QB this year and if that would be possible. Not sure what categories you are spending and SA’s sometimes will guide you and be transparent with you on your spending as well as categories they may think it conks help your profile. Ultimately they have to obtain approval from SM and if your spending isn’t healthy it can be a factor.

Started my journey 10 months ago, wishlist is a B30 in neutrals w/ any HW. I'm at 1:1 now, but still no offers, should I switch? Noncompetitive city.

not sure how well you know that person that got a QB after 5k of houseware spending? Perhaps they are a long term client that’s already spent $100k+ at Hermes, perhaps they have had previous purchases in RTW, fine jewelry and other desirable categories. 5k in houseware is valued more than silks, belts, leather goods, shoes etc. 5k is not apples to apples when SM are looking to approve a bag offer.

In my experience, post pandemic, long term clients are spending 20k+ to obtain highly sought out bags/colors. It is the new norm. Inventory is low, people aren’t traveling, and so everyone is spending a lot of $$ to get an offer. Why would H not maximize this scenario? Why give a highly sought out bag that they have low supply of, for only a $10k spend when others have been spending 20k? I think the 1:1 spending days are gone for now.

Of course exceptions to the rule but those are rare and far between not the norm anymore.

I asked, she said they don't have stock, but I know somebody at the same store just got offered a QB in a coveted color at 0.7:1

Switch SAs, if I switch stores I would have to go remote, which is not ideal.

My home store is tiny, you can literally browse through the entire store in <10min, not in cali or NYC.

I buy what I like or will use (i.e. if I want a new belt, I get it at H instead of some other brand), and I feel like I have a good rapport with my SA, but I also want a working relationship that is productive. I want to work with her long term, but I need to see that she is able to procure wishlist items after a certain amount of time and shopping has occurred.

XD true. My city is noncompetitive in the sense that the concentration of movie stars and old money is not as high as NYC or cali, and is not a hub for asians.

Spend breakdown is 10% equestrian, 30% belts, 30% stoles/mufflers, 30% silks.

I gave my wishlist during my first visit. When I hit 0.6/0.7 my SA bought it up first and said she was gonna try to get me a bag before the end of the year, I hadn't mentioned it before that. After a couple of months passed I asked how that was going, and she said soon, probably in the next month...then nothing. She told me they just have no stock, which being such a small store and at holiday time, I was disappointed but can understand. Now I'm at 1:1...and the answer is some time this year.

No I'm not at Madison, if I was in NYC I would totally understand that 1:1 is not likely, but somebody at my store just got an offer in a coveted color with 0.7:1 (5k in homeware).

I know that your advice is sound and well intended for sure, but the thought of having a conversation with an SA about which categories might help my prespend toward my holy grail bag.... I just can't stomach having a conversation like that; shopping needs to feel organic to me and not pushed to some formulaic transaction. I hope clients just buy what they love and eventually, when the time is right, the offer is approved. :)

It was to @lala_retro specific post where she has spent 1:1 and looking to switch SA/stores. Prior to switching SA/stores and if you aren’t willing to spend more or be more patient with your time, and continue to buy what you love, my advice was to have a conversation with your SA before jumping ship. Many people are just trying to buy whatever so they can get there 1 QB and move on. People that love the journey and the brand buy what they love, are very Patient with the attitude of the “bag comes when it comes.” But everyone doesn’t have the same end goal, journey, desires.

Agreed. But
