Spend threshold for B/K/C

Just wanted to corroborate some known but interesting personal experience. I'm approaching 3 years of being a steady, low-maintenance client with one store, one SA. In these almost 3 years, I've been able to get some pretty good offers culminating in 6 bags now (prespends for each bag: 1:1, 2:1, 2.5:1, 2:1, 2:1, and 1:1 with the last bag being a mini kelly offer). Prior to my last 2 bags, however, I feel like I've never really been able to dictate the specs. It was always the standard "it'll be difficult for that but I will try" and would be offered something and I would accept if I liked it. Luckily they have all been pretty good (sizes 25 or smaller except my first bag in neutral colors), but just short of the top of my wishlist. Admittedly I've always asked for the most desirable specs. However, it seems that the magic number seems to be 3 years (at least for me)...all of a sudden it feels like there are no more pretenses and my "pre-spend" doesn't count anymore. I'm getting offers for being a "loyal" client and they're bags that I previously thought I would have to fight so hard for or wait a really long to for it to come in. They're now just appearing. So yea, be a loyal client for at least 3 years and great offers come more easily. And also, that means there is ALWAYS stock in the back, even the hard to come by sizes/colors, no matter what they say....until you become an established client.

Hi! Congrats on receiving your SO and Kelly in box leather! Would you be willing to share your prespend for each?
Hi! I don't know what my exact pre-spend is. And I'm not saying it in a "I'm too cool to count pre-spend" type of way

My husband and I have two accounts with the same SA. We usually shop together, but sometimes we put things on my account and sometimes on his. The SO was on my account, and the K25 was on his account, so I don't know exactly what the pre-spend is on each account. I would imagine our SA cares more about the joint relationship, but surely the store manager evaluates each individual account?

Also, how do I count pre-spend for the SO? Was it when I made the SO? Was it when I received the SO? I did get another QB in between as well.

I'm starting to see why people say they don't count pre-spend. The offers are so intertwined that it's hard to count even if you want to. :sweatdrop:

Also did you receive a Kelly elan?
Not yet! It was on my wishlist (along with a Box K25 and a B30 in any dark neutral color), so I was surprised that the seemingly "harder" request (the Box K25) showed up first.

Edit to add that I don't know if a Box K25 is a "hard" request. It is a lot more expensive than an Epsom K25, so I'd imagine that there's less competition for it. I just meant "harder" as in it's the most specific request on my list.

Wow, I didn’t know 2 accounts are still allowed, let alone at the same store. Maybe I should enlist DH. He once bought me a gift and was helped by the SM but knowing him I’m sure he didn’t start an account

How long was it between when you were offered to make the SO and the next QB?

I assume if you are a high spending client, 2 or more accounts are given to allow for more QBs per year.

From my understanding, they look at your and husband’s account collectively to make offers. my partner and I have 2 accounts as well, and that’s how it was communicated to me. They do this to prevent people from gaming the system and get more than 2QBs a year.

ETA: I was told exceptions could be made if I spent $200K/year lmao

I submitted the SO in November, bought a MKII in April, and received my SO in August

I spend far less than $200k/year. I'm certainly not a "high-spending client" But yes, this year I did exceed the QB limit (I've bought 3 so far, including the SO).

My store did allow 2 QBs per account a few years ago when we created our separate accounts. I was told last year that the rule changed to 2 QBs per household, but exceptions will be made for us since we've had separate accounts for a few years now.

I also want to note that I don't typically exceed the 2 QB limit. Last year, I got 1 across both accounts, and I didn't complain or demand anything. I think it helps that they know I won't milk the exceptions they made for me

In an attempt to stay on topic, it must be people who are killing two birds with one stone - decorating their offices while boosting their prespend ;)
I saw a young man and his girlfriend come in to my store. He was buying everything in sight and he bought the chess set in front of me , they did not seem like regulars. I always wondered if he brokered a prespend to get a bag

I like to think of Hermes products as falling into one of two categories: Am I doing the SA a favor by buying this or is the SA doing a me a favor by selling it to me? Exotic non-quota bags definitely fall into the category of the client doing an SA the favor. Exotic non-quota bags are difficult to sell (higher price point, hard to resell, don't hold their value, delicate) and SAs get commission on them, which is typically a decent pay day as they are so expensive.
Would you say exotic NQBs or even exotic SLGs such as the Bearn wallet or belts are somewhat “prerequisites” to getting offered an exotic QB?

Nope. Not for me. At FSH, at my last appt in Feb 2024, the SA (who substituted for my reg one) offered two bags: a dark green lizard touch B25, ghw, and a black box plume 32, phw. I rejected both (I rarely wear ghw and I have a K25 in bleu orage that seems similar, and the plume 32 was too large). While I do have a regular SA (or did since my first one didn’t come back after maternity leave and my second was promoted — so who knows what will come next), I’m not a big spender at FSH. DH secured me our first appt post covid, and he obtained the SAs card through charm and luck. I’ve never gone through lottery.

ETA: my home store offered me ostrich 30B QBs (I refused) long before I accepted a 25B selllier gold epsom, phw, but I think that they simply had them in the back. But, both stores know that I am unlikely to spend for H exotics.

Agree with @880. I have never purchased exotic SLGs or belts and have been offered and purchased several exotic QBs in the U.S. I have purchased ostrich NQB’s, but this was after I got exotic QBs.

If you are ok with an exotic B30, I don’t think it’s very difficult to get offered, from personal experience. (I passed because I didnt want croc B30. and I already had one that I got for a good deal from auction.) What did your SA say when you asked?

@880 that green Birkin lizard touch was GORGE!!! I remember your post!
