Spend threshold for B/K/C

It really depends on the store, your relationship and how picky you are on specs. If you’re waiting for one exact spec, it could take years as the SA can’t magically make a specific bag appear. In some stores 2:1 still isn’t enough for a size 25 bag either. Probably best to ask you SA for status and see how they respond. If they are really waffling, you probably need to spend a bit more to be competitive.
I’d say I’d have an open list: b30 k25 k28, not limited to one size/ colour/ hardware.

my sa has mentioned over the past 2ish months while I’m at cash that she will call me if my qb will arrive so I don’t tend to pry. She has called me to notify me that various items on my wishlist.

Like many in this forum, patience is not one of my strong traits lol

Thank you all! I will follow the advice shared here and stay the course because I’m truly not in a rush. (Admittedly the Madison experience albeit with NQB was exhilarating!)
You’ve made a good decision. I’m only one data point but I also had to choose between Madison and my home store at one point and very happy to have chosen my home store. On the first visit with my SA, I was offered an exotic and haven’t been disappointed with the offers since. So I think exotic lovers are unique among an SA’s client base. With that, comes the expectation that you are able and willing to shop in different metiers on items that stand out.

I totally understand the rush of shopping at Madison though, it’s an H wonderland!

Thank you! I should have added orange as a color I don't want but I don't think it is a common color at my boutique so I should be okay ;)
Are you sure you’d take any color besides orange, etoupe and black? How about dark purples, bright greens, bright reds? I’d be even more specific about colors for a K28 retourne. That’s a lot of leather surface area and could be overwhelming if you don’t like bright or very deep colors.

I have to ask - are you in the US? I’m just fascinated by SAs who talk about pre spend like this in the US. My SA, and no one I’ve ever heard while eavesdropping in my store, has ever mentioned spend.
How is this talking about prespend? My SA also tends to say the throw away line of "I'll call you if a bag we discussed comes in" when we are at the cash register wrapping up.

I thought she meant she was at the right amount of cash spend. “I’m at cash” is not a standard phrase - at least I’ve never heard anyone say that. I didn’t realize she meant “at the cash register”.

How long after hitting a 2:1 spend would you say is reasonable to wait for a qb (not mk)? I like to think I have a pretty good relationship with my SA and my SA says she will call me when it arrives. I’ve been working with my sa for almost a year a now TIA

Edit - do the SAs keep track of which of their clients are in “queue” for a qb or is this magic formula determined by SM
I am in the US, in a small store.

My SA said he tries to keep a mental list of which of his clients is "up next" for a bag and uses that as how he prioritizes reaching out about a B/K offer if a bag meets the specs you want. He hasn't specified how he prioritizes that list, but I imagine its some combination of when you last purchased a B/K and spend. He also has asked me if I am interested in a particular bag just because I am at the store and said bag has not been allocated to someone.

I agree with @loopymoi above. I think it’s both that they keep track and that they are confined to what the SM allows them to offer (which may have more to do with other metrics than your spend, like who else is on their list and whether they have sold enough in other metiers). My former SA was promoted (not leather) and transitioned me to his colleague who I already knew. In 2023, I rejected two size 25 QBs at roughly 5X spend between accepted bag offers. So this year, he commented to me and the new SA that I was top of mind bc I didn’t get a bag last year. The new SA offered me a mk II after about 1.5 spend with her. I don’t think the 1.5 spend had much to do with it. Both SAs know I’m primarily a RTW client. I will buy RTW so long as I love the collection. It’s more that they know I won’t disappear after i get a bag.

I would probably say I am similar, but with lower spend than @880. I am not a "visit the store every month" customer, but shop consistently with each season's RTW and silks with other things mixed in here and there. I know my SA has said they really try to feel out customers who would stop shopping the minute they get their "dream bag(s)"

Might be OT but so curious how they attempt to do this.

I generally dislike things everyone has (Chypres, Avalon pattern, even MK and all the popular NQBs) so I’d say my items are relatively unique (65% of my purchases had to be transferred in…). But I’ve seen someone purchase a chess board and I immediately thought that person must have read those birkin baits articles advising you to buy things that are particularly hard to move lol. So how does the SA distinguish H lovers with a different taste from “birkin baiters”?

I'll be the voice of dissent here and say they really dont care. Usually the first bag is the hardest and this is why. They want to make sure that if you're one and done, they get the most out of you before you reach your goal. Sure, they want long term steady spending clients too, but there is room for everyone. That being said, if an SA is familiar with a client via years of working together, they are more likely to let a bag go with lower spend because they know that they'll make it up on the other side. I'd even go as far to say that I think most SAs would prefer someone who is around for 6 months, spends $100k during that time, gets a B25 and is never heard from again vs a ten year client who spends $4k a year and wants a quota bag every six months.
