Thanks for this! What do you think is the spend level to be invited to the RTW event?
LOL if it's just to the in-store events, I don't think there is... he invited us after the first visit and I think I purchased 1 top. I've also been invited to in-store RTW events right off the bat. Literally me : "Oh I'm just browsing for some RTW." SA I met for the first time: "We have a trunk show in a couple weeks, would you be interested in coming?"

If you're referring to the off site special event that just happened, I have no idea, but I posted in another thread that my name was nominated and had to be approved by corporate. I'm sure they look at spend in RTW to gauge overall interest, but I don't know if there is a number criteria. Of course there are the high spending RTW clients, but could there be someone who just started shopping RTW and who the SA thinks has potential? (and approved by corporate) Sure, I can see that happening... that was kind of the point of my bag post because it does seem like there is some level of flexibility with these things.

it wasn't really the current spend with him... it was my overall "profile" as a potential client
Agree with this 100%. But, I think those who get coveted offers in less than a year, with minimal spend (under 2X) are rare these days.

If non bag items are offered that you love, I recommend buying them. Because they may not be available later. If you don’t love anything, of course, then don’t buy.

My spend was easily 5X by the time the first bag I decided to accept came in (but my SA was looking for possibilities that I would like beforehand). I don’t have a wishlist, but my SA knew what I already own and my taste. I’ve rejected more bags than I have accepted.

DH and I both love H RTW, so I probably maintain at least 5X per accepted bag offer. But, we would spend that irrespective of s bag offer. if we don’t like s particular collection, we of course don’t buy anything. Not sure that this can be put on a prespend buying schedule.

If you exhibit a serious interest in RTW, then your SA will ask you if you are available for some events. In addition to the runway show and afterparty, there are smaller, more personalized events (like trunk show equivalents) and opportunities to shop privately when the store is closed. For the smaller events, various SAs have rold
Me the intent is to invite different people to different things  So, if someone isn’t invited to one, she may be invited to another.

Yes, agree, especially in today's current environment.

Also, for those with an extensive collection like @880 , the bar for what is accepted is much higher than someone like me who is still building my collection lol.
Very funny. I’m convinced you have a lot more; yours are just spread out over various rooms or homes

I was very unhappy with my experience at my prior store so was looking for another local home store... I wanted to try out a few different stores in my area to see if there was anyone who I clicked with. Met an SA at the first store we went to, liked him, explained my situation, and bought a couple of things. He invited us to a RTW event, which was our second visit, and offered a B25 noir ostrich with RGHW with $3000 spend with him. The math works out to 0.13:1.

So to @nikotama 's point, it wasn't really the current spend with him... it was my overall "profile" as a potential client. He saw my previous spend, wanted us as clients, we clicked, AND probably the most important part, was the floor manager, with whom he had a very good relationship with, approved the bag on the spot. My first "stockroom surprise" from him LOL.

We were actually reminiscing about that first bag and our initial experience yesterday. He said he was talking about us with the floor manager (who is now store director) at the runway event and how he went to her that day and asked to sell us that bag because we had "potential" and she said "ok, go ahead!" and he said "And look where we are today!" lol...
He also said "I saw you come in in that top...remember that top you had?" because I was wearing a runway blouse I had just gotten from Paris. So for him, it was a business decision. And he said as much. While walking us out after that first bag he said, "I hope we can continue our relationship... and let me know if I can get anything else for you."

That first bag was a hook... it was "hey look what we can do for you." It's definitely paid off for them LOL. We have been good clients. But he has been very good to us too.

Of course need to add the obligatory YMMV, everyone's experience is different, the only rule with Hermes is there is no rule, and a lot comes down to luck.
Thank you for sharing!! I feel like my experience was also a bit of a “hook” with my new SA and store. They could tell I have potential as a client so the SM approved the QB offer. I definitely think that this type of client potential in addition to some kind of profile and prespend is a part of the overall “Hermes equation”.

I agree client potential is a factor.

I’d like to think there is a trifecta of considerations

- spend
- longevity with boutique/brand
- high value client potential

In my view/observations, as long as you have 2 of 3, you’ll be in their good graces with offers, private event invites, etc.

There are those VIP/high value clients who have been with the house for a long time, and may get wonderful offers even during a year of minimal or zero spend.

Then there are those with high spend and are deemed high value potential, but may have only started shopping at H for 1-2 years. Those individuals also receive coveted offers, even blue boxes, and can receive their offers quickly despite not having been a long established client.

Finally you have those who spend a healthy amount consistently over the years and have shown loyalty to the house/boutique. They may not have budget for exotics and may not be spending 6 figures a year, but they are consistent and loyal. They are rewarded too.

Yes there are a million other factors about boutique specific stock, relationship, etc. but in my view those elements only support a “point in time” reward whereas I believe the above profiles are consistently rewarded/valued.

Hi,
I have a b35 and b30 from Paris. One time through the line system and one time with the lottery. Reading about how hard it is to get a birkin or even an appointment in Paris now, I'm wondering if I should shift my focus to a US boutique. I live in a high income area though and I don't like being strung along. I don't want to spend enormous amounts though I do like Hermes and have a wishlist of a few shoes and other items from there. Where in the US can I spend the least and get a quota bag? How do long distance SA relationships work? Thank you. Would appreciate any help here.
