I have the 25 in DE and wear it all the time....I think it is perfect bag for 2023.

I'm thinking of getting DE, but I love the look of vintage mono! How are you deciding on the print? Maybe your thought process will help me decide tooI was just about to buy one in about a month. I think the silhouette is gorgeous and will never go out of style. Also, thinking about LVs runway show with the ENORMOUS bags, I think in the next year this micro bag trend will be out. Im getting the 30b in mayyyyybe mono. I just love that classic vintage look of the speedy in mono but I don’t love how flashy the mono can come across. I already have the neonoe in mono. (Also if someone can give me feedback on the canvas print or direct me to a thread where I can find it)
Would you mind sharing what quality issues have you seen in new Speedys? I think a couple of us are planning to purchase new and it would be super helpful to know what to watch out for. Thank you! Most of my collection is Speedy’s. I still love them, they are classic. I don’t see a lot out there right now but they will always be in style IMO. Also, I recently had to get a new speedy 25 b in DE replaced. Long story, but let me tell you I looked at 4 and they’re all garbage. The quality is completely crap now on their Speedy’s!! Keep your old one. The new ones do not have the same quality.
Sure! My initial bag went in for repair and they replaced the piping because it was peeling. The repair shrunk my bag at least an inch and made it a square shape. Then they offered me a new one. First replacement one had a lot of wrinkles on one handle and not the other. Second one you can see the red lining through the stitching on the side. Third one had bad creases on the side leather part. This will happen over time with use but should not be there before using the bag.Would you mind sharing what quality issues have you seen in new Speedys? I think you must be very very rough to rub Damier off. When my NF and Speedy looked a bit faded, it actually was dirt (from jeans back the) and after good wipe it looked as new and I used both very very much as work bags.I'm thinking of getting DE, but I love the look of vintage mono! Sharing my thoughts on pros of each print, some are very subjective to me though.
DE pros: all weather, carefree, less logo-ish, more work appropriate.
Mono pros: more stylish looking when vintage, supposedly better wear over time (DE leather might crack and DE canvas print rubs off), supposedly softer and more comfortable strap when the bag is heavy.
I have had dozens of speedys in all sizes (except 40) and all prints, there is no such thing as one print is more prone to crack or worn off, neither strap will be comfortable if the bag is heavy. All these crack worn off were caused by heavy or/ and incorrectly use / storage.I'm thinking of getting DE, but I love the look of vintage mono! How are you deciding on the print? You will get corner wear on any of the speedy bags over time, but I think what they mean is that the red lining is a bright color and shows through on the DE more quickly. I have seen that a lot on pre-loved bags. My 30B is DA and I can see some rubbing on the corners but it's not obvious because of the neutral lining.I have had dozens of speedys in all sizes (except 40) and all prints, there is no such thing as one print is more prone to crack or worn off, neither strap will be comfortable if the bag is heavy. I currently has a speedy b 30 ebene using from beginning of 2018, to this day, absolutely no corner wear, I had took it to out of state trip too, also has a speedy b 25 ebene been Using since 2020, and took it to my latest out of state trip too, still brand new not even faint of corner wear, have 25 b mono and 30 b mono as my grocery shopping and mall shopping bags, no corner wear excepet few water marks and patina, when I say absolutely no corner wear, that means not even a faint of rubbing either on canvas or piping. You will get corner wear on any of the speedy bags over time, but I think what they mean is that the red lining is a bright color and shows through on the DE more quickly. I don’t know about corner wear but my speedy from 2007 had to eventually have the piping replaced. That’s my oldest speedy. It was not from misuse or poor storage. 2018 and 2020 bags are relatively new to me. The beauty of lv is that in many cases, old bags can be repaired. I did have an illovo mm from 2007 with pointed bottom corners that could not be repaired. But from that I learned to avoid canvas with pointed corners.I currently has a speedy b 30 ebene using from beginning of 2018, to this day, absolutely no corner wear, I had took it to out of state trip too, also has a speedy b 25 ebene been Using since 2020, and took it to my latest out of state trip too, still brand new not even faint of corner wear, have 25 b mono and 30 b mono as my grocery shopping and mall shopping bags, no corner wear excepet few water marks and patina, when I say absolutely no corner wear, that means not even a faint of rubbing either on canvas or piping.
as I had said before, the wear on bags mostly caused by using without care or/and improper storage
Agree. My heavily used Speedy B 30 from 2015 also has no corner use. And I put it everywhere. Even the mon monogram print is fine. Not a bit of rub off. I remember being super afraid of rubbing since I see a lot of really bad rubbed screenprint in second hand bags. But those must have been really badly abused… And after knowing what mine has been enduring, I know I don’t have to be afraid of using them.I currently has a speedy b 30 ebene using from beginning of 2018, to this day, absolutely no corner wear, I had took it to out of state trip too, also has a speedy b 25 ebene been Using since 2020, and took it to my latest out of state trip too, still brand new not even faint of corner wear, have 25 b mono and 30 b mono as my grocery shopping and mall shopping bags, no corner wear excepet few water marks and patina, when I say absolutely no corner wear, that means not even a faint of rubbing either on canvas or piping.
