A Hermès scarf in aid of the palace of Versailles

The sale by advance order of the “Promenade à Versailles” Hermès scarf will help to fund the restoration of the palace apartments.

The “Promenade à Versailles” silk scarf is the culmination of a partnership between two prestigious institutions that both embody French savoir-faire and excellence. The scarf’s design, inspired by the canals that give structure to the palace gardens, consists of a network of vignettes that pay tribute to the most famous sights of Versailles. They meander from the King’s chamber to the Hall of Mirrors, not forgetting the woodland copses and the grand perspective created by André Le Nôtre.

The scarf’s designer Pierre Marie favoured the clarity and simplicity of line drawings to better reflect the classicism of 17th-century France. “That two emblematically French institutions supporting the same values should come together seemed self-evident to me,” says Catherine Pégard, president of the Public Establishment of the Palace, Museum and National Estate of Versailles. “Today, Hermès and Versailles are jointly reaffirming their determination to support heritage through creation.”

The “Promenade à Versailles” scarf will be available in exclusive preview by advance order from 1st May to 31st July 2015, the price is 335 euro.

Oh my goodness, I want this scarf! It is so beautiful

I almost forgot that I had ordered this special scarf in November. I was reminded of my purchase because of last Friday's centennial of the Armenian genocide.
Lettres d'Erevan.

Thanks so much scarfmischief1! I just received Lettres d'Erevan, the fundraiser for Armenia. I'll be ordering this one as well.

Lettres d'Erevan.

This is gorgeous scarf and an exquisite way to honour Armenian culture and history.

I believe people are saying in the Fall 2015 scarf thread and this pattern will be made into a GM cashmere shawl. I hope its true because I love this design.

Does anyone know how to order this? There isn't contact info on the webpage. When I made an enquiry on the site's general information webform (in English) asking about how to order this particular piece I received a canned response telling me that they, "have many shoppes along the Promenade."

Looking at the French site, I would suggest you need to contact the boutique.

I'm guessing that instead of from Hermes, it would have to be ordered directly from the organization doing the fundraising, like the Armenian scarf was.
There'll probably be directions beginning May 1, when the scarf can be ordered.
I'll check the site on Friday.

Something interesting about the process for ordering the Armenian scarf. At first, you had to fill out a form and not only purchase the scarf, but make a donation by wiring all the money. I thought that was ridiculous, so I didn't bother ordering. Then the requirements changed. In December, they put up a direct link so that the scarf could be ordered through PayPal. I didn't have to worry about a fluctuating exchange rate, and no extra donation had to be made.

I asked about the Versailles scarf at the Hermes FSH boutique. They told me to check out the Versailles website on May 1st to order and that they wouldn't be sold/ordered through the boutique but through Versailles. Then she said something about December? But I couldn't really catch that piece.

I think I may get it to commemorate my visit in Paris!

Thanks for the information, nakedm. Was just about to call FSH!

The Versailles web boutique (sorry on reading my previous post it was ambiguous) will have the ordering process and the scarf will be delivered in December.
