The H slippery slope has been extra slippery as of late and I needed to slow down. I was completely at peace until I get a call from my SA about the Hermes Men’s Event. I knew it was happening, but I hadn’t planned on going. But…there was a BAG so I HAD to go. So yeah, my slow down turned into an acceleration. I was offered the Kelly Messenger(KM) PM in Toundra, which for some reason didn’t excite me as I thought it would. I also tried one in Beton, which was actually worse than the Toundra. It looked unrefined. I was already prepared to let it go and choose a QB instead until I was shown the KM PM in Fauve Barenia. When my SA opened the box, it sang to me and I immediately smelled it. I would have wanted a black but this was probably better. So now i’m crossing this off my 2024 Wishlist. Now it’s time to really slow down.

Need some advice. I am looking to get a new belt and considering H.
I am not a fan of the belt kit but tried the Andy 26 which I absolutely loved. My only hesitation is that it is swift leather and not sure how suitable swift is for a belt and how it will wear over time? Anyone with experience with swift belts?

I have belts in Swift and Box leather, and while they are not as durable as Togo or Epsom leather--I think they wear ok. They are on par with any other non-branded leather belt you would expect. They do wear better than Louis Vuitton/Ralph Lauren/Calvin Klein belts, and on par with Burberry/Versace/MCM/Prada belts.

Due to the natural characteristics of the leather, you are bound to see creasing and scratches more easily.
If that bothers you a lot, you might want to set your expectations accordingly. However if that doesn't bother you, I think they'll be just fine.

FWIW, I think Swift and Box leather look best in black or orange.

Aaaaargh! Thanks for the feedback. ;)

Swift is my favourite leather actually but for a belt, I am a bit unsure. I would love to get the Andy 26 in box but have only seen it in swift and barenia online. Will ask my SA.
I did notice that when I tried it on in swift in store it already showed a small crease. Don’t mind patina but wouldn’t want a 900 euro belt to look “chewed up” after 3 wears.

Haha, yeah--that's what you are going to run into with Swift and Box.
Most of my Hermes belts are Epsom and Togo--but the Box and Swift ones still look almost brand new (as long as you take care of them).

Btw, the Andy 26 belt is a pretty handsome fella, not sure how I feel about a 26mm width though. Are you planning to wear it with chinos or linen pants or something light?

I actually rarely use belts so probably for work with a suit or casual trousers, might for with slim black jeans as well.
I am not that tall so proportions with slim belt works for me. Tried it when I looked at Bs. wearing a thick tucked sweater which is more a winter look.
I also tried the belt kit but wasn’t keen on it.
