If DH wanted a 35, our SA would be on the look out or we could go well priced reseller and get it significantly below retail

It wouldn’t impact us, bc profile is healthy and SA arguably likes DH more than me lol.

But, 35s are more difficult or Longer wait simply bc the store doesn’t order this size much anymore (an SM told me this).
I was shocked to discover a 31bolide was considered a ‘larger’ size these days lol

Not sure this answers your issue, but feel free to Pm

ETA: DH is the official acct holder in any H location (local, FSH, Asia), so we ‘share’ a profile

A B35 from a reseller below retail? I am listening

Oooooh you got the Genius sandals, congratulations! They look gorgeous on you. I tried it in 5 different stores in 3 countries over the last 2 weeks but no luck  Looking forward to more great styles from you with them
Thank you! Good luck with the hunt! Hopefully you get yours soon.

I dare say I think I prefer this style to the Chypre!

I bought a B35, and several B30s and K28s during and after Covid SIP, for about 5-7K USD.* All structurally sound, some with minor cosmetic flaws (sun tanned back panel or darkened handles) easily addressed by third party professional spa. The prices are cyclical, and I already see some softening in the secondary market. It’s a matter of time :)

ETA: fashionphile had a graphite box leather 35K retourne, phw, no issues, nice patina, for 4K USD that I wish I had bought. Bc it was so cool. But, I didn’t even wear such large bags when they were the style. So passed.

Large bag prices are starting to cheap up again. iMHO, I don’t think mini bag mania is going anway anytime soon but people are rediscoverKang the joy and benefits of larger bags and I expect to see those prices move upward. Now. May be a good time to search for that lardpger bag you’ve always wanted if price is important

I have met Max (blog author) at Sothebys- he is super nice and knows his stuff :). I bought my K40 Lakis from him

Hi, first time poster. I was asked if I was interested in a kelly messenger or a large kelly. As I only plan to get one bag in the near future, I would appreciate any advice on which would be a better long-term piece, as a collectible.
There is a consensus that anything you buy with a view to being 'a collectible' should be something you really like.
In this country advertisements for investment products carry a warning that the value can go down as well aa up.
Hermes items are expensive and tend to hold their value amongst enthusiasts in the long-term.
However it tends to be only Birkins and Kellys that can show a shirt-term increase in value, but even that is heavily dependent upon colour and the current trend in size.

The jury has not yet been presented with the evidence to come to a verdict on the Kelly Messenger.

Your best buy will be that which you like best and will be the most useful to you. There is no universal style which will meet all anyone's requirements. So my advice to you, is to work out what the primary purpose is for buying this bag and get the style that most closely matches that requirement.

office day today. Got to use the SAD for the first time after 6 long months at the H Spa. Came back looking amazing. I didn’t recognize it at first sight.

This is not my preferred Hermes briefcase style, but that looks SO desirable in that leather.

Just as there is the dictum for property:
location, location, location

perhaps there should be the same for Hermes bags:
leather, leather, leather

I have a K40 and have seen the PM size kelly messenger in person (it was not for sale - just to show people). I would equate the kelly messenger to a wider, somewhat bigger sac a depeches 25 vs a large Kelly. The K40 is wider, deeper and taller and has the 2 handles and most have a cross body strap or connections for a cross body strap and you can buy one aftermarket (either HMS made or many quality sellers of leather and canvas straps on ETSY) vs the messenger which only comes with the cross body strap. IMHO they have very different uses and I agree with whitebus that it's most important to work out your primary purpose for using the bag and buy that style versus trying to force fit a bag to your style.

I use my K40 as my work bag; it holds my laptop, umbrella, power adapter(s), some personal items, a folder with documents and even a small bottle of water. Even though we are business casual, the K40 just feels a bit more businesslike/"grown up" to me and I like it for work. I love the versatility of having both the handles and the cross body/strap. Plus, on the rare occasion I do have to dress up, I prefer to carry the bag by the handles rather than wearing a suit/tie using a cross-body strap.

That said, I put the kelly messenger on my wish list. I love a good messenger for shopping, going out on weekends, taking to the movies and easily throwing in my car, on the back of a chair at a restaurant, etc. It will hold my ipad but much to small for my 16.5" laptop. So, at least for me, use case really drives my preference. The price is rumored to be a lot (>15K US) and, at that price, it may remain a 'wish' for me even if offered.

If offered both at HMS and could only pick one, for me, I'd pick the larger Kelly (with a strap) for the versatility and the fact that I'd be using it 5 days a week every week and I could use it in both casual and more formal settings. Then, like now, I'd get a nice messenger bag to use for casual times (and in my case I actually bought a preloved Hermes steve in beautiful clemence leather that's soft, slouchy and can take a beating without worry).

Wow - a long winded post to say I basically agree with Whitebus - buy what will work best for you and don't worry about collectability/resale if you are buying to use (vs just as a part of a collection)

Very insightful, thank you. I never considered reseller but given the B40 news I am going to do my research now :D

I like the original Steve - a shame it is discontinued
and I have just seen one as you described and am sorely tempted

p.s. thanks for agreeing

Does anyone have this Kelly depeche briefcase?
Any feedback? Is it possible at all to attach a strap?View attachment 5861738

I’d be interested if you can add a strap too. Have never seen the larger briefcase in person. I am actually planning a visit to the Madison store today and will ask to see one if available
Hey gents!

I have this in Gris Etain. It's awesome, but be aware that it only fits a laptop, notebook, wallet, phone (you could maybe fit one of those tiny umbrellas in too if they're the kind that collapse more flat than round). As you note, the down side is that you can only carry by the handle OR I've found it's great to carry like a pouch (i.e. if you need to free up your second hand to grab your metro card from wallet or pay for your coffee....).

I have actually tried to put an Etsy strap on (attached to the sangles on the side). It doesn't work well, unfortunately. It can look natural on a KD25, but on the KD36, when I tried this it looked terrible. :-/
