Hello,

I'm New here.
Interested in the HAC 40 as a travel bag.
Anyone know if it can be used as a "personal item" on flights and fit under the seat on a plane?

Also does anyone the current retail price in the US for the HAC 40 in both canvas and full leather?

The Sales person at the store said they have never seen one in real life and had no idea the price and refused to even look up the price for me which I thought was very weird/rude since it isn't a "quota" item and doesn't seem to be that popular compared to the birkins / kellys ect. The manager told the SA to tell me to "just google it and figure it out" : /

Does anyone know what materials and colors it comes in? Hard to find information about it online

Thanks so much!
The HAC comes in several different materials. Some are full leather (i.e. Togo), and some are part leather (i.e. Evercolor and Barenia) and part canvas/fabric. It comes in several different colours, including classics like black, Etoupe, and Gold.

Hi, the prices for HAC canvas and all leather are the same, with an exception of heritage leather such as barenia, box, or barenia faubourg. These three leathers are a few of the most expensive leather at Hermes (and rare). HAC 40 is pretty big and it has no inner pockets. It’s good for a travel bag though. I suppose you can store the bag under the seat (sideways), but it might ruin it. So I advise that you don’t do that Hope that helps!

I don’t know if this will help, but here’s a side by side comparison of me carrying the B40 and B35. Just to give you an idea of how the proportions work…

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this.

First of all, I think the 35 already works great on you. Proportions already look different then how it looks on my pic and also felt for me when I tried it.

BUT I like the 40 for you even more.

So I guess I really like the bigger bag look, which makes it so frustrating that there won’t be any B40 anymore :crybaby:

Totally forgot to tell you about something RTW related: I had a chance to talk to the person, responsible for the orders in my boutique. They shared some info on what they ordered for SS24. We both love the double belt apparently. I learned that this is indeed a single peace, rather then simply 2 belts. Price will be quite high with > 2000€.

I'm probably in the Minority here BUT I feel the 35 looks too small on you.
I would either look for a pre-owned 40Birkin or a 40 HAC which is taller and looks less 'boxy'.
good luck whatever you decide I know you'll wear it beautifully
I'm joining the maxroxx club here as I think the 35 looks small on you (esp for your height).
I have both a B35 and B40 and they are just different use cases - though for me at 5'7 the B35 is the better 'daily' bag, and I use the B40 for travel.

Wow, when was this announced? Do you know the effective date?
Not sure you got good info here. For example, last year I was told by others that the K40 was discontinued, and I got a K40 at FSH on first ask. Earlier this year on a visit to Paris, I asked for a B40 and got one also on first ask. It's more likely that your store manager doesn't have plans to order any B40s (which would be effectively the same result for you, but the facts may have been twisted a bit.... :-P)

I have an HAC 40 and it is NOT conducive to storing under a seat. The top part can slide in, but the bottom part will stick out quite a bit on most plane seats. I only ever bring it on international business class flights, and store it in its dust bag and up in the bin next to my roller carry-on.

Curious for advice after reading the b35 discussion: for those here who are married or have a female SO - how are you balancing the quota bag rationing in your household? I’d love to at least shoot for a b35, but also wouldn’t want to “waste” a QB offer on this if we can get harder-to-get women’s sizes like b25 or b30. Would love to hear how others do this!
