I think this is a great idea! I don't have the 39 com, but I got a herbag on a whim (one that isn't really that office appropriate because of the design..) just recently and it is extremely practical and sturdy. Much more useful than the depeche / kelly closure style bags, as you can carry it open and there's a zipped pocked on the back of it too. I have several bags with a flip-over closure/ kelly closure because I love the look, but they are so impractical to get things in and out of, I usually end up carrying my stuff in an open tote or a bag with a zipper top opening more or less every day.

The construction of the herbag is really simple, but the design is genius. I didn't appreciate it until I got it.

Just received a Hermès AirTag bag charm which I plan to use with my sac a depeches 21 but there’s one problem: the bag has no handles and the only options for the charms (including the clochette with key) are to store it inside the bag or to tie it around the hardware loops attached to the crossbody strap. My inclination is to store inside but I am wondering if the AirTag could alter the composition of the leather. Thoughts from the science-inclined are especially welcome!

I would go with your gut feeling of which one you prefer in person because the choice is quite a personal aesthetic one. (Albeit many do appreciate both versions)

but I don’t see the need for an AirTag in anything but luggage ( strapped to the outside) JMO

Thank you for your comment! You are correct in that there are openings under the flap. Regarding AirTags, I have them inside my aluminum luggage and they traveled by air throughout Europe. I am now concerned about them exploding! I tried looking for incidences of AirTag explosions on the web but couldn’t find any. Nomad even makes AirTag holders in the shape of a credit card and I have one in my wallet. Then, no iPhone in your Hermès bags because they could also explode?

No problem at all. Thank you for clarifying (and for the humor!). I will not be removing my AirTags from my luggage and will proudly take out my Hermès AirTag charm out of the bag to show off. I had reservations about the extravagant price but it is a beautiful and brilliantly crafted piece!
