I wouldn't say it is easy to get a B at any store...it happens for some people, many others have no luck time after time.

There is a thread in the H Shopping Section about buying one's first B - lots of good info there.

I recently moved to SoCal and SCP is my home store - I've found SAs more friendly at SCP than BH. So far I bought handful of small leather accessories at SCP - dogon and men's wallets - and i was told (after some blunt questions) that i need to make purchases in rtw, shoes and jewelry etc and i could be offered a birkin in a year. Im keeping my fingers crossed. Its easier in paris FSH!

I'm wondering the same thing about the bh store. I have spent more than the cost of a birkin and still have not been offered one! It's so frustrating. Every time I ask my SA she says she will talk to the manger but it never amounts to anything. I have purchased leather goods, twillys, a shawl and a bunch of homegoods. I guess I just need to keep on spending!

perhaps it's time to use a reseller lol. if you're spending more than the cost of a B, that will be you your pick of most anything you want.

Really? For me, $10k spending doesn't necessarily guarantee a b or k:(((( perhaps it also depends on location and relationship with the SA/store. Unfortunately many including me are not the lucky chosen ones:(((( I am a regular client and will continue shopping at the same store but I do understand the benefit of going through the reseller route now because I spend more than the premium paid to reseller to get a b or k!!!

i'm saying with the 10k you already spent + retail of birkin/kelly will get you the pick of pretty much any non exotic bag you want via a reseller. as opposed to spending that much for whatever bag they choose to offer you.

Ahhh, yes I agree. One can get a very very nice brand new b or k by paying $20k to a reseller. It is the truth:)

Hmm... I have to say the BH store was the only boutique where I received less than stellar service to put it mildly. May I ask if this is your home boutique? You will have better luck if you are a resident living nearby and are willing to work to establish on ongoing relationship with one of the more accommodating SA's. The SA who approached me basically refused to serve me in any way once she learned that I no longer reside in LA. I hoped to pick up some housewarming gifts and SLG's while there, but she was having none of it. After being told many "mistruths" She quickly informed me (once learning that I was only in town for Fashion and charity event) that I "would be better served in my home boutique." I was not even attempting to purchase highly coveted items like a B or K. Anyway, she is right... I am far better served in my home boutique and nearly every other H boutique I have visited! To be fair, this was just my experience, I am sure others may have had more positive ones and perhaps they can offer you more insight. Good luck!

Unfortunately it is my home store. The SA was not very nice in the beginning but once I started going in more frequently and making purchase she become much nicer. I don't want to go through a reseller. I want to buy from the actual store so that I can build a history there and perhaps have the option to purchase more bags in the future.

SCP & BH are hard to get bags from due to the very wealthy clientele + loads of high profile people. so if you only want one from a store, you will just have to keep spending and eventually be able to buy a bag there. you will probably also have to spend a good bit more for the second bag. there is no set number for any store. RTW/home/fine jewelry can help speed up the process.

Why don't you just go to a reputable reseller ? They are just leading you on but will never offer you one since there are many other customers that will spend even more. Insteading of buying a bunch of things you don't need and still have to wait, I would just go to the reseller. They may list high on the sites but many of them are willing to negotiate and you may end up paying just a smaller markup and get the exact color you want.

SCP is my home store and I actually have a pretty good experience there. But you definitely have to visit pretty frequently and make non-bag purchases (fine jewelry, shoes, housewares, etc.) I can't stress how important it is to build a good relationship with your SA. I'm not a huge spender but probably get offered a B or K every year or an SO (I just posted my latest SO from there on the "What is your last Hermes purchase" thread:

For BH, I found the service was much better several years ago, espeically prior to the big remodel. Since the remodel, I'm not sure if it's the layout but I've not had the greatest service there.
