(SLGs) Small Leather Goods? Have Faves? Do you scrimp or splurge?

I scrimp when it comes to spending $$$ on a brand. As far as wallets go, I have 4 Abas full frame, an Abas checkbook, 1 full zip around Lodis, and 2 Hobo International small card case style (for inside a larger clutch). I bought all these, except 1, from TJ Maxx for about a third of their retail price. For other small goods, I don't use leather as I try to keep the contents of my purse lightweight. So for cosmetics or other small items, I use Vera Bradley and Lesportsac cases. They come in very fun colors/patterns and I like to switch them out, they're easy to keep clean, and they're featherweight.

If variety isn't your thing and you're pretty picky about function, like my Mom, I would spend the amount of money that gets you exactly what you want the FIRST time. My Mom tried several different wallets before finally finding what she wanted for function and it wasn't even a wallet! She keeps her cash/coins in a wristlet and her cards in a credit card file. So it really depends on your priority list.

I splurge! But I don't buy lots of SLGs. Just one set that's really nice.

I have just changed my LV wallet, cles and cosmetic case for the Bottega Veneta contintental wallet, coin/key purse and cosmetic case. They're sooo nice!!

i definetly splurge. i have some LV and Coach SLgs as well as a couple Tory Burch and Furla cosmetic cases and a few other pieces

i have trouble committing to a style of wallet. i love smaller ones and big ones. and i like having a nice wallet- sometimes thats all i carry to g ofor a coffee run etc.

plus i have made a really good return on investment selling ones i tire of on consignment.

I have a few gucci,lv and prada small leather goods... But when I tink back, I felt that sometimes u top up a few hundred, u might be able to get a bag instead , rather more worth it... Now I'm getting sling bag or bags instead of SLG

I just recently discovered the Sammy Handmade in Ethiopia small leather goods (thanks, papertiger!) and the leather on these things is like butter. The pouch I have is actually five compartments in one and is only 7" x 4". I just received mine in a luscious brown with a little mini van embroidered on it (with a rainbow zipper and gorgeous patterned cloth interior yesterday from Barneys - they've got a blue one with an airplane on sale now for only $69 (normally $165).

chessmont, you could use it as a wallet, but I'm using it as a pouch to carry miscellaneous items. Here's photos of how the compartments work inside -

When you unzip it, there are then two open compartments on either side, another zipped compartment down the middle, and two shallow leather areas on either side of that middle zipped compartment.

Here you see how it zippers up...

Scrimp for wallet! Since I'm a very practical person: Practical enough not to change my wallet on a weekly basis but not so practical enough to keep changing my bags to suit the outfits. As for makeup pouch etc.. maybe in the future. Just dont feel the need to get luxury SLG yet (other than wallet)

:D
