Over the years, I've seen LC discontinuing styles and launching new styles very quickly. In a way, it keeps old time fans like me interested in the brand. I never can grasp how long a style can remain. That Foulonne card holder is currently only available in black and no restocks for other colors for quite some time so I'm inclined to think it might be going going gone when black sells out. I still see caramel and navy being offered in other markets though. Since I'm quite particular with SLGs, I think I am going to get it.

The one that I'm unwilling to bypass.
Style: Le Foulonne Card Holder

Dimensions : 13 cm (L) x 9 cm (H)
Made un Mauritius

Interestingly, it comes with two plastic sleeves. We did not know what they are for. I'm trying them out with cash and coins. Let's see if I will annoy myself when I try to pay tomorrow. I'm delighted to see that my SGD$50 note goes all the way into the top slip pocket (after being folded in half). No top part of cash peeking out. My loose redemption vouchers go into the two slip pockets at the side. After loading it up, I really like how compact it is. If you are someone whom does not carry a lot and like a flat wallet, this is fantastic. Compared it with my other foulonne card holder.

As for the plastic sleeves, I know what they are for. My husband has a cardholder that he loves and used every day for 2 years straight in this larger 13 x 9cm format. It’s not Longchamp, but from another French brand (RSVP Paris, great SLGs, you should check them out).

We often call this style the French ID cardholder here, because it fits the old A7 format French national ID card and driving licence. The driving licence is a piece of laminated pink card stock with 2 folds, which would fit in the ‘long’ sleeve that you received. The ID, which is also a laminated card, goes in the other.

And this style may be discontinued because France switched to ID-1 (standard bank card size) format for the national ID and driving licence in 2021. Many people still haven’t made the switch, but they’re no longer issuing A7 format IDs and licences. So it’s a good thing you scooped one up now ;)

Valuable insight. Thank you so much for taking the time to share. I'll share with my SA cos she also does not know what it is for. Maybe going forward, LC will just stop including the plastic sleeves. I hope they do not discontinue this style. The singular card sleeve works great for coin storage so that they don't fall out of the card holder plus the size actually allows me to also slip it into the slip pocket at the side.

After I knew what these sleeves are for, I must say I'm impressed that LC thought of including them for the driving license. That's what I like about LC. I can't say all their products are thoughtfully designed but the majority for me is. Esp those deep pockets in the bags which are actually functional instead of just being there.
