So, I guess my bad luck on finding expensive thrift store bags went away for a little while. I found this little one tossed on the bottom rack at goodwill after weeks of not finding anything. (I was in a different city. Maybe they haven't heard about my previous bag:p) Anyway, it was authenticated. Here is my Hamptons Small Twill tote for $7.

OH yes, this is truly going on in my area. You're not weird for being a thrift store "haunt"...or else if you are, then I too am very high on the weird list LOL. They know me well in my area stores. And its probably MY FAULT that they've upped the prices because I was buying anything and everything vintage Coach, making it obvious that I am an easy target. The large amount of well made fakes though, has slowed down my buying frenzy. And the over priced stuff has added to my stress. I am in such a bargain find withdrawal right now its ridiculous. It doesn't help that Wall Street Journal and other blog sites are hyping the "cool vintage Coach" thrift buying factor -so now it's the "in" thing to do. But it's killing my ebay profits sigh.
This is what I've been experiencing too. Lately I haven't found any true bargains. I feel like there is nothing that I need for a price I'm willing to pay. Cuz I'm still finding stuff but I just don't want to spend $30, $40, $50 on a beat up old bag. (unless its just too fabulous) so I have been letting go of a lot of stuff because of the growing prices. Like you said I think the retailers are definitely catching onto the growing trend.

Thought I would post one other bag I recently got for a pretty decent price. I got this kristin spectator for $120 off ebay. It is in brand new condition too. Love it!
(Note: these are the ebay auction pics)

I posted this in the "Secondhand Bargains" thread, but since there's a "Coach Secondhand Bargains" thread, thought I'd post here as well. Okay, back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, I really wanted a large Coach duffle bag, but couldn't afford it at the time. Well, as the years went by, I lost my immediate desire for one. But, every now and then, when I would see someone carrying one, I would think about how I had really, really wanted that bag. I've actually seen two or three at thrift stores over the years, but none of those were "my bag" for whatever reason. Well, one day last week, it happened. When I initially saw her, I felt a little spark. Once I touched her and put her over my shoulder, it was a match made in thrifters' heaven! When I found some time later that day, I did a bit of computer research, and discovered two things that surprised me. Coach, currently, has a reissue of the duffle ($398.00) on its website (I found mine for $40.00 at a charity thrift store). The other thing I discovered is that my bag is vintage: has the xxx-xxxx serial code and was made in NYC (I really like that it was made in NYC!) It's in near mint condition, with no pen marks or stains. I've carried her over the past three days, and now I really understand why this bag was once so popular. Anyone have any additional information about this bag, I'd really appreciate your sharing!
I love the bag! I got my Duffle Sac back in the late '70s for a $66 retail. The booklet inside the pocket suggested cleaning the bag with Ivory soap while submerging it in water!

OMG, I love your nails! Your bag has a lot of potential, but I could admire your nails all night.

Thanks, so much. I've been carrying her for the past couple of days. Wow, I didn't know that Coach, at one point, recommended bathing bags! I recently found a vintage stewardess bag which I might bathe. I've never done so before.

That's a great bag, I can't wait to see how it turns out! And you do a great job on your nails! They look awesome!

I would give it a try! Although, more experienced members of PurseForum might have some good suggestions. It was so easy. Coach suggested filling the bags with wadded newspapers after bathing them. The bags stiffened up a bit, but soon came around to their full beauty! What color is your stewardess?
