Nice save! Love the color!

I think that's the same one I have in a yellow color. It has the same "cashin for sills" tag but also a "zapoleons" tag.

Yes can you imagine all the bonnie cashing stuff that probably gets thrown out at thrift stores because the people that sort have no idea what it is and they just see it as an ugly outdated coat. Even my manager that priced it and brought it out for me was like....i don't even think i wore anything that ugly in the 70's...because i told her it was probably from the 70s. I see it as a piece of vintage designer history. Think that sucks is that i def cannot wear this coat. It's probably a small to medium in size...i'm more like XL. :( I would definitely shine up the brass and wear it in the fall if i could. I think it's gorgeous and it's in wonderful condition other than the few small marks near the collar.

Oh well it's more motivation for me to seriously be more conscience of what i eat and try to exercize. a few weeks ago i scored this GORGEOUS wedding dress with a veil for only 1 dollar. I figured it would be good motivation on the diet since i am getting married sometime next year. How cool would it be to say you got your absolutley gorgeous dress for a buck.

I think the big tag is the shop it came from Mary Dibble Hutzel's which is or was? in Ann Arbor. The only thing I could find was this: http://quod.lib.umich.edu/m/moaatxt/1539567.0001.003?view=text&seq=15

You have to search for it but it does mention Mary Dibble of The Hutzel Shops...

how cool ---are you in MIchigan or find this coat in Michigan??? I am very near Ann Arbor actually and it's funny I recognize some names, etc. But that shop is probably long gone because I've never seen it. This write up looks like from 1974.

Advice please, although I know you are a bunch of enablers, please tell me if I really need this bag. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...VJU70TX9Ul4%3D&viewitem=&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

The seller doesn't think the buyer is going to pay and so I might get a second chance offer on it. Do you think I should do it? If this is the same color as the rose Bridgit, then I know I love the color. It is not incredibly cheap though.

It's a spectacular bag. If you want it you should get it, but since you are asking the question it sounds like you have concerns?

If the color is true to the pictures, I'm not a big fan. Love the style and lining, but just not that exterior color.

last picture.

No idea what the "in ann arbor Mary Dibble Hyutzel's" tag means. Brand? Not sure. Only sure about the Sills Bonnie Cashin tag.

I think I've found a photo and press release for your spectacular Cashin leather coat in the Bonnie Cashin digital archives at UCLA, see link below. It cost $380 and that was a lot of money in 1978! According to the "Inflation Calculator" it is the same as 1,381 in today's money! (See below) And that doesn't include its vintage value!

The release says "Exclusive to you in your city" so maybe Hyutzel's was the only store in Ann Arbor to carry the coat?

What an incredible find! May I ask if you got it at a good price, like $1,381 or less?

There may also be Cashin's sketches and other images of the coat in the archives. Wonderful find!

Inflation Calculator results:
"$380.00 in 1978 had the same buying power as $1,380.92 in 2012. Annual inflation over this period was 3.87%."

That's actually a really GREAT price for a Leigh. And I own the same Rose bag and I do like it a lot. It's more salmon coral pink but I do like it. I'd get it at that price if the condition seems good enough.

I think I'm going to have to enable you on this one. I love that shade of pink also.

Again, yay for badly listed items! I'm glad yours worked out. Of course, that's how I got my fake little Rambler's Legacy. I have to say when I pulled it out of the package I ooh'd at the nice soft leather, but it didn't hold up to scrutiny, it's not as well done as the Taft. I'll post it in the authenticate thread before I "deface" it, but the stitching issues alone are enough to condemn her, and there are a couple other questionable things about that bag. I now have a navy original Rambler and I'll keep the "little one" around for awhile to see if I need it. What finally convinced me not to trash it was a cute little picture of someone wearing one...darn it.

And I agree it hardly seems worth it to use such quality materials on a fake bag. I can see the profit potential in a fake siggy bag but some of these old leather styles can't make as much money. Of course they're saving a fortune on overhead, street corner vs luxury store.

And I truly did luck out on that kiss lock tote! When I saw how much she marked it down I had to re-read the entire listing, double check the seller didn't have other issues the first time around, and once I was satisfied, I swear my hands were shaking when I hit the BIN! What if someone else gets it before me! I <3 that bag too!

And speaking of $79 deals, I don't know if any of you saw the used Amethyst Bridget on eBay? It was obviously used, but darn if wasn't the color I was looking for at a price I could justify. So I snagged it. I can't believe NO ONE else bid, I figured someone would sneak in a bid and at least raise it to the $80's somewhere. So I got it today and I really like it. It has hangtags, care card, and dustbag. There is a little wear on the piping which was disclosed, so used a little BlackRocks on just the back side to see how it looked, and it helped a lot:

Here's a comparison shot, the conditioned side is obviously on the right:

That's after it "soaked in" for a couple of hours. I'm very happy with it for the price I paid. So many times I end up settling for not quite the color I wanted when I pick up something like this, but this is my first choice. See how preeetty she is?

I love your amethyst bridgit and you got her at a great price, congratulations!
