Spotted a gorgeous plume FT40 in butler leather sitting on the shelves of the Munich boutique ❤️

I have been a plume convert recently and absolutely adore this classic line and it’s history. I didn’t purchase the bag above but I did pick a similar model for which I’ll do a reveal post in the upcoming days !

Please do. I hope it's the Dr. NO or the Russian V leather version so we can have a closer look at these!

@doni and @papertiger, as you each have both the 28 and 32 plumes I wonder if you would share your thoughts about them . I’ve had a 32 (RH chamonix) but released it because I never seemed to reach for it. I’ve been considering whether the 28 might work better, or maybe it was simply my reluctance to risk chamonix in any potential wet weather. I did love the look of that bag though, the contrast stitching was everything. Sigh.

The contrast stitching with RH is very special on Chamonix.

For me the 32 is a medium bag, so an all-day commute bag, put in cardigan/CSGM, makeup bag, gizmo-gadget things etc. This is a very easy size for me but I wouldn't be carrying it to a formal event. The 28 acts the same way at a pinch but I have to organise better and stick my cardigan/jumper somewhere else (I always seem to carry something like that Summer or Winter). Since once I'm out, I'm usually out for the day I do need quite a few little bits with me. In the UK I often carry sunglasses + umbrella + hat + fan etc. I would say the 28 can pass easily for a smart handbag, I do like the way it looks with a tailored look. If you travel by car you can always leave a sweater/umbrella/water or whatever there so a 28 would of course be fine.

I'm interested in buying a shooting star Plume and although there have been contrasting opinions on tPF it appears that a shooting star bag CAN be sent to H spa, can anyone confirm?? TIA:flowers:

It is my understanding that Shooting Star bags cannot be sent to spa as they are supposed to belong to craftspeople themselves and never to be resold. It seems that some stores will take them in no problem. So with everything there are rules/and then there rules that doesn't apply.

You can read about it here:

Thanks papertiger and lulilu, there are so many different opinions that I'd better ask my local H what is their policy. If I buy this Plume it badly needs new handles so I can't take risks.....

Thank you for confirming my hypothesis PT, the 'smart handbag' option will suit just fine so off I go.....

Okay, waited to use the 28 a bit before replying, and quite a bit have I used it too.

Basically, it is as @papertiger says. The 32 is a great work bag. It fits my IPad Pro 12.9” inside a pouch. And you can add a pair of heels or one of my Acne blanket (i.e. huge) scarves on top and quite a bit more. It looks very smart and professional, like a feminine and light version of a briefcase. Mine I see it as a winter season bag, but that may be the color and leather combination more than anything.

The 28 is much more versatile. I have actually been surprised just how versatile it is. It can very well function as a work bag. It fits my IPad Pro 11”. It does fit a pair of shoes. It does not really fit a blanket scarf, unless it is the only thing you carry, kind of using the bag for its original purpose :P. Compared to say, the Kelly 28, it fits so much more due to its rectangle shape, symmetry and absence of flaps or any other fuss. Which I know it is stating the obvious but it is really remarkable. I also like it fits perfectly in the bike’s basket. In terms of looks, I also find it very versatile. It can be very prim and lady like (specially in the box), but it can also read preppy, and because of the simple lines it can also look quite modern and minimalist, depending of what else your are wearing. Thinking about it, apart from the typical work-lunch-shopping, I have worn it in many different situations (college alternative film festival, lawyers tea party, minimalist avant garde gallery opening, school function...) and it seems to adapt very well to whatever environment...

So I’d say, if you have to choose between one of the two I would go for the 28 for versatility, unless you are looking for a work bag and you carry lots of stuff.
