^ Whoooo lily - serious hornback .

My mother had a ladies briefcase in similar - very hardy as well as beautiful.

forgive my nosey questions:

Is it lined in leather?

Is it vintage or new?
:p lol thank you! Yep lined in leather, (I have a pic of the inside somewhere...), it is from the late 60s or early 70s, but I got it 5 years ago. Despite the small size it holds a lot! I usually carry it to the casino!

Thank you lily,

Sometimes bags are so classic in style and in good cond it's hard to tell.

Leather lining, FAB. Whatever the plain/exotic leather on the outside a beautiful lining is my 'weakness' :tender:

I bought this clutch time ago from the bay. They sold me it as "1950s genuine crocodile clutch". I thought it might be made by Cayman skin but I can't find any "genuine crocodile skin" stamp inside the purse. It's lined in "suedette" and leather. It also has a strong, exotic smell. What do you think?

^^Thank you!

Ops... I meant "do you think it's made by genuine crocodile skin"?

That's a really hard one. Sometimes I can tell just by looking at a pic but I can't tell by just looking at yours. If you have a dealer in vintage skins near you I'm sure they won't mind telling you.
The fact that is doesn't have 'croc' printed on it doesn't mean anything BTW.

Oh, and it's not 1950s, more mid'70s-early'80s

I don't have any dealer near me. Is there something in particular that looks unusual in the skin to you?

Thank you. :flowers:

^ Seriously, I would need to have that bag in my hand to tell.

Within the era, the market for croc, lizard and snake were huge. Some bag makers (that sold at 'emerging' holiday destinations) used real croc but skimpt on lining materials but there was also a lot of stamped, glazed croc.

If you like the bag and it wasn't too expensive, keep and have fun with it. If it turns out to be croc so much the better
