I just recd my first (and only) exotic bag. I've had bags trimmed with python/snake skin, but never a full bag. I cannot get over how SOFT this bag is! I always imagined that python skin would feel rough and "scaly" but this is one of the softest bags I now own!!

this is the Python St Marks Lux in Taupe from Marc Jacobs (the second pic shows how soft the bag is when it's empty!)

And as a reference, here's a comparison of stamped python leather and actual python. When I first got the black bag, I was amazed at how closely the leather resembled actual python, but now that I have an actual python bag, I can really see the difference!

Congratulations on you amazing St marks, it really is a wow bag

Thank you also for the comparison photos.

IMO it is strange that any company would make the same model of bag from real and stamped exotic

thank you PT!
those aren't the same bag, actually -- the Black one is the Misfit while the Python is the St. Marks (altho he DID make the St Marks in the Black Python Stamped leather with either gold or silver studs). I think he may have done to because of the price point (there was more than a $1k difference between the two) - these proved to be popular styles, and both versions sold equally well (there was actually a satin version as well, which I personally didn't care for!)

^ Ah OK, I don't know all the MJ bags (I only have one)

I like both styles, and I don't mind stamped python either.

I think you have the right idea to have both, the stamped snakeskin can be used everyday no worries and then the real thing when need be. Good idea

They look great in this pic

Yea, I was worried at first (about owning both of them), but agree that they're different enough -- I'm actually really glad it turned out that way. When I was originally considering one of the python stamped bags I ALMOST chose the St. Marks version -- now I have one of each!!;)
