Shouldn't take it personally but..hit buying limit?

Listen to this...I made a purchase at an LV store and my husbands debit card was declined 2 times. Upon trying the third time, the machine wasn’t even acknowledging the card. We had to go to the ATM and make three separate withdrawals because of the limits to buy the item. Then, a week later I go to the same store and try to make a purchase...same thing happens to me! I was mortified to say the least. A couple of weeks later I went in the store and I was talking to the SA that helped me the last time and we were joking about being banned by LV. He then tells me he has a mini pochette that just came available that was made in France. (He knew I was looking for one). I said ‘I’ll take it!” Yep, you guessed it! Card didn’t go through...this time I called my bank and waited out the 20 minute hold while still in LV. Turns out Bank of America blocked LV purchases on my behalf without alerting me because I had been the victim of fraud in the past. I made sure to put it on speaker so the SA heard the conversation.

Fast forward to last night, it’s 5:00 on a Sunday evening and I’m headed to the LV store which is in Neiman Marcus AND NM is CLOSED (Coronavirus precaution). There were people outside staring at the metal covering the windows and doors...they’re supposed to be open until 8pm. We looked like zombies not knowing what to do next. I know this is trivial in comparison to what is happening in the world today but it was just a very weird moment. I felt selfish...as if my priorities were not in the right place. Maybe it was a sign that I should’ve been home instead.

Aha! Guess what.....the little Azur key pouch, the catalyst for this thread, became available yesterday. Out of curiosity I thought, I'll play, and went through the purchasing process.

I honestly didn't think it would work out. I didn't care if it didn't because it had lost my interest. At any rate, made the purchase and waited for the 'cancellation' email which did not show. HUH? Status this morning? "Order in Preparation".

How about that? This saga is now complete. I'll most likely be happy when it arrives since I know me so well and I like stories. This
little pouch not only has a story, but it's own thread too.

LV is perhaps trying to prevent people from purchasing multiple items, examining them at length, and returning whatever they don't want, or deem defective. A simple buy and return is acceptable. More like a real store experience.

But buying LOTS of items, then touching, playing, taking photos of them at the comfort of your home, then returning them, these items would be considered used, or like floor samples.

They are trying to even the playing field. In other words, no customer should be receiving returns from other customers. At least they are trying to prohibit/ limit this practice.

Agree. I hate that people do that. I've read that people will continually buy and send back an item until they receive the 'perfect' one. I received a mini pochette last week that was clearly a return. I'm fine with it though. Sometimes I will look at a 'flaw' as a birthmark - the defining mark of my item. Similarly to how I look at diamonds. I debated sending back the mini pa to try my luck on another one, but decided to keep it. I felt weird about sending it back for it to be continually shipped/returned over something that's not even that obvious.

Joining the "Cancelled Order" club. Called customer service who was very helpful and nice but found out I cannot buy anything for awhile as I was able to score some difficult pieces online. I convinced my poor hubby to sign up and buy me something but it failed as well due to the same household address. Fortunately with the help of all of you I was able to score my Mini PA and the Speedy BB VVN which I adore. Also received the escale pastel toiletry 26 for a friend. I did buy a few more items but nothing crazy. Will need to wait until the store reopens to try to get the toiletry 26 for a friend. I did return some items and explained that I was always interested in them but they weren't in stock in the store to view and when I received it, they didn't speak to me. Anyways....Stay safe all and happy quarantine shopping which I see as taking a sad/bad situation and trying to make the best of it.

Hi everyone!

I have been obsessively stalking a few items that I’ve been after for a while. I’m a teacher, and teaching remotely means I spend many many hours a day online. I figured it would be the perfect time to snag a lot of those hard to find items. Apparently I was too good at this, because LV rejected my order this morning (for the Escale mini pochette... sooo beautiful). When I called to ask if I’ve been blocked, the rep said they only allow 4 purchases every 30 days, and that I’d be able to order again once an item drops off the count. (I ordered more than 4.)

Has this happened to anyone else? I feel like they’ve flagged me as suspicious... I hope I’ll be able to order again. Many of the things I’ve ordered are birthday gifts for family and friends.

I have heard of this happening to others. I have purchased 4 items in the past 30 days (same as you, I’ve been trying to snag htf items when they pop up). I have my eye on a 5th item, but I’m thinking maybe I should hold off on trying to grab it since the order could end up being canceled. I understand LV wanting to prevent resellers from buying too much, but if you’re buying a few different items (rather than an obscene amount of items, or multiples of the same item), I don’t really see what the harm is. Oh well, this is probably a good thing since I really need to cool with my anxiety-driven retail therapy.

I just checked my order history and I have 5 items in the span of the last 30 days because I bought a few items from the escale + the canvas key wallets (4 &6) popped up and I had been looking for them. I have never had a problem being blocked but I do tend to spread my purchases out over the year and pre-quarantine, I mixed purchases between online and in-store. I am sure if they saw some kind of pattern suggesting I was a reseller, then I would have limits too.

Not sure what to say about the 4 item limit for some. It may not necessarily be a bad thing but for certain times of the year- around holidays- it would make sense to relax the requirement temporarily and within reason.

Yeah, I figure that’s what they’re trying to prevent.

You’ve hit the nail on the head with anxiety-driven retail therapy.. that is what I’ve been doing. LV has done my wallet a favour, lol. I have my eye on a special something something for my own bday gift to myself, and I’ll never get there if I keep spending money on SLGs online.

I’ve purchased more than 4, but in quick succession - and one product was purchased twice in the same print (gifts). I’m never online this much and figured it would be a good time.

I can see why that might look sketchy to a computer algorithm/IT person.

That’s so weird. I have 7 orders since April 3rd, returned one. None of the purchases were of the same item, so I don’t know if that makes a difference. They were 6 different Escale items, all pastel. I returned one of them, and the 7th item was an LV Key Holder/Bag Charm. I didn’t know they’d cancel orders if you buy too much. I actually thought they’d only do that if it were too many of the same item or because of too many returns. Interesting. Considering myself lucky now that nothing of mine was canceled! So sorry yours was!

The pastel Escale items are sooo beautiful! I'm a little bummed that I missed out on the pastel Mini Pochette.

I'm not sure if the limit is just a line they fed me? I called twice - once when I saw that the Escale pochette wasn't in my order list, and a second time. The first CA said that it happened just because the item was out of stock. Then I got an email saying they are "not able to accept" my order. That's when I called back again, and they said there's a limit of 4. (I have ordered 7 products in a week, many haven't even arrived yet... maybe it's the time frame.) I'm sure if I called a third time, I'd get a different answer.

It's no biggie, all things considered this is the epitome of a first world problem! I'll be patient and see what happens after the 30 day period passes.

I bought 5 items within a 4-week period (6, if you count my in-store purchase before stores closed) and had no issues. Perhaps your duplicate item, of which one was a gift, was what raised red flags on their end?
