Should I sell my M/L Chanel caviar flap for a Love Bracelet?

I'd get the bracelet...you'll wear it everyday. Bags are so big nowadays, I think your jumbo will serve your purpose.
Down the road you may find a M/L black/silver...pre-loved.

Thanks for your input. I never really thought of it that way. I always thought the regular gold Cartier would be better because it's more attainable than the ones with diamonds hence being easier to resell.
for designer jewelries even Chanel, you will surely loose value when resell.

for premium designer handbags, their resell value are equal or more when time passed by.

I do not buy brand name jewelries. I love diamonds, and buy for quality not name. Rolex are only designer I purchase for watches.

gold will enhanced resell value more than Chanel purses, especially inflation occurs, if you buy it right, which does certainly not brand name stuffs.

people may say don't care about reselling.....you never know what will and do happen later in life. Therefore, I do most of time very realistic on purchasing things.

But what good would a bag she isns't using do her? Bags are not investments. Buy what you love and will wear and enjoy.

I think you should post this in the Chanel forum and I'm sure a lot more people would say to keep the M/L. The M/L is only $900 less than a YG Cartier Love Bracelet if you buy it retail. I love Chanel, but I would go for the Love Bracelet. I think it's because I have several Chanels (I prefer Jumbos as I can't fit much into M/L) and don't use them every day .However, I wear my Love Bracelet every day!

Plus with all the bags that I have Chanels and other designer brands, the high has worn off of getting a new bag and nothing beats the excitement of getting new jewelry.

I think there are bias advice because you are in this forum. Had you gone to the Chanel forum they might go for the bag.

Me personally, id keep the bag and save for the bracelet. Chanel and Cartier will only go up and if one day you regret selling the bag, you will end up paying more to replace it. The increase is only going to be about $500 so I'd eat the increase later and have both.

Ultimately get what you feel like you will love more. Luxury bags and jewelry is rarely about being practical! So I don't think too much about how often I will get to wear it. I have shoes I bought that I would never wear out but it makes me happy to open that box and see them, so they are worth it to me!

I love Chanel AND I love the bracelet (it's really growing on me). BUT Chanel's prices and price hikes are just as crazy as Cartier - my SA Told me that they are going to have another price increase soon (or did it happen already?). Anyway, if for some reason you wanted to buy the bag back or something similar in a couple of years, you're looking to spend a few hundred to a thousand more for the same bag. I would really think about this for a bit. Are you going to buy any more Chanels in the future? Chanel bags are classic as everyone else has mentioned.

(like whoops) Personally, I would keep the bag and try to find a way to buy the Cartier without having to sacrifice part of your awesome bag collection! (Sorry I know this doesn't help!)

I have a pink caviar M/L flap that I RARELY use, like maybe only a handful of times per year. But I don't think I could ever part with it. I'm at that stage where I've basically sold of all of the bags that I don't love and kept everything that I know that I'll treasure. I'm in love with the Love bracelet too..but I honestly think you'll get more bang for your buck if you sell the Chanel down the road versus the Cartier. I would just keep the Chanel and get the Cartier later on...like others have said..Chanels price increases are more frequent and just as crazy as Cartiers.

^^agree with the posters above me that say to keep the bag and save for the Cartier. Any time you sell something you WILL lose money from the transaction, and if you at all think you will regret the sale of this bag, you should hold on to it. Plus, as many people have pointed out, Chanel price increases have also practically doubled prices of bags over the past 5-10 years. This also affects the price of used bags, so it's something to take into consideration.

I adore my Chanel flap (mine is the 2.55) but I only use it once in awhile. I wear my love bracelet everyday! Cost per wear - bracelet wins everytime!
I'm a firm believer in cost per wear. I spend more money on my everyday pieces than I do special occaison pieces. I would rather have a gorgeous bracelet on my wrist everyday, than a chanel bag that I use for at most 48 hours a year!

Thanks for your comment.

You're right about getting another brand or style of evening bag. It's true, I haven't used it much at all...feeling like I'm not getting the biggest bang for my buck with it. I think I learned my lesson in a way, with evening bags, I am not going to overpay anymore.

The M/L is a great classic bag, but it doesn't really fit much for daily life at all....Le sigh! But it's sooo beautiful though!
I used to put a lot of money into bags but I stopped a few years ago, now I spend more on jewellery than bags. It just makes for sense for me, but everyone is different! I do think you should get the love bracelet instead of keeping the M/L. the chanel might be pretty but if its sitting in your closet not being appreciated maybe it could go to another home that may get more use out of it?
good luck with your decision!:smile1:

Exactly!
we are twin :p
I love to see what I have !

this is a tough one... i have a jumbo and the cartier bracelet... would i have been able to sell the jumbo for the bracelet? didn't even think about it ... even though the last time i used it was like 2 years ago lol. i love both equally!!!

and honestly, i think chanel holds its value quite good, if not better than cartier.. given their desire to be more like hermes. even if you buy a preown down the line, it will be really expensive
