Should I return it?

Well, being that you were the detective and found the ebay auction you would see that I paid more than retail for it:

Yes, I took it to a Coach store (the same day I bought my Carly).

I did wear it once. My comment of "once in a while" meant that it was sitting in the dustbag and would only be worn once in a while. Not that I have worn it once in a while.

Yes, I told them I purchased it on eBAy and that's why I was getting it authenticated.

Yes, I would go back to the same Coach store that told me they would give me merch credit and speak to Karen who told me I could return it.

I didn't get a discount for it and am not commiting fraud if I was told from a SA that I could return it.

I'm not back pedaling. Just because I posted this thread does not mean people have to judge me. You're the only one arguing this. Obviously, you have some problem with it and that's exactly it....YOUR PROBLEM.

I have people PM me saying, they agree with me and think it's rude what you are saying. So keep talking...:jammin:

IMO, if she took it in to a store to have it authenticated and if the SA told her if she didn't like it or it didn't work or whatever (after confirming that it was indeed an authentic product), they would give her a credit, then thats the store's business. I think Ashley was just wondering if public opinion was should she sell it or keep it, based on style and the fact that she does have so many bags and that one's not getting used after an initial trip somewhere. From my experience working retail (not at Coach), most "luxury" good stores tend to have a fairly relaxed return policy, b/c they make so much $$, losing a little on a return to make a customer happy is hardly a blip on their radar. I just think that if they SA authenticated it and offered her a credit, regardless of where she got the bag, then thats up to the store.

Just offering my $.02 :smile1:

Thank you! Just like if my principal tells me I can or should do something, even though the Union or District wouldn't approve, I wouldn't be at fault...the principal would. So therefore, if the SA returned it for me and gave me merch credit and shouldn't have...it would be the SA's fault not mine.

Ok if that is store policy but here if you use a bag then they will not take it back. I mean truthfully i would be furious if i thought that i was paying full price for a bag that someone had used!

If there is a current bag at your outlet on the clearance table, it is probably used. Once, twice, whatever. Someone returned the bag and then upon further inspection it wasn't in perfect condition, so it's sent to the outlets. I bought a bag with a pen mark on it, so it's probably used. But, I buy used bags all of the time, so I don't really care.

Over on the LV forum people keep buying this same indigo bedford that has obviously been used as it's dented and a bit dirty (but it's the only one left). Now, I think that is pretty :cursing: that LV is still expecting people to spend all of that money (over $1000) on a bag that is NOT in perfect condition. At least Coach sends them to the outlets at a discount.

Ashley, if you've already talked to a SA and she was cool with it, I wouldn't care about what anyone else thinks. I would do the same thing and don't think you're doing anything wrong.

Not to be a :hysteric: but there are a lot of people in this thread with low post count and the one thing I like about PF is that people in the Coach forum are usually able to express their opinions nicely. I cannot say the same for other parts of the forum, but the Coach folks are usually nice and respectful and that is why I love it here. Take a chill pill guys.

Thank you! I agree and that's why I love to post here too!

That actually happened with a friend of mine that bought LV. She was showing it to me and it looked as if it was used. I asked her if she got it at a discounted price and she said no she paid retail, but it was the last one so she took it. I would've never done that. But, hey whatever floats your boat.

I think the return thing happens at a lot of stores: the merchandise is cleaned up and restocked. As other people have said: at least the Coach handbags are sent to the Outlet.

[And when I said I wore it once, it was for about an hour to drive down to my mom's where we went to her Coach store and got the Carly.

I'm surprised the SA would let you return it since she knew that you had your stuff in it and that you were using it. At the Coach store that I go to, if you have any return, even if it has the tags attached, stuffed with paper, your receipt they check the handbag over like they are looking for any little defect so that they know that it is truly unused. But, I live in smalltown USA.

We don't have outlet stores here in UK. There would be no chance of taking a used LV back to the store here so that is why I am baffled that it can be done elsewhere. I suppose people can use a bag which ends up with no apparent signs of use then take it back & say it hasn't been used but sorry that is dishonest in anyone's book & I would not like to pay premium price for that bag, chill pill or not!

If you wouldn't have cut the tags off and used it, I wouldn't have a problem with you returning it. But now that you have used it, even if it's only once, it's dishonest to return it for a merchandise credit.

The only way I'd ever return a used bag is if there was some sort of defect on it. Sell it on ebay if you want the cash for it.

What is LV's policy like in the UK? Here it's 14 days as long as it can be resold ... worn or not. Lots of people over on the LV forum have bought things full price at LV that have obviously been worn before and have had to take them back to exchange. The silly indigo bedford has been sold and returned at least 5 times by different people here.

just curious.was the bedford returned at the store or ebay?

Oh, so you will wear a bag and return it but you would refuse to buy one from the store that looks like it's been worn? Nice.

Don't shoot!! But, I'm w/ Mokoni. Just put yourself in the buyers shoes would you like to pay retail for a used bag. When I'm dropping a few hundred on a bag I want it in brand new perfect condition. I wouldn't expect any less. I could see taking it back if the bag hasn't been worn & still had tags attached after a year. I bought a bag in March from the outlet & never used it (tags were on it) & returned it last month w/ receipt w/ no problem.

I would keep the bag but if you really aren't going to use it list it on ebay. Do a search of completed listing & see what previous ones sold for.

Store, but LV makes you have receipts and only allow a 14 day return. There is no way you could buy something off ebay and return it to LV. But since Coach has no limit on returns and an SA said it was okay, I don't see what the issue is.

I traded a wallet for one of those lemon coin purses once and then returned the coin purse to the outlet for the $40 or whatever the current price was. She said it was unused, but how am I to know she didn't use it? I originally just wanted cash, but I knew I could return it and get store credit, so I agreed.
