Hi ladies! So I am thinking of selling my Chanel black jumbo flap to fund for a Balenciaga black city with giant silver or rose gold hardware. I havent worn my flap in about a year. I have three children, two of them being small children and i feel like the Chanel is not practical enough for me, BUT i cant seem to let go of it for some reason!! Its like a love and hate type of thing. I really love the Balenciaga city and would love to have one but i would need to sell my flap. Cant afford to keep both. Ladies please tell me what i should do! Im confused. TIA:smile1:

I think you should let the Chanel go, especially since you have not used it in so long. Its like having a wad of cash in the closet and never touching it, and yet having something you really wanna buy. The Balenciaga, I think, is much more kid-friendly. It's easier to carry and doesn't need to be treated like another baby lol, and you'll probably have a little cash left over even after buying th Balenciaga! Just make sure you get a good price for your Chanel. When I sell something to fund something else, I get over excited and let my item go for much less that its worth to get something else quickly! lol :shame:
Good luck!

Thank you EMMA! Your so right about having a wad of cash in my closet. I think about that alot and makes me want to sell it. But then i think about it a little harder and the Chanel is so beautiful, I just can seem to let it go eventhough i dont wear it much. This is why i came here to see if you Chanel lovers can convince me to sell or not sell it aaaahhh!!

Is the bag your only Chanel? Or do you have a few?
If its your only one you could probably buy your Balenciaga and fill the Chanel-shaped hole in your life with something low on the price scale like a Timeless clutch, a little down the line that is.
The best thing I can think to do, since your in no real rush to sell, - the bal city isn't going anywhere- is to take your Chanel bag out this week and see how much effort it takes to carry it around - how much you have to baby it, check it to make sure its "ok", notice how heavy or uncomfortable it is. If it takes a lot of work or causes a lot of hassle then ditch it! If using it was like running into your long lost love then hold on to it!

I wouldn't sell the Chanel Jumbo. I would just keep it until later when the kids are older the start using it again. With Chanel increasing price at least once a year, you will need to pay a lot more in the future if you want it back.

I would just save up to fund the Balenciaga...It's just not as special as Chanel to me.

Yes it is my one and only Chanel, that is why its so hard to get rid of it. Your right, I am going to take it out and see how i like it. The reference to the "long lost love" was very funny! Thanks for the laugh!:D

Thank you MUSICSCRIP for your advice. I have a newborn so i might not be using it for a long while lol. If i sell it, there is no going back. I will never purchase it again because of the price and price increases.

I would seriously think twice before selling your Chanel.
I have a 227 Flap that has just sat in my wardrobe for nearly 2 years, without me ever wearing it once. I had moments where I was going to sell it because I never used it, but then the strangest thing happened, I used it last week and fell in love with it again.
I have 3 Balenciagas, and I love them, but they dont come close to the luxury of Chanel.
You will probably take a loss on selling your Chanel, and you have to ask yourself if you will ever be able/willing to spend this much on a bag again.
I would seriously reconsider.

I totally get what the ladies are saying... it is an incredible bag and you're so lucky to have one! But you really can't make the decison without take it out again! Try it out and if you feel amazing with it then it is worth hanging on it! If it does nothing for you while carrying then I say get rid - if you've lost the real love for it and just like the idea of having it but never using it then I would consider it a waste of money! But if you try it and love it then hang on to it forever - It's not like it'll ever go out of style!
You might not ever get another flap - but clutches, wallets etc can always be little luxuries!

Thank you RAZ. I know Chanel is much more luxurious than Balenciaga. That is why Im having a hard time with this decision. Im kinda leaning on the not selling side but who knows. Advice like yours makes me not want to sell it lol.

I have a 20 month old and I love my black bal work..I use it all the time! I say if you're ot using it, sell to get something u will use! What about a Chanel gst? I just bought one and it's a great mommy bag..

I seen your video SABINALYNN, beautiful GST! I had a Chanel GST about 3 years ago and sold it to fund another bag. Sometimes i regret it but oh well. It is a very practical bag but got bored of it. I get bored of my bags very quickly, dont know why.:p

I know its really hard, I sold a Navy Chanel Flap at a loss a couple of years ago and its something I have always regretted.
I love my BBags, but they are no where near as luxurious as a Chanel.
The thing to remember is you are not always going to want/need a child friendly bag, and you will probably be investing a good majority of money in your family.
But if you really dont feel the love for your Chanel Flap, it may be wise to sell it, but its a really hard choice, as Chanel prices are just going up and up. It isnt too hard to find a black, trendy leather Mummy friendly bag, but its another thing being able to afford another Chanel if the bug ever bites you again.
Its might also be an achieveable dream to save really hard for approx £1200 for a Balenciaga, but nearly impossible to save approx £3000 for a Chanel Flap.

I get bored of my bags quickly too! :smile1:Go with your gut..if u are not happy with the jumbo then what's the point of having it! U can prob get 2 balenciagas after you sell it!

I sold my Chanel Matte Black Reissue Camera bag to fund 2 Balenciagas, but I still have 3 other Chanels in my collection. I think since you only have one Chanel, I wouldn't let that go since its so classic.

But on the other hand, Balenciaga will be discontinuing rose gold giant hardware this season and will come out with smaller giant hardware next season, so If you really want this seasons 'giant' hardware, I would sell the Chanel. Maybe you'd be even able to get 2 Balenciagas from selling the Chanel.
