Respectfully contradicting you, but there don't seem to be any 'both sides' on this thread. There are a bunch of angry, upset and unhappy buyers and people who are angry, upset and unhappy on behalf of those who have been cheated.

Some people advise somewhat precipitate action and other people suggest action after obtaining proof of fraud from an impartial third party. That's the only difference I see.

I guess I saw it another way. I saw statements from people who knew her personally, people who were directly dealing with her at the moment, people who had no dealings with her and people who had done business with her in the past...Perhaps there was another place in which something more was said, but I did not see it...

Thanks for the support, everyone. The trouble is, I'm living in India now and I don't know any appraiser here that I can trust to give me an impartial view. They are more likely to tell me my stuff is crap and just buy from them. Plus, I think pearls are not as popular here as other stones so I'm not sure of their expertise either.

I think my pearls look fine and I can only thank god I did not have enough money to buy any of her super expensive 5-figure strands although I was tempted.

I guess I feel "betrayed" because Elana used to be so responsive and fun to work with and I used to highly recommend her. And now all this.... :(

^I don't think you have anything to worry about, everyone has been saying the pearls they purchased from her were the only ones that were actually worth what she said they were, if not more. It was the diamonds and other jewelry that was questionable. Please don't worry about your pearls, from what I can see in your avatar, they are GORGEOUS and I would be happy to have even one of them. :smile1: I would definitely not worry about her pearls.

I agree, I purchased a couple pairs of some pearl studs from Elana last year. I got them appraised, and I was told that I got a good deal on them.

Actually, I've just been reading that some pearls were found to be worth less than the members paid?

However, ITA that they are probably the least worrisome part of her stock

.

I purchased a pair of Tahitian earrings from her last year and while the pearls themselves are just fine I had to do some "clean up" work on the glue that held the posts to the pearls...if all I have to complain about is shoddy workmanship then I feel myself a very lucky gal.

GGA.....I am SO sorry this happened to you. I remember quite clearly how happy you were to receive your items....are you sure you have no recourse?

Mine too! with the teal blue tahitian dangling earrings I got as partial credit from the colored diamonds I returned. Also, the ruby briolettes I got, got a deformed wire which I just have to fixed instead of returning. In fairness, she gave the other part of the refund by sending a check to my dh. after that experience.... I dont want to order anymore.

The local store where I get most of my pearls advised me that there are lots of FW pearls now that are treated with "glossy or mirror like" effect to look like south seas.

Ha! It felt good to finally say it out of my system!

I think a lot of people were initmidated by the fact that she was very "well liked" by a lot of forum members. People were afraid to speak up. Im sure there are a lot of people who had some bad experience but kept it to themselves.

I've purchased from her and am interested in this conversation. I was checking to see if she's been arrested lately (that's a no) or was involved in any civil litigation (she is) in the hopes it could give us some understanding of what is going on, since Elana is not speaking up. For the lawsuit, it looks like Baggins won, and she owes them 10k, but maybe I am reading it wrong.

I think its the same lawsuit for some reason. Like maybe they had to win the lawsuit then file the judgement? Not a lawyer though, maybe someone else here knows.

I just hate to see the website still up if the business is defunct.
