Thanks kathyrose! May I ask what are the colors of your suede bags that you have used shinning monkey on? Are they light or dark colors? My Onatah is yellow and I'm wondering if shinning monkey would cause any discoloration.
Mine was pink and white. The white did not discolor but I can double check when I get home. I did two coatings on that one too but it was two strips of white on my Coach tie dye white demi.

Just thought i'd add this for those that are worried about spraying their Lv's and other designer bags...

Shining Monkey
aka "Monkey Spray" - Shining Monkey is the spray I prefer on vachetta. I goes on even and dries extremely quickly. It helps keep the vachetta light and completely repells water for months. It won't cause uneven spotting on the vachetta like Appleguarde. It's more expensive, but comes in a HUGE can that lasts forever. This is what I use on new vachetta to keep it white, or cleaned vachetta I don't want to darken up again. You have to respray every couple of months because it was developed for cars that get washed, rained on, etc. so it keeps stuff nice.

These excepts were taken verbetam from Live Journal -
Louis Vuitton - forum - Just a taste of what others are saying!!!

"shining monkey works like a dream!
i know there have been a few posts already about shining monkey, but i just wanted to share my experience!

i sprayed it on my speedy 25 last week with no problems. it dried quickly and clear. however, i was still afraid to take it out in the rain (it's brand new). so, this morning i sprayed shining monkey on a paper towel, let it dry, then i poured water over it. the water just beaded up on the paper towel! i figure if shining monkey can waterproof something so absorbent as a paper towel, it will surely work on my speedy!!"

"I love shining monkey. I'll never use anything else. I got caught in the rain with my neo speedy right after I'd sprayed it and it got WET AAARRRGGGHHH there was nothing I could do, but the water sluiced right off of it and it still looks good as new+ my friends BF owns shing monkey and I have to help her buy new bags haha! (like she really needs more!) "V

"I totally agree~!
Shining monkey worked wonders for my new LV as well. I'm so amazed you did the water test, though!"
"WATER PROOF YOUR LV'S!
Apple Garde - Shmapple Garde. An LVLU member has a car company and her and her friends swear by this revolutionary product called Shining Monkey Spray. They swear it completely water proofs any material - including Louis Vuitton Vachetta leather . Of course, I was skeptical. I've been using the well-known product Apple Garde for years - which somewhat protects your bags from accidental spills, but in no way makes it so you can take your bag into the rain - it in no way water proofs the leather. But I took a shot. 1 bottle costs $15.99 - but it is much bigger than the Apple Garde spray bottle. It came in the mail today -

here is my review:
(Taken from LVLU)
I sprayed the highly-regarded Shining Monkey on my speedy and WOW - Screw Applegarde - SERIOUSLY. Shining Monkey goes on completely grease-free - and NO MORE MESSY, ORANGE SPLOTCHES! I haven't yet dumped a bucket of water over the bag (yuk yuk) to test the product - but it gave the handles a slight waxy feeling - I can feel it's water proof! I was SO SHOCKED when I sprayed the crap on and it dried in .5 seconds. SHOCKED. I'm so used to spraying apple garde on the vachetta and it gets all greasy - and the canvas gets all slimey and take forever to dry and forget wiping it off - it takes so long and the bag STILL looks shiny! Shining Monkey is KING - you spray it on and - BAM - water proof and NO slimey/greasy feel - same for the canvas.

My rating for Shining Monkey: 2 thumbs way up!"

And here are the specific instructions:

Fabric Protector Instructions

Unsightly spills and accidents will happen, and if you are like us, that is the worst luck. Sticky seats, stained fabric, and lousy smell for who knows how long. We hated that so much we spent over 12 months developing a product to rid your worries of these catastrophies. The all new revolutionary Fabric Protector.
The Shining Monkey Fabric Protector is available in a convenient CFC free aerosol. This quick and easy protectant makes protecting your prized interior painfree. Strong enough to protect our project Ferrari 360 Spyder's targa top for months and still beads water off like wax on the car.
Must be some seriously potent stuff, it yes! Best of all it is still gentle enough for your most delicate suede leather. The beauty of this formula is that it will not leave an odor, discolor or sticky film residue when it dries. It will not affect the look, feel or breath-ability of the protected surfaces.

Instructions on proper use of the Fabric Protector.
1. Clean surface thoroughly
2. Allow to dry
3. Shake can vigorously
4. Spray generously on area
5. Allow to dry completely
6. For high traffic areas apply additional layers for extra protection

Kathyrose, i think that is the instructions for cars, not naked vachetta on bags. I think its best to spray lightly on bags.

BTW, Carol is a forum member here. :)
I actually pulled that off the protectmybag.com website. It's the same instructions as when using it for cars Nick says. I will point that out to him that he has to change "cars" to "bags". LOL, he probably forgot!

Yes, I am the Carol Roberts quoted above. Good thing it is a common name, since I am not entirely comfortable with my last name being posted on a forum of 5000 people. ;) But yes, I sent Nick my thanks for his product and he asked to use my quote. He's a really nice guy.

Kathy, I think you have a crush on Nick. How cute. Didn't he make a that web page in like 20 minutes for you last time?? Wow you are good.
LOLOLOL! I was just so surprised he emailed me back in 20 mins with a webpage link and asked me what did I think of it! I was embarrassed to call back only after a little over a month of my initial order! He was like, "Didn't you order some a little bit ago?" I said, "Yes, 2 cans. They're all gone. I have a lot of bags!" He's really nice!

But its posted on the internet of a million more.

I just ordered two cans of the SM and used the purseforum777 discount code. Thanks! With ground shipping the total was a little under $40. I am in the US.

It says its good on carpets too. Has anyone tried it on carpets?

(This thread made me realize that I am running around with my MJ red satchel untreated! Yikes!)

Sorry didnt know it belonged to a member, I was just posting the feedback about the product to ladies that were unsure of using the shining monkey on their bags. I'm sure no one would have know(other then members that know Carol) who it was until Msstammy pointed that out.
