I just want to stress when you do get SM, to go lightly when you spray. You don't have to use a whole lot for it to protect your bags. Better to underspray than overspray, kwim?

I just received some, but oddly enough, I'm sooooo scared to use it on my bags, even despite reading everyone's raves about it. My main concern is the smell being to pungent, I keep thinking that the chemicals can't be good for you, especially if you use it on your handles, which come into contact with your hands. I know that it dries very fast, but subconciously I keep thinking that the chemicals are on there and you're touching it. Am I being overly irrational and paranoid?

Thanks Caannie for the pictures, the patina looks so nice and even ! I think that when I get my can of SM in the mail, I'll ask my husband to do the spraying for me as I am not too crazy about chemicals either and I am hoping it won't be too long before I become pregnant with #2 . I also think that with all aerosol sprays, it is best to hold the can at least 2 feet away to get an even spray, what does everyone think? Does SM leave some kind of strange smell behind? We all know it was made for cars !:p

No strange smells left behind over here. Just follow instructions and let it dry. I usually let it air overnight and when I inspect it the next day, no smell at all.

I was just wondering, would any of you lovely ladies (and/or gents!)that can actually get your hands on some cans of this, consider selling them on market place, or ebay? I *really* hope you'd consider selling internationally....

I think that is a very good idea

I'm going to order some!! Is there anything to clean the water marks out of the leather?? I remember someone mentioning saddle soap but what is this and where do you get it (also does it work)??

It doesn't smell at all when it dries! It has a very light scent when you use it too. Mine only took a few hours to dry. It really worked too ... I got caught in the rain yesterday, and it looked like the water would soak into the vachetta, but it dried and didn't leave any marks! I got some on my hands and just washed it off.

Saddle soap is meant for leather saddles, but I don't know if it would be okay for vachetta. They sell it at tack shops (places that sell saddles and horse things). You could probably get it at a pet store if that's all they have in your area.

Just received a can of Shining Monkey. Rather than try it out on my purse, I sprayed our leather loveseat. (It is reddish-honey color -- not unlike well patina-ed Vachetta handles!) It really works well -- you can barely see it when it goes on and it dries quickly. Very little smell.

is this only available int he US and Can area?? where can I get this product? I used scotchguard on my Denim Baggy and covered the leather parts /removed the straps and covered the hardwares and sprayed it.... so far it looked ok, but I like light patina and am worried that it will get dark soon....
