As you spray, the leather darkens slightly, and in about 30 seconds it will lighten right up again as it dries. You cannot tell that you have sprayed anything on it at all. It is exactly the same color as before you sprayed!

I had some unfortunate incidents with Appleguarde unevenly darkening vachetta, and it never really lightened up again. This stuff dries so fast, there is no way to spray it unevenly. ;)

What if the leather is alrady starting to patinia-ize, should/can I still spray? Also what if I have some water spots-spray or no spray? If I spray over the white MC will it protect the white form getting dirty? Should I spray my white le fab?

The shining monkey spray was originally made for convertible car tops I believe. If it can withstand rain on rag tops, then I think it can withstand rain on bags. I love the stuff. :) I even sprayed it on a paper towel and it made it waterproof!

Shining monkey update!

I used it on my wapity before I took it out and within days of using it I picked a drippy water bottle out from the quick-stop case and the blasted thing to got a BIG water drop on my vachetta strap. I was worried and very upset and the drop stayed. In order to stop it from happening again I took the vachetta strap off my wapity and didn't look at it for a week.

I pulled out the vachetta strap again after a week and I see ABSOLUTELY NO signs of that big water stain at all. It's like it dissappeared! I couldn't be more pleased.

Spraying would make it waterproof and protect it. It will not remove spots but prevent it from happening. You can use it on bags that have been used. I read that some women spray them every three to six months or depending on how much they use their bags. So yes, you can spray the, even if it's not new.

I sprayed all my Coach and kate spade bags with this too. I use it on nylon, suede, canvas and leather. I'm already on my second can and I'm trying to find it in the stores instead so I can just get a new can whenever I want to but no luck yet.

Kathyrose: did it change the color/texture of the suede at all? I would like to protect my pink suede hobo.... I am forever knocking it into something dirty.... Thanks!
