Dear Ladies,

I ordered the Sweet Alhambra in turquoise. My husband hates them (or maybe he just hates the price :giggle:). He thinks they look like plastic :wtf:. And I was hesitant at first because I usually wear more neutral and dark shades - but now I really like them, especially for summer.

But is it the right color for my winter color type? Attached are two photos, one without makeup and one with makeup. By the way, I have dark blue-gray eyes

I would be very happy to receive your feedback

I agree that the vintage size shows up more, but the sweets are more practical for some situations. The good thing about the turquoise sweets are that they pop more than the other stones, especially for those with dark hair. It looks like we have similar coloring. Here are the sweets vs the vintage, and I personally think turquoise looks great with dark colors.

Sigh yes…
I just got caught up reading about your dilemma. Your ears bled because the post is too thick. My ears bled for the same reason, so I got thinner post. I also loosened the tightness as I have sensitive ears, and I do not like clips squishing my ears. The clip is just meant to hug the ears, not squish them.

On the length of the post, all a post needs to do is stick out the back end of the clip. You do not want them too long.
The reason is the longer the post, the more clearance from the clip you will need to put them through your ear piercing. The long post takes up space.

To visualize what I mean...
Imagine an extremely long post, say three inches long. Do you see how the super long post will make it difficult to put the the earring as now there is a super post with a short clip at the bottom, so you almost have to put your earring on vertically so the bottom part of your ear lob will clear. I hope that made sense.

I have had to adust all my earrings, and I ask for a thinner post and to loosen the clip tension to 4mm. I like 4mm as it is loose on me so it does not squish my ears. I also that it gives my ears a bit of "breathing space" as my ear lobes are super super sensitive, and anything off makes them bleed.

VCA once adjusted my earrings, and because I asked for the tension to be loosened, the jeweler assumed I had thick ear lobes and wanted a longer post. I did not like the look at all nor how awkward it felt to put on. I asked for them to swap it back to the normal length.

I hope my experience helps. Good luck!

Thank you!

So my Alhambra were at 3 and frivole at 2.5 so they’re switching frivole to 3 and we’re Changing post to platinum on the Alhambra. A little trial and error. Weirdly enough the earrings stopped majorly bothering me by the time I had my appointment but she thought I may have a slight allergic reaction.

We shall see… I can see many adjustments til we get it just right

Then do you recommend soldering once you get there?

Soldering is preference, but I do not solder mine. I have three VCA earrings and never had issues.
I do not like the fact the posts are permanently stuck in the earring. I don't sell my jewelry, but in case you do, as food for thought... some buyers may not want them if they are soldered, fearing they are "altered/fake" and not original.

Yes, you can unsolder, but that means the jeweler has to heat the metal to take it off or they may clip it and drill it out (not sure how VCA does theirs).

My motto for jewelry is the less you mess with the actual metal (e.g. resizing, polishing, soldering), the better.
That's just me though.

On your adjustment, yes... take your time. I had to send my Lotus earrings in three times, but it's worth it to get it perfect.
And yes yes... you are smart to remember the tension space you like!

My SA has it written down in my profile "client wants 4mm ear clip opening" so it's a no brainer when I buy earrings and have then adjusted.

You'll love your earrings! Frivole is my favorite of all time! Congrats again!

Very pretty! The vintage looks like blue agate in that photo!

Hi! I do not use anything. I think they feel like they are pinching your ear because the tension is too tight.

I am certain I have fat earlobes compared to the average earlobe because nearly all earrings I have purchased are too tight and require tension adjustment. Hence as I mentioned above, I like a 4mm opening. It is perfect as it still hugs the ear, but it does not pinch. The post is already through the ear to keep the earring in place, and it just needs a tiny tiny bit of a hug for tension. It does not need an overkill squeeze.

I've had earrings that pinch, and they are a pain to wear and makes my earlobe sore after only a few hours.

To me, using a plastic back to ease the pinch is just a "band-aid" for a bad fit. It does not really fix the tension issue.

I love VCA earrings because they allow earrings to be adjusted four ways. My SA, like yours, is super kind and understanding, and he said VCA earrings should fit properly, and we will get it right so you can enjoy your earrings. I am sure he knows if I enjoy one earring, I will buy more earrings too.:heart:

For what it's worth, I asked my SA to adjust my Lotus earrings with my usual requirements (e.g. thinner post, 4mm opening). The earrings came back with the thinner post, but they pinched my ears. I thought.. hmm... let me measure. Sure enough, they were 3.5mm, not 4mm, so I sent them back in to adjust a bit more. They feel great now.

I personally would not want to deal with the plastic back disks, and to be frank, I think they look a bit cheesy used for fine jewelry (VCA is not mall jewelry). That's just me of course.

If they work for you and you don't mind them, keep that system. If it bothers you, maybe try and loosen the tension a bit more to get rid of the pinching.

Every person's ears are different. One thing good about all this is you know your ears! You now know what you want for future adjustments.

Hope this helps.

+1 with what @BigAkoya said. I think if you love turquoise, then definitely keep them. If you’re unsure, I think YG MOP would look fantastic on you, and they would go with everything.

I am completely mesmerized by the VCA collections! Been extremely grateful that I could collect these 3 pairs of beautiful earclips. Am only left with the Lotus - saving my fund for my next purchase!

Will post some modelling when they are back after post adjustments.
Love your collection!!! Can I ask how you style the butterfly earrings? I absolutely love them, but worry that I won’t be able to get much use if they’re hard to match with outfits. Thanks for your insight!!

Hi @pblog1 I don't really match my outfits day-to-day to be honest... But my clothing is mostly from neutral colors, i.e. black, blue, grey or white and therefore, major blings from the VCA earrings should really brings out everything in place.
