The bag is finally on its way back. I'm nervous to see how it turns out. Didn't get much update beside for a short email "It's fine now" and a tracking number. It should be here in a few days I think. Waiting..........

Geez this sounds awful for you. I have two people out here who have done good work for me as well as other retail stores; if you are in need of other professionals, maybe they can fix your bag. Might be worth a shot. LMK if you are in need of such help.
I would love to know, and I'm sure there are others who do as well. I don't think I'll be returning for more refurbishment services at the Rago Brothers any time soon.

My fingers are crossed for you! After reading your story I was heartbroken for you. Here's to happy endings :smile1:

Update :
My bag finally arrived today. They did fix the holes/cuts. Looks like they just applied some leather filler or something, I don't know. The area around it is all wrinkled up, so much for "refurbishing". It looks old and weird compare to the rest of the leather. I hate the outcome overall but at least there are no cuts now. Hope the filler doesn't come off.

I guess this picture shows the damage more clearly. Look how smooth the leather around it is comparing to the wrinkled, sunken-in area around the turn-lock. Am I too picky or is it as obvious as I see it?

it is obvious, yes but - perhaps - after a while you'll forget it's there and learn to love the bag again:smile1: the sunken area is probably where their tool was resting while fixing the bag. you'll probably have to just be more aware of the turnlock and not let that area of the bag get hit by anything heavy. at least you have it back.

I'm sorry this happened. I hope they atleast offered some type of refund off the original amount you paid and if not shame on them especially since the repair shows. With that said your bag does look much better now and hopefully you will now be able to enjoy it.

I know it's hard to not know its there because you have seen how bad it was before. However, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you didn't point it out or I didn't see the before pictures! How's the chain!? Did they fix the plating ok? I hope your bag is back to a good condition. If they offer any additional compensation, I would ask them to give you more than half of your bag right now because 1. You probably won't be able to sell your bag at a good price because you have to disclose the previous repairs and damages. 2. For you to find another bag (even in the same pre love condition), you will still have to pay quite a bit difference. I would say find three similar bags on eBay and figure out a price, then ask them to give you a little bit more than 50% if your bag now is usable and back to some what of a good condition.

Good luck!!!

So sorry to hear this,. They did the same with one of my bags. It's small reissue with black h/w and metallic finish leather. It was dull and had rubbing all over the body,so I asked them for spa/conditioning service (for $270). When I called up they kept ignoring me and telling me it's still in repairs blah blah blah and when I received it back I could see traces of paint brush and a very bad finishing.

I got so frustrated I called them up , they didn't accept their fault . they also asked me to send it back for them to review, and didn't even offer postage. Then I took it to my local cobbler as I lost all hopes for my bag and was ready to try anything. That cobbler fixed it in 15 mins for $6. He put some cream/lotion and used shoe polish cloth to shine it and it looked way better than Rago brother's finish. I've promised myself to never use them ever again.

Oh my, that's bad news. At least the issue was fixed though, especially for only $6. I am very glad for you :-)

So I emailed them to express my disappointment for their "refurbishing" services. I did receive an apology email back along with a "compensation" for 50% off next time I use them which will NOT happen.
I'm too tired of going back and forth with them and have convinced myself that this is good enough.

I want to thank every single member that responded to my thread and gave me words of encouragement through out the process. It really does help and because of it I am able to move on now, lol.
I also hope this thread will help others who are unfortunate enough to find themselves in a similar situation.
I don't think I will ever send any of my bags away for repair again. I'll just have to baby them more. When I do buy vintage, I'll only buy bags that are in excellent condition. No more repair.
