Sent my Chanel to Rago Brothers for repair. They might have lost it???

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. It sounds like a nightmare. I was going to take them something vintage because Chanel won't work on the really old bags anymore. Now I will not be doing that. I need to do research on who is good.

Update :
I called and spoke to the owner. I told him what happened and he responded to the scratches and bumpy hardware with: it actually got dip in actual real gold so it doesn't come out perfect.
To my torn leather he responded, and I quote " No,no,no,no,that wouldn't be us. I can Try to take it back if you're positive it was me ( then went on and explain how the hardware was removed from the bag).
Basically with their "technique", cuts just don't happen and it's not their fault.
So I mentioned I took before and after pictures. Then he asked me to email them to him. Email attached with pictures sent. Now I just have to wait. I might have my dh speak to them next time as he was pretty intimidating or trying to be anyway by speaking over me and not letting me talk. On top of that he accused me of lying by denying it was their responsibility. Thank God I have pictures.

Is you record this conversation? Otherwise if you go to court, he will most likely say 1. You never called to get it settled 2. He was always professional and never spoke over you or yelled 3. You were aggressive and yelled at him so he was unable to appease you

Of course I did, thanks to your advice yesterday. I do hope though that no one, let alone a business can be that twisted. Although he did refuse to take responsibility. He told me he'll call me back after getting the email and get this thing sorted out before they close today. I think they are closed for the day and I'm not surprised I haven't heard back. It wouldn't be the first time they give me false information. Guess I'll call again on Monday. For now I have got to finish packing and get out of here.
Hope everyone have a great weekend ;-)

JSo he finally called me back,as promised. After getting my email with the photos attached, he seemed much nicer. I guess because he now knows I am not making this up?
Anyway, he said he had no idea what's going on with my purse and he couldn't seem to figure out what happened.
Anyway, long story short,he apologized for the mistakes. He promised to call me again on Monday with a solution after he figures out what happened. My guess is he'll talk to whoever was in charge of repairing my purse and hold them responsible? I don't know.
However since he was extremely nice this time and promise a solution, my weekend just got a little brighter. Hope he'll have a good weekend too, and come back to work on Monday with a great attitude.

You know, when I had Leather Surgeons refurbish my vintage bag (and they did a great job by the way), they did tell me that some of the vintage bags use cyanacrolyte (super glue) to adhere the hardware. It sounded like if the hardware/grommets did have that, they wouldn't be able to remove the hardware (or maybe remove it safely) to replate it. I wonder if that's what happened with your bag, and they maybe had to use more force on the hardware to remove it, and that's when the cuts to the leather happened.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me. So did they remove the hardware on your bag or leave them be?
They left some on mine and did not re-plate them.I'm guessing for the same reason. The gold was supposed to be an "exact match " but of course it's not. It's a total different tone. You know how the vintage pieces are 24k and they have that distinctive yellow tone which I like much better .I specifically asked for it and they said :yes, it will be exactly the same. I originally just wanted the chain replated because the turn lock looked great,no fading whatsoever, but I guess they felt the need to do the whole thing and ruined it for me.
The whole thing is just not good. My purse honestly looked better before the "refurbishment ". The cuts they made look worse in person than they do in photos if you can believe that.

Btw ,sorry for the long rant again. My packing for the move is coming to an end and I have more free time now,lol

Even though you are talking to him, I would put everything in an email or letter. I don't see them replacing your bag. THey will probably try and fix it again and frankly I don' t know if I would allow that. You can replace the hardware at chanel's if necessary. May not be the same but at least it will look good. About the damage to the bag and scratches and cuts. I do not know what can be done for that. So just email him to recap what he said so you have it for court if necessary. What a horrid experience.

(Wipe sweat) I'm so happy you are being your own advocate Heidi! Now if the owner would just get back to you. Gees, never heard of such bad customer service! Hope to hear an update next week. Good luck!! 🍀

Yes, they replayed all the hardware, so I guess it was one of the vintage bags that didn't use the cyanacrolyte.

Geez this sounds awful for you. I have two people out here who have done good work for me as well as other retail stores; if you are in need of other professionals, maybe they can fix your bag. Might be worth a shot. LMK if you are in need of such help.

Update:
So he emailed me back this morning asking me to send my bag back to them with a prepaid label. He said he'll call me when he receives the bag. As of right now I don't think I have another option. I mean they'll have to try to fix it first, and if I deny that, I'll have nothing. Oh boy, this is going to be a long process. Any thoughts?

normally you do need to allow a company to fix their errors, so i think it's ok to send it back and give them that option, because if you bypass that it'll be harder legally if you gave them no remedy. take video/pictures again as you did before, and continue keeping copies of all emails and calls. i would also want a time frame from them and a specific date when they will have it done, so you don't have to call to find out when it'll be ready, etc. they should make it a priority this time and give you an end date. i would also request that the person who worked on it before not touch it again because perhaps they are new, not trained, etc. don't let them give it back to the person who worked on it initially because that person is obviously no good at their job.just what i would do. i would also fight really hard to not pay them a cent - there is no way i'd be okay paying for this, even if they fix it.

Thx for posting this. My Chanel SA at NM told me to send my white caviar bag to them for re-dyeing since Chanel declined the repair. Now I think I'll just go to a local leather repair shop.
