I take the sales tag off and instead of throwing it away, I tape it to the outside of the box. My scarves are stacked in their original boxes with the tissue on shelves in my closet. They are very accessible and since I tend to wear simple clothes, I just pull one at random from the shelf and then build my outfit around it. After I wear that scarf, back in the box it goes, and then I place it at the bottom of the stack. I guess you could say that I never know which I am wearing until I grab the box on top. Kinda like "Mystery Outfit Theatre."
For theme week on SOTD thread, I will wear whatever the week's theme dictates. It is so much fun. Happy Scarfing.
Oh, there are many threads on this topic if you want to see storage. I would just do a search for it.
I have several methods. The most organized is my closet, I use removable labels to label each scarf box with the design and colors (as you can see in my avatar). There are rows for carres, mousselines and summer silks, 70 Vintage, and Cashmere/Silk.
I also have two drawers dedicated to carres I wear frequently and a drawer for my favorite GM and PM cashmere/silk. For seasonal scarves or my collectables (Robert Dallet designs) I use archival textile storage boxes that I purchased at the Container Store.
It really is too complicated but that is how it evolved. I also have an Excel database of my Hermes scarves.

While I'd love to have a Scarf Altar one day where they can be arranged like the scarf counter in the Hermes boutique, I currently have them stored two to a box, with a clear plastic label on the exterior. I keep the store tags in the box. (I'm out of my label making tape, so a few boxes are still unlabeled at the moment).
Like Memo, I too have an Excel database of my scarves, but what has proven to be far more useful is the Scarf Board I created by printing out the pictures I used for my individual scarf profiles in my Scarf Circus thread. That way I can see what I have at a glance, and besides, it's just pretty to look at!
