I'm not near my scarves at the moment, so I'll have to post IRL pics next week. In the meantime, here is the H catalog picture. It's the blue green on the bottom left and also behind the model.

Sorry mistikat. I just wanted to respond to someone else's request. For penance, here is the faux Asian scarf which I am wearing today. This version does not have the Carolina opera printed on it so I believe it is the original issue.

Your Turandot is really beautiful perfumegirl. Why "faux"? Because it's based on an Italian opera, and a Persian legend? :smile1: Your dip dye is also quite exquisite. It gives me hope that H will put out more dip dyes in the future, because I would really love to have one some day. None I've seen to date have made me pull the trigger. This is one of the loveliest I've seen.

Beautifully stated frou frou and Pirula. Do people think we should start a separate thread without themes to post modeling shots of what we are wearing and chat about scarves freely?

I always thought modeling shots about what people are wearing is what this thread was about. But frankly, we have several chat-type threads and don't really want to start another one.

I think what scarf lovers were asking me is if the discussion was not quite as free ranging as it has been for the past little while. So please bear in mind this is not me (or other moderators) coming in and saying, "Do it my way or else!" We come in to threads when we are asked to do so and people usually provide valid reasons why we should have a look. Again, the thread title is scarf of the day - it's up to you if that means it hews to a theme or is just what you are wearing. But ... it shouldn't really veer too far from that.

As Scarf Mistress, here's what I said in my last post:

"I'm okay with showing your scarf of the day, but I chose this year's themes based on member requests, so I hope they're of wide enough interest to encourage lots of sharing. Feel free to let me know (as you've been doing) if there are additional themes you think would be good for the future. And don't forget SCARF ON SITE for SOTD -- scarves that show places and activities that mirror where you are!"

I haven't (nor would I) discourage someone who shares an off-theme scarf -- people seem to enjoy seeing scarves here. I will be disappointed if the thread splits apart into SOTD and "Themes Only" as I feel like there are already a lot of threads that draw our attention. This one has gone on for a long time and I don't think I've done anything different as Scarf Mistress. Please let me know if I've made a mistake.

Lovely, my CI twilly sister!

My Bateau Fleuri is the only scarf that somehow coordinates with the theme of the week. Thank you xincinsin for these gorgeous pictures!

Great colorway!

I'm off theme but this is my scarf of the day. Pegase. View attachment 3277441

That purple is wonderful.

Now I know why I can't find a Turandot at a reasonable price...because everyone on TPF has it and the supply is severely depleted! LOL

This is one of my fave colorways of this design. Ahhhh one day...

My SOTD is the special edition Le Monde este Vaste - somewhere on this brightly colored map must be Japan?

My feeling is that the thread welcomes people to post what you are wearing for the day, days, or past few days, etc. whether on theme or no. Some people can't post everyday but want to share their silks and outfits. I like seeing the scarves flat and worn, and I try to do that so people get a chance to see scarves in action.

Misti is just letting people know there are other threads to handle off topic discussions like storage and I think there is a topic for knot tying etc. From my recollection, this thread was originated by the lovely Rose back before I was a member (2007)! Let's keep this positive and everyone is very kind and supportive.

Totally agree ABQ - thank you for stating this so well and you are terrific at shepherding the silkies! Splitting the thread is not a very good idea in my opinion,

You are a wonderful scarf mistress and I agree that I would hate to see the thread split apart. I always looked at the themes as a guideline as well and, whilst I try to stick to them, I think it perfectly okay if others show what they are actually wearing as not everyone has something to fit every theme. I know a lot of us [myself included] went off topic little bit about storage options so I have a feeling this is what the "reminder" was in reference to.

Wow! this color combination is really terrific!

Thanks for this - if that is how you interpet SOTD, this is fine.

As stated, there are many other threads to encompass the many other facets of scarf wearing and collecting.

Thank you lanit & BJS. I agree with your assessment of the "reminder."

ABQ you have done a fabulous job as scarf mistress. Please don't feel like I am upset with you.

I understand perfectly that we got off track with the discussion of storage. That was all of our faults and a helpful reminder to get back on track was appropriate. Although as Pirula stated that usually organically happens anyway. This somehow was taken a bit far in my opinion when the moderator started pointing out scarves that were not on theme. Clearly many of us thought that it was ok to post scarves off theme occasionally.

This thread belongs spiritually- I know not legally- to all of those who contribute. The title does include "which scarf are you wearing today?" Some enjoy sticking to a theme, some enjoy sharing whatever they are wearing, others like to demonstrate their vast collections lying flat. I won't say which of these approaches I enjoy more than others. Its not up to me. I recognize that everyone expresses their love of silk in a different way. So I don't complain to the moderators.

It seems like most of us want to be able to model our scarves even if they don't fit the theme on occasion. And we want to be able to ask question about how a scarf is tied, etc. If that remains the case, then moderator feel free to delete the thread that I created.

Yes. It is a controversial topic in the Asian community, so I'll leave it at that. However, I do like this pattern and cw a lot regardless of who designed it or what the topic is. As for dip dyes, I highly recommend one. I agree that the latest batch is not so super and hope they return to some of the richer colors in the past.

BJS, don't give up hope. I got mine when the only grail Turandot was the red cw. Reasonable price I guess depends on your own preferences. I want to say mine was somewhere in the $500 to 550 range for a pristine condition one but can't remember exactly.

Sounds good to me, brava for all your hard work and dedication, and of course if one has a scarf on theme it's great to post .
Let's get on with scarfing !
