hmm, on closer examination, I have pretty much maxed-out on my current storage method. so I need to:

1. stop buying scarves (hmm, not sure about that!)

2. free up some scarves (I have maybe 1 I am willing to free up)

3. figure out the next phase.

at any rate, here is my main scarf drawer:

1. most of scarves on the right, in a box lined with acid-free tissue, plus one tissue on top to keep out dust.

2. under the tissue- the scarves. I am pretty much maxed-out now.

3. left side, maxi-twilly(2) in boxes, 1 twilly in box, latest 90 scarf(s), not yet worn in original box. Not shown, but under the 90 box I have my 4 70s in 2 70 boxes.

also some non-H scarves just rolled up at rear of drawer.

As I said earlier, mousselines(6) and CSGM(2) and Xmas scarves(2) are stored in boxes in my closet.

Siiigh, beautiful....

Oh, and by the way? The answer is (3). [emoji4]

Very nice collection! So you dud decide on the blue purple waves. That's one of my contenders. May I suggest the trays? Each can hold 12 scarves. They are made for jewelry. You can buy a lid to keep off dust as well.

Thank you. DH thinks I have lost my mind and he could be right. I try not to do the scarf math of just went into those trays.

Hehehe!!! You are one resourceful lady my dear Pocketbook Pup! I am with you on not doing the math for the shawls and scarves [emoji51][emoji51]... No cure for guilt so why feel it[emoji6]

Wow! Love seeing most of your collection at a glance! We are definitely twins on 4 in your Upper right hand box, 1 twin in the blue box. But yet you have so many neutrals ( I guess for that GT bag)

Pirula- I started out where you are, storing 1-2 per box, open and stacked ( first in half a drawer, pretty soon a whole drawer). Next step was taking most out of the boxes, and storing folded in acid free box lined with acid free tissue. The whole box fits in my single scarf drawer. The mousselines, CSGM s are kept in boxes in the closet. These are labeled. ( use p-touch labeler).

Yes, I have kept all the orange boxes. Some empties are nested inside other boxes, mostly just stacked on. An upper shelf in my closet.

Yes I have an excel file. I photograph the paper tag if I have one. In Europe I have sometimes been able to photograph it before they take it away. I now have a plastic Baggie with all the paper tags and receipts. The excel file has design name, CW, season, when/where purchased, price, designer.

I also keep track of my clics and bangles in the same file.

I also have a word doc where I write down the scarf stories( if I can find them), plus other info about the symbolism or images in the scarf if relevant. I also keep track of when the design was issued/ re- issued.

Living in a small 1918 bungalow, I have limited storage options. One upside is that I have been going through my clothing and purging more of that so that I have room for the scarves! :lolots:

I like your idea scarf1... I am ready to let go of my clothes to make more space for my shawls and scarves[emoji6][emoji6]... In my house I have slowly taken over the closet I share with my hubby, one of the guest closets... God help me if I start moving towards my kids closet too [emoji23][emoji23]... No no no! I think I need to donate a lot of my clothes instead to make space [emoji51][emoji51]

That's hilarious because I'm the opposite with paperwork. Throw it in a box and hope for the best! Tax time is all kinds of fun. [emoji15]

Psssst, don't tell: I have a Carolina Herrera 140, and a Versace mousseline stole that I adore. And an Etro and a couple of Pucci's. And a Missoni..... No one needs to know. [emoji55]

I could truly just stare at this all day. Sigh...[emoji7]

Hehehe!! Rest assured your secret is safe with me dear Pirula [emoji3][emoji3]

I went through many stages of organisation:
1) orange boxes, one scarf in a box
2) take of the lids, turn over, rotate 45 degree, one scarf in box, one in lid (second hand scarves came without boxes, I wanted to see my treasures)
3) too much fuss to get to the lower ones, so I put them all in one clear plastic container
4) too much digging, got some IKEA Tjena boxes, modded them. Quite happy for some time. But I never knew which box contained which scarves. Decided to make labels or stick tiny scarf photos on the outside.
5) Found boxes with neat drawers. I really like those. I feel like a kid playing "store". I have one drawer for "nautic and sea", one for "nature", one for "graphic", one for "fun size" (twillies, maxi twillies, gavroche), one for MaiTai stuff and so on... The 140s still live in a bigger box.
I still want to make labels, time to do so will come. I already got"post it glue", because I like to reorganize:graucho:

Spreadsheet: with pics, artist, stories and H-number/color code if available. Want to add season, will not add price, I prefer not to know.

:drooling: stunning collection and perfect storage ideas[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

Thank you. So I thought about the less neck time issue. When I only had a few they were worn so often that they were starting to look well... Worn. So having more in your collection means more rotation and all of your scarves stay new looking. Same with bags. Don't you agree? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

My goodness lady I LOVE your rationale. May I please borrow it for bags, scarves and bracelets? [emoji173]️[emoji173]️... Next time DH thinks I have too many of these I am going to be quoting you my dear [emoji3][emoji3]

Wow that's fabulous HoneyLocks! And Amen to the "neck time" comment. I want to wear these babies! That's my biggest fear really. But obviously others manage it, and I don't see myself stopping!

Well here it is, the whole megilla. As you can see, I'm running out of space! [emoji15]

Wow!!! I am in the third phase too [emoji23][emoji23]... Maxed out my storage so have to figure out the next phase [emoji51]... Love your collection dear scarf1[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

Well. I'm embarrassed to admit that this is phase 2 I suppose. I started with a shelf in our shared closet. Which I adjusted once. Then ran out of room, so this. [emoji4]

As a former librarian, my head was all over the place thinking of ways to record my scarf purchases. I don't think classifying them by Dewey would work! So, I thought about Excel etc., but decided that I would prefer to use Evernote. This synchs across my laptop, PC, iPad and phone, so I can see what I have when I am out shopping (if I ever get out of bed to go shopping, that is). My collection is only small and won't get much bigger (10 90s and 1 gavroche so far), but even so, it is easy to miss something.

I also use Evernote to plan and list my clothes and other accessories. As I retired a couple of years ago, I needed to change my wardrobe to suit my new lifestyle, so I have been following the Vivienne Files blog and streamlining my colours. Using Evernote like this enables me to see where the gaps are and to plan for new purchases where necessary, although I am trying not to buy new clothes very often as I really don't need more.

Anyway, I list my scarves with the following headings and also put a picture of the scarf onto Evernote to remind me...

Name: Tyger, Tyger
Ref:* H002958S 05
Designer: Alice Shirley
Season: Autumn/Winter 2015
Date purchased: 16/08/15
Price: £280 plus £15 delivery
Material: Silk twill
Colours: Ardoise, turquoise, brique
Colourway: 05
Size: 90x90cm
Where purchased: Hermès website
Condition: New

As for storage, I have a real dilemma as our house is very small and I don't have much space. We also have real problems with moths..... Eek! So, at the moment, my scarves are in their original boxes and I have no plans to do anything else yet.

Hmm, I should check out Evernote! I also regularly read the Vivienne files!

Here's my organization system. I'm just shy of the 100 mark- counting twillies and gavroches. [emoji15]

I keep a spreadsheet as others do and I keep mine in these felt lined trays from the container store. I have to be able to see mine. And I spend more time than I'd like to admit admiring them.

This is a bit old. I'm constantly reorganizing. But left side top to bottom: misc colors, neutrals, 140 silks, gavroches and twillies. Right side: Colvert, blue, maxi twillies, 70s. Csgm and moussies stay on their boxes.

Oh and I stack 3 trays per shelf so I have one tray that is empty and reserved for future growth. I keep it empty just to prove that I'm not completely out of control.![emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Umm, I couldn't find the smilie for "jaw dropped on floor (6 stories down)". What do you do with the boxes, PbP?

Lol[emoji3][emoji3]

Thank you. This picture also needs to be updated. I need to get up on a ladder and add a bunch more. But you get the idea.

Is there a 12 step program for this?

:dead: no hopes of recovery now [emoji33][emoji33]

I have a spreadsheet of all my scarves arranged by color and also by artist. My technique for SOTD is to copy the year theme list (see the first entry of this thread) into a Word doc and then add the names of all the scarves I think will fit into each week's theme -- yes, I've got a draft for the year done already.:blushing: If one scarf is coming up twice in a month, I might hold the first or second showing. It's fun to think about the designs for awhile, especially when you need to find critters or bugs or places...:thinkin:
How do other Silkies do it?

That's a big job ABQ! Love your Serenite scarf! Ties wonderfully!

I'm just getting to where I need to organize now (besides in my scarf drawer). I was keeping written track of what I bought by purchase date, but now there's too many and I'm going to have to reorganize my list some other way to keep track of things. Can't wait to see what others say!
