Thanks for the name explanation, xincinsin! I love that SIN is an airport code -- mine is two airports: ABQ (Albuquerque) 2 (to) ATL (Atlanta), reflecting the places I've lived the longest plus frequent trips back and forth. (it's fine to call me abq2atl or just abq, by the way -- it's a bother to type all those caps)

Glad you like Serenite -- I got mine for a good price on the Bay and it came with a note that said it had been a never-worn gift from a dear friend who had since died. I'm so glad the original owner came to terms with re-homing a scarf that deserves to be worn and admired! Here's another shot to show that it's got butterflies, too.
It was while explaining my name that it suddenly occurred to me what yours might mean. Tickled pink to know that my guess was very close :happydance:

I tried doing a spreadsheet when I bought my first 5 H scarves, but it fell by the wayside since I use Excel every day at work and sort of went into avoidance mode once I reached home. Of course I never expected to go very much beyond 5:lolots: , so catching up is now rather intimidating. Taking part in the weekly themes is VERY good for me. I realized that I have way too many blues and reds, and am now contemplating something in a vivid purple :thinkin:

Such a beautiful scarf and perfectly knoted!! Well done!!

Loving the weeks offerings of scarves from the Orient, i'm crazy about Japanese design and loved reading about the kimono designs which send me to :cloud9:

Sorry not to comment individually , just a cheer for all of you .

Pirula and Abq are super organised . I don't have so many 90cm, quite a few 70cm, one mousseline and six CSGMs so I have them all in my mind .

I've got to a stage where sometimes it feels so liberating to go scarf less , I have a new coat that looks terrible with anything H around the neck !

I have them all in my mind too actually, I don't have enough to forget what I have or to need to check what I have to go with outfits or anything like that. But I get some kind of silly pleasure out of keeping a list. :blushing:

I keep a list as well. I created a word document with the scarves organized first by size. Under each size category, I list the scarf name, the artist and the year of issue (sometimes more than year if it is a reissue of an old design i.e. Ex-Libirs) in a column format. In addition, when available, at the end of my word document I copy and paste the Hermes scarf description from the website for each design. I like to have the history whenever possible.

I also keep both the care tag and the colorway tag under the tissue paper in the scarf box. I am beginning to see where I may need to adjust this as my collection grows. I am already feeling that keeping the scarves in the opened boxes in my dresser drawers may not afford me much more space. (Kind of the system Maitai describes on her site for storing in the open H box within a bureau). I too have had to double up more than one scarf within a box. This is a timely discussion as I have been contemplating switching to the folded scarf method as in the boutiques, in the interest of space and visibility. The way my boxes are "layered" in the drawers now can make it difficult to see things clearly. If I do switch out of the box method, then what to do with the boxes?? Would never get rid of them, but then I must store them. Hmmm, many variables to consider. I won't complain, this is a good problem to have :smile1:

Hi Ana Teresa -- it's a slippery silky slope and I'm sure others here will agree that you can get more before you know it! I think spreadsheets are pretty common, but I don't know that everyone keeps the same info.

Here's a link to Mai Tai's system, included after her discussion about whether to leave a label on or take it off. Mai Tai keeps everything in an envelope for each scarf, or at least writes it on a note card. http://www.maitaispicturebook.com/2012/09/Care-tag-Hermes-scarf-remove-or-not.html I've finally started photographing my paper H tags with the colorways listed, but I should have started way sooner! You're at a good place if you're new to H scarves.

RE: spreadsheet: I don't care much about WHEN I got a scarf, but I do record WHERE I got it and how much I paid. I have some favorite sellers on the Bay, for instance, and I like to remember H boutiques. I like to know the ARTIST -- I was shocked to realize how many Annie Faivre scarves I had, for instance! I don't have an alphabetical list of scarf names, as the COLOR is more important for deciding what to wear -- I store them by color, but also have that on the spreadsheet. I also note the YEAR IT WAS ISSUED, because I'm kind of nerdy, and the SIZE, which helps me find it when I decide to wear it.

I'm off to go re-read Mai Tai's method.

I don't have an actual spreadsheet. What I do is keep a running, handwritten list of each scarf I have, in no particular order. Design, Artist, Year of Issue, Season of Issue (if I can riddle that out or just know it), and size. I mostly do this to keep the designers straight in my head. I tend to not forget things if I write them down, even just once. I keep the cw tags (of the ones I buy retail or the resale ones I'm lucky to find with tags) in the box with the scarf. Since I have so many older designs, I don't know the actual cws, otherwise that is another piece of information I would most certainly add to my hand written record. Lastly, for visual therapy as needed, I keep a Pinterest board of all my scarves and have a folder at the HSCI database with pics of them all, in the proper cws.

I still have a thing for the orange boxes, so I keep all my H scarves in them. Some scarves share a box and it works fine. I find 2 90s in one box fit quite comfortably. I have six gavroches in one 90 box and that works as well. The boxes are labeled, because I do have enough scarves now that that is necessary. But other than a "dark" stack of boxes and a "light" stack of boxes, they're not organized in any particular order.

Hmmm, I suppose if I ever get to really high number of scarves, I am going to have to get more formally organized! There is only so much looseleaf in the world, after all......:thinkin:

I am amazed at how similar many of us scarfies are in our storage methods. ABQ I love your spreadsheet idea and one of these days I will get around to making one with all the details...currently I, like Pirula, use a hand-written list of *design/format/issue year* but I would like to capture as much info as possible [kind of nerdy here also HAHA] and a spreadsheet would be best for that. Hmmm...maybe a project for this Sunday.

As far as storage, I keep them all in the orange boxes on a shelf in my closet...even the twillies/scarf rings/knotting cards. They are all labeled with the title/format such as "Tsubas [45cm]" with the Dymo label marker in clear tape with black printing [in the same font for all as I'm kind of obsessive LOL]. I have bought some "pre-loved" and thus they did not have a box so I've had to double up on some of the boxes; then I just put a label for each on the box's edge. I have not put two 90s in a box together though...Pirula how do you fit them both? I only have gavroches doubled [2 per box in the 90 box but I think 3 would fit...you have 6?!?!?!] Do share your secret my dear!!

Back to the trip through the Orient, when is someone going to post Polo Chinois? I almost never see that lovely design; I know someone on here MUST have this unicorn..Croisette perhaps?

Bostonjetset and Pirula: Separated at birth. Naturally you use the clear tape and the same font. Is there any other way??? :hrmm:

Six gavs in a 90s box and no problem. They're just in there, one on top of the other, tissue around them as though they were one scarf, and lid on top. Same with 2 90s, one on top of the other in the tissue. More than 2 won't work, the lid won't go all the way down. I too have several oldies that came sans box.

Oh! but I grant you that the latest gavroche to go in that box is a very recently acquired moussie. That thing is light as a feather and thinner than tissue (divine) so actually, I'm not sure it should count as a sixth Gavroche in the Box at all!

I have a spreadsheet of all my scarves arranged by color and also by artist. My technique for SOTD is to copy the year theme list (see the first entry of this thread) into a Word doc and then add the names of all the scarves I think will fit into each week's theme -- yes, I've got a draft for the year done already.:blushing: If one scarf is coming up twice in a month, I might hold the first or second showing. It's fun to think about the designs for awhile, especially when you need to find critters or bugs or places...:thinkin:
How do other Silkies do it?

Omg!! You all are putting me to shame!!! I used to think I am the queen when it comes to organization and filing in real life but I just learnt I am so far behind!!! I keep excel files and actual folders for everything! All paperworks are filed and indexed for easy use from medical records to tax filings etc. to kids stuff from each grade year BUT it never occurred to me to do the same for my H shawls and scarves[emoji33][emoji33]... Thank you a million times to all of you for the brilliant idea!
As for storage, I do store all my scarves and shawls in dresser drawers lined with acid free paper (another brilliant idea borrowed from this wonderful forum) and I organize each drawer by different designers. Yup! Shocker! I actually used to buy other designer scarves too [emoji51][emoji51]... But if it counts I have not bought any other designer scarf or shawl after getting into H! [emoji6][emoji6]

Here's my organization system. I'm just shy of the 100 mark- counting twillies and gavroches. [emoji15]

I keep a spreadsheet as others do and I keep mine in these felt lined trays from the container store. I have to be able to see mine. And I spend more time than I'd like to admit admiring them.

This is a bit old. I'm constantly reorganizing. But left side top to bottom: misc colors, neutrals, 140 silks, gavroches and twillies. Right side: Colvert, blue, maxi twillies, 70s. Csgm and moussies stay on their boxes.

Oh and I stack 3 trays per shelf so I have one tray that is empty and reserved for future growth. I keep it empty just to prove that I'm not completely out of control.![emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Wow! Love seeing most of your collection at a glance! We are definitely twins on 4 in your Upper right hand box, 1 twin in the blue box. But yet you have so many neutrals ( I guess for that GT bag)

Pirula- I started out where you are, storing 1-2 per box, open and stacked ( first in half a drawer, pretty soon a whole drawer). Next step was taking most out of the boxes, and storing folded in acid free box lined with acid free tissue. The whole box fits in my single scarf drawer. The mousselines, CSGM s are kept in boxes in the closet. These are labeled. ( use p-touch labeler).

Yes, I have kept all the orange boxes. Some empties are nested inside other boxes, mostly just stacked on. An upper shelf in my closet.

Yes I have an excel file. I photograph the paper tag if I have one. In Europe I have sometimes been able to photograph it before they take it away. I now have a plastic Baggie with all the paper tags and receipts. The excel file has design name, CW, season, when/where purchased, price, designer.

I also keep track of my clics and bangles in the same file.

I also have a word doc where I write down the scarf stories( if I can find them), plus other info about the symbolism or images in the scarf if relevant. I also keep track of when the design was issued/ re- issued.

Living in a small 1918 bungalow, I have limited storage options. One upside is that I have been going through my clothing and purging more of that so that I have room for the scarves! :lolots:

Wow! You are super organized. I'm sure we are twins on quite a few. Like you I love blues and greens. Neutrals are my third love.

That's hilarious because I'm the opposite with paperwork. Throw it in a box and hope for the best! Tax time is all kinds of fun. [emoji15]

Psssst, don't tell: I have a Carolina Herrera 140, and a Versace mousseline stole that I adore. And an Etro and a couple of Pucci's. And a Missoni..... No one needs to know. [emoji55]

I love to see pictures of collections. Your's is TDF! You have very good taste and a well balanced collection.
We are twins/sisters/cousins on 12 (?) of them, I spot some I wish I had. I think I can name maybe a bit more than half.
We should make a thread "Here is my collection, how many can you name?" with pictures like this one. Or with numbered scarf mummies (TangoTosca, where are you?)

Thank you. DH thinks I have lost my mind and he could be right. I try not to do the scarf math of just went into those trays.

That hits very close to home! Sometimes I doubt my own sanity; whenever I think "That must do" there are more that tease me. I should stay away from this forum. (Not gonna happen:cool:). The problem is: The more I have the less 'neck time' for each...
