Help! I love Paperolles, and I bought one in gold! Soooooo not my color to wear, but really pretty to look at. The minute I started taking pix, I realized it’s the same colors as my sitting room. So maybe it should be a pillow?

And yet, I want to wear it! So I tried it with various colors that I think do NOT work: View attachment 3893944
But I have a new cranberry cashmere top, and tried some new knots today. I think, because the gold is so (ahem) possibly old lady looking, the knot needs to be really casual. And very neutral lipstick. What do you think of these? View attachment 3893945View attachment 3893946View attachment 3893947

Cranberry for the win! But the purple is pretty good too!

This is the Correspondence which I never seem to reach for. I find the blue border nondescript and, if I tie it the wrong way, the pattern of little stamps makes me look like I'm wearing a granny blanket. So today, I'm hiding the border and pleating the stamps. Think I can keep this one.

This is when I grab the striped black and white top and see where things go, when I am truly stuck and some scarves feel "old fashioned" or maybe too "traditional" so I think it was frou frou that suggested tyring a striped top to modernize. I wonder if this scarf would benefit from that too, despite having a lot of pattern in the design?

eagle1002us, you think the same way I do about the hat....thank you for your advice!

papertiger caused me to rethink my original impulse - which was to put the hat into a rehome pile. My hair is long and fine and thin. My hair was pulled back into a low ponytail for this picture.

Thank you, Pirula.

You are sweet, gracekelly!

All.....I am enjoying this week very much. It just goes to show that a) we can all put a foot wrong now and then, and b) occasionally we may be more self critical than necessary. This week is like having sisters all over the world to check in with to ask: does this look OK, or is it as awful as I think it is?

lol.... just so! :P

erm - I hear you. I'm glad you're feeling better about it!
But I would struggle with it.
I just got rid of - whoops.. re-homed a Les Jardin d’Armenie. I felt like I was channeling Laura Ingalls whenever I wore it - sorta like the Granny blanket for me.
(if anyone loves the Les Jardin d’Armenie - I apologize and please don't hold it against me!)

 Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do....I do worry about that with some designs, like I worried myself silly about that with Pique Fleuri but it all turned out OK and now I have 2....

OK- here's my worst one. And here's my story. I make glass beads (lampwork) and perfume bottles....so of course I thought what I REALLY need is the scarf with perfume bottles on it! So I found one, but it had a green border. Of course, I was like, well, I'm fine with green, but it turns out not THIS green in particular and I knew it as soon as I got it an put it on. I keep it mainly for the darn hot pink bottle and the center but I always keep the border folded out of my sight at all times.....

Hmmm, never tried striped top scarf hack. I think I have some stripes somewhere, probably pinstriped denim which might not work.

Ooh, love that amphora!
I've got a L'Hiver and a Gucci Accornero with a green border like that. Only seems to work when I wear them with very neutral tops: beige and black.

Thank you both!

Yes I may just suck it up and attempt rehoming this one, despite the bottles since my wishlist for spring is growing every moment...

Ha! Very interesting! So you MAKE them? Wow!! They are beautiful and I love the knot for this particular scarf! Your story made me think of my doll collection. I stopped collecting years ago and so many dolls in my collection were gifts from my dad. When an acquaintance ran to tell me that Hermes had a beautiful vintage “doll scarf” (Hello Dolly) I immediately thought that I must have it. Thankfully I never pursued one because I don’t think I would have liked wearing that design.

Yes! That sounds pretty much exactly like what I did do. (On the other hand, I also acquired Sulfures for the same reason...glass paperweights, so lampwork again but it's red and mousseline....I did that much more thoughtfully....).

I've been making beads and bottles for about 17 years.

The knot in the first pic is the flower knot. Super easy. There should be a tute on Maitai's site.

Imagine my surprise about the necklace and wrapping a scarf. I was messing around this morning and wore this today. It’s Cheval Phoenix wrapped around an opera length pearl necklace. View attachment 3894487
Stunning! I can't pull off this look, so I can only
Reminds me of the bejewelled turbans in old paintings.
