The hunting scarves chronicle Hermes' history too, showing the pastimes their customers were interested in, as you say not so long ago. Even now and in Europe hunting is often more than a pastime as many eat still what they hunt. I live on an estate most of the year, all sorts of people make their living from it directly or indirectly, and though I don't hunt, I appreciate it's part of country life. Only speaking on behalf of me but I'd rather be a bird living in the open and 'go with a bang' that endure some our modern farming alternatives.

In my area deer hunting with bow and arrow is allowed, with certain restrictions. This is fine with me, as the deer population is excessive and they eat all our shrubs, cause car accidents, lyme disease, etc. Plus, deer are tasty!!

HAPPY YEAR OF THE FIRE ROOSTER to everyone around the globe. It has been a challenging start of the year, but things are finally getting into gear, though a lot is going to require adjustments to a new "norm". Wanted to share my CNY theme silks though I found it difficult to find any roosters - there are plenty of birds. I enjoy all your lovely bird images as they bring out the beauties of our winged friends as we prepare for spring.

Could be a rooster, though I think it is a Phoenix from Turandot...guess rooster would not have such a grand plumage.

Thank you Lanit! I got this fairly recently. I suddenly felt I "had" to have it, lol. My SA was able to find one on the east coast. So happy to have this one with me :heart:
