Feather Week - Disappearing Feathers

I used to dislike Texas Wildlife - with that UGLY bird in the middle, when laying flat.

But someone said, oooohhhh there are those wonderful feathers around your neck if you tie it right . Totally diff design tied

At some point I finally started taking decent photos of mine, and finally settled on taking 2 views of the scarf bias folded, to show me what it looks like tied - rather than a lot of pix with diff knots

Anyway, some scarves tie differently along the 2 biases and this is one - more feathers at the neck one way, and the beautiful colored sky the other way

I usually turn my scarves so that the center is at the front of me and I get the feathers or the sky at the front

Thanks so much Birkinmary and Croisette - proud to be twins with both of you - Chestnutty and Cherryblossom. Chestnutty, I have known for a while that pink suits me most and am still trying to diversify my collection. Is that stupid. Your PF is so subtly gorgeous.

MYH, great 70cm addition and those earrings are beautiful!

Elaine, it is nice to have a dd in one's collection. Some are so easy to pair with clothing due to their monochrome nature. Good luck deciding.

That was kind of what I thought, maedi, especially after seeing all the gorgeous ones on this thread! Well, we will be at the boutique at noon... we shall see!;)

Croisette, Chestnutty, MYH, GG, Maedi, Vitamina - TY for the Dallet love

I'm traveling today, but here is something from the archives: mine is a slightly strange CW (pink ice?) that I like to wear with navy.

I've seen this scarf many times and never fail to be charmed by it.

Lovely on you, dear Maedi. Pink-toned shawls seem to work great on you all the time!
Yesterday, I just bought a green beret hat to match the scarf :amuse:.

Your Pique is absolutely exquisite and I admire how you found a perfect match with the beret. I also went hat shopping this weekend and came home empty handed myself.

I'm going to hit the rewind button and sneak in an entry for multiples week. I just bought these chrysoprase earrings and had no scarf to pair them with. You know how that goes. And the siren call of going to the boutique was deafening to my ears so of course when I was in the area...I decided to stop by to just "have a look". The 70cm Rose de Compas is what I came back with even though it's not even from the current season! I am so weak.... The GM Compass was already sitting in my drawer so I have fallen victim to having more multiples.

It's meant to be MYH. Those beautiful earrings deserve that 70!

Your Texas is so pretty. I spent hrs last nite putting stuff away til next yr and bringing stuff out. I took out my Texas and Plumes to wear all week. Here it is from my archives worn ala Baga:

Dear Elaine, first off how exciting to have picked out four scarves that you are contemplating over!! I would love to hear which ones you are thinking about!:graucho: I have four DD's and can honestly say I am a big fan. I have the Jungle Love in the green cw, but have seen the fuschia and I think it is sooo stunning! I think, for me, the only difficulty I really have with my DD scarves is that they aren't as versatile to matching all of my clothes. Mileage wise I get more use out of my silk twills because, normally, so many have lots and lots of colors that I can match my clothing easier. However, I love the feel of a DD and Jungle Love is just so special! I am super excited for your decision(s)!!:yahoo: P.S. I actually really enjoy knotting a DD. I actually find that a real advantage to them...just my opinion though! A SA in my boutique has the fuschia cw JL and she often wears hers as a belt. It looks so stunning on her!

VitaminaH, thank you so much for the wonderful advice! I will think about what you have said about versatility. I do love the feel of a DD... this was the first time I had "petted" one, and I kind of wanted to hold it on my lap for a while!:D

marietouchet, you and I are fraternal twins on this one!

I have the one with the black edges. I agree with everything you said about it; it is certainly a bit of a challenge to tie! I have owned mine since it first came out (I cannot remember the year... 1987, perhaps?... I may be off by a year in either direction) and it took me a while to learn that the bias fold is important. Like you, I am very glad to hide the enormous turkey in the middle, though his feathers are magnificent!;)

Thank you for introducing this week theme so brilliantly, chestnutty, Robert Dallet was an incredibly talented designer and illustrator of many books on Natural Life. These are my contributions for the week, all together as I'm on travel and it's so difficult to post regularly now. I'll post pictures of the regular scarves when I'm home again. Happy Monday and happy week to you all!!!!!!

A perfect match of bags and scarves, as always, birkinmary! I especially love the birds in Equateur... the pair of spoonbills (the pink ones) flying toward each other are rendered exquisitely!

I am GAWKING at that pretty Texas silk seton! I love that colorway! I have avoided Jungle Love because I already have plenty of leopards and big cats on two other silks. But it looks gorgy on you.

Dallet week - I just have two Dallet silks... here is the first - Equatuer a sister silk to Bkm's stunning black - they could be black and white opposites, right?

I felt exactly the same way marie - this is KO's best silk TIED and meant to be worn! Though Mr. Turkey is quite the bird in the center - I just adore all the feathers and corners of this silk. I hope to have one some day!

A very beautiful collection birkinmary. We are twins on the Tendresse Feline, and I only wish we were twins on your Equator!! That design, in that colorway, are a HG for me I'm afraid.
