Thank you for the insights, chestnutty... that's good to know about the wrinkling. I always let my SOTD hang overnight, and then steam it in the morning & let it cool down before putting it away; so I suppose there would just be a bit more steaming required!:smile1:

Elaine, I have not had issues with DD wrinkles. They are velvety soft and drapey and I knot them many ways....just love the colors. Good luck and have fun choosing!

Good morning to a new week of Silks Dear Silkies!!

It's National Geographic on Silk Week!! Let's celebrate Robert Dallet.

Robert Dallet, an illustrator and lover of Wild Life in Africa and other regions designed his first silk square, Kenya, in 1985 after Hermes called upon him.

Arguably his most famous and beloved designs have been Equateur, Jungle Love, and Sichuan-- National Geographic upon silk—lifelike pictures that we can all wear and love.

He created 25 designs between 1985 and his death in 2006 including: Africa, En Piste, Guepards, Les Giraffes, Les Mustangs, Tanzanie, Les Zebras, and Tigre du Bengale.

Available today on H.online are gorgeous colorways of Guepards, Jungle Love, and Les Zebres.

Sparkle - you are doing a bang-up job as our scarf mistress. Sadly, I will have to sit this week out. No Dallet for me. I could never handle the wide solid borders most of his scarves have.

Croisette - well now that I have seen your guepards with a two toned border, I may need to reconsider Dallet. And the star jacqaurd in your En Piste makes me think I may need to hunt one of these down. It's just so darn cheerful!

dear Croisette - these colours are just stunning on you! I have been eyeing that Circuit extra wide for myself; it's quite eye-catching.

From my archives, Sichuan CSPM and Tanzanie

TY Bova!

more from my archives: Quatre Saisons

Seton - of course you have the cws that I think are gorgeous. The gray/blue border is right up my alley. Sichuan is one of my favorites of Dallet's. Who doesn't love pandas?

I'm traveling today, but here is something from the archives: mine is a slightly strange CW (pink ice?) that I like to wear with navy.
I am intrigued by the jacquard design in this one. Is it holly leaves? Pink and navy blue as a combo is very current. Love how you have paired it.

Lovely on you, dear Maedi. Pink-toned shawls seem to work great on you all the time!

Thank you for your compliment!
This Pique Fleuri de Provence was an almost-miss scarf for me. I like the design but most twill colorways didn't suit me due to my shy personality... However, I saw this colorway (cw18 mastic/vert amande/vieux rose) and I knew I had to have it. It has my favorite green (vert amande), a pearly grey border, and all other soft colors and pops of prune. Very lovely. If you have a blazer or sweater in artichoke green, hunter green, dusty rose, mauve, or prune, it will compliment very well.

Yesterday, I just bought a green beret hat to match the scarf :amuse:.

Pretty pretty Pique Fleuri! Yours is my favorite cw. And I understand about buying accessories to match scarves or vice versa. I just had to buy a new scarf this weekend to match a new pair of earrings. A vicious cycle...

I'm going to hit the rewind button and sneak in an entry for multiples week. I just bought these chrysoprase earrings and had no scarf to pair them with. You know how that goes. And the siren call of going to the boutique was deafening to my ears so of course when I was in the area...I decided to stop by to just "have a look". The 70cm Rose de Compas is what I came back with even though it's not even from the current season! I am so weak.... The GM Compass was already sitting in my drawer so I have fallen victim to having more multiples.

It's funny how you just "happened" to be in the area! but Rose de compas was my favorite last season when I was daydreaming about a CSGM, and yours seems perfect for your earrings. Now you'll tell us if you think 70s are easier to wear than 90s

Thank you, florasun! I've made one (very quick) trip to the boutique. The SA, who was recommended to me by a tPF member, and is lovely, personable, and... most importantly... HONEST is holding (eek!) four scarves for me. I thought I was going to buy one. I may (heaven help me!) buy two.

One is a fuchsia dip dye of Jungle Love... it would be my first DD.

I have a question for anyone who has time to answer. Are the DDs easy to wear? Do they "droop" more than the regular (stiffer) silk 90cm scarves, and are therefore more shawl-like? Or can they be knotted in any number of ways, and are therefore fairly versatile?

Any and all opinions greatly appreciated!:smile1:
Elaine, they are softer and drapier, and just as versatile as a regular 90. They have a pretty sheen, but a more muted color than the non-dip dyes. I prefer the brighter colors of the regular 90s. I hope you also tried on a 90 cm cashmere-silk, a 70 silk, and a maxi-twilly! Take time to explore!

Oh these are just beautiful! Great job! Look at how much you saved by buying a 70! :D
I am going to have to look for one of these.

Ha, that's what I was thinking about the 70 too! But in the end, it had the special color green I was looking for so I was unable to resist.

I swear I was in the area! I had to go to Yves Delorme to exchange something. I already have a few other 70s and yes, they are easy peasy to wear.

Yes, it was for sure very muted! I could see that for many patterns, I wouldn't care for it... I would want the glory of the pattern to stand out. I just thought one DD would make a nice change... but I haven't knotted it yet, so I really don't know how the more muted appearance will look on me, especially with the neutral colors I wear.

I did try a 70cm, but found that it kind of "choked" me when I knotted it. Maybe I was doing it wrong... tomorrow I'll bring some MT scarf rings and see what I can accomplish. I hadn't thought about the 90cm cashmere-silk or maxi twilly options. Thank you for the reminder!:smile1:
