From my archives, Sichuan CSPM and Tanzanie
Seton - the Sichuan worn in the second pic with the foliage around your neck - that looks is so beautiful. The colorway suits your complexion as well!

Good morning to a new week of Silks Dear Silkies!!

It's National Geographic on Silk Week!! Let's celebrate Robert Dallet.

Robert Dallet, an illustrator and lover of Wild Life in Africa and other regions designed his first silk square, Kenya, in 1985 after Hermes called upon him.

Arguably his most famous and beloved designs have been Equateur, Jungle Love, and Sichuan-- National Geographic upon silk—lifelike pictures that we can all wear and love.

He created 25 designs between 1985 and his death in 2006 including: Africa, En Piste, Guepards, Les Giraffes, Les Mustangs, Tanzanie, Les Zebras, and Tigre du Bengale.

Available today on H.online are gorgeous colorways of Guepards, Jungle Love, and Les Zebres.
Sparkle - Thank you for the great intro. I didn't know that about Dallet. I myself am not a true Dallet fan but love his Tigre du Bengale in beige (twin with Maedi). Very sad to hear that Tigre du Bengale was probably his last design...

Croisette - this colorway of CSMC is made for you. It compliments your skin tone and pairs well with the blazer. Very elegant yet casual pairing.

A Cheval sur mon Carre GM in red. I wasn't sure if I liked this at first. It has turned into one of my most loved scarves. Goes to show that it is not always love at first sight.
Sunny and quite cold here.
Lovely on you, dear Maedi. Pink-toned shawls seem to work great on you all the time!

This is a beautiful cw!

This is a gorgeous color! Look fantastic on you and I love the design!

Chestnutty you choose the best colors! I haven't been a fan of pique fleuri until this instant! What CW is this? It's beautiful.

Thank you for your compliment!
This Pique Fleuri de Provence was an almost-miss scarf for me. I like the design but most twill colorways didn't suit me due to my shy personality... However, I saw this colorway (cw18 mastic/vert amande/vieux rose) and I knew I had to have it. It has my favorite green (vert amande), a pearly grey border, and all other soft colors and pops of prune. Very lovely. If you have a blazer or sweater in artichoke green, hunter green, dusty rose, mauve, or prune, it will compliment very well.

Yesterday, I just bought a green beret hat to match the scarf :amuse:.

Elaine, I am excited because this is your boutique weekend. I can't wait to see what you come home with!
Thank you, florasun! I've made one (very quick) trip to the boutique. The SA, who was recommended to me by a tPF member, and is lovely, personable, and... most importantly... HONEST is holding (eek!) four scarves for me. I thought I was going to buy one. I may (heaven help me!) buy two.

One is a fuchsia dip dye of Jungle Love... it would be my first DD.

I have a question for anyone who has time to answer. Are the DDs easy to wear? Do they "droop" more than the regular (stiffer) silk 90cm scarves, and are therefore more shawl-like? Or can they be knotted in any number of ways, and are therefore fairly versatile?

Any and all opinions greatly appreciated!:smile1:

Twins on cw 18, Chestnutty! It's the best cw for this busy design, IMO.

Elaine - dipdye is much softer than new silk twills and has a velvety surface feel (must be coated with some different chemical after the dye process). I myself feel like 90cm dip dye is a bit thinner than 140 dip dye, hence not as bulky; the feel is very similar to washed silk twill. The good side is that it's easy to wear, the bad side is that it wrinkles easily and takes slightly longer for the wrinkles to flatten out after use. That's my opinion anyway, others may differ.

Thank you for the insights, chestnutty... that's good to know about the wrinkling. I always let my SOTD hang overnight, and then steam it in the morning & let it cool down before putting it away; so I suppose there would just be a bit more steaming required!:smile1:
